No, I haven't yet, I'm gonna do that right after I send in all my residency documents...Miami requires a crapload of them, even a copy of my high school diploma(wtf?) I'm pretty sure I'll pick the Brickell area tho. South Beach is a bit more expensive and a longer drive. I like Brickell's central location, right in downtown, midway between sobe and the med school, plus a heavy concentration of med students and other young professionals so it's easier to socialize during the scarce opportunities that we'll get 😀

Those things cost a fortune in Miami! At least in clubs near the beach. I don't think I'll be going to them, it's basically a replica of Jersey Shores in many parts.... I might go if I hear Snookie and the gang's gonna be there tho :laugh:

My actual price would be $787, not $834. Then again, I'd probably upgrade to Windows 7 Professional...bringing the total to $877. Not sure if good deal 😕 Anyone have any experience with the Dell Studio 15s?
 
I mean, it looks good on the surface -- good memory and 64 bit is a must. 320 is sufficient unless you're a huge movie pirate at which point you might run out.

I just am not a fan of dell...both my roommates have them and they look like they've been thrown out of a window after 2 years of use.
 
anyone doing anything interesting today? Im having such a lazy day. Just woke up from like a 3 hr nap on a hammock in the park🙂. It was sweet.

shopping 🙂. I recently discovered that I own work suits and sweatpants, but very little inbetween...trying to rectify that while I still have a paycheck 🙂

My roommate is about to submit her AMCAS -- so glad I'm not in her shoes right now

oh fun! i did a little of that a few weeks ago too-i was having the same probem but without the suits. i pretty much only wear sweats to work because it's easier to chase the kiddies with and i reaiized all my jeans and going out clothes either had holes or didn't fit so i need to fix that before school starts and i'm poor again too😛

and i'm so glad to be in the position we're in and not be submitting amcas!!!

i had super lazy weekend-pretty much just watched tv and layed around. it was really nice to have 3 days to recover from being sick, but now i'm a bit bored and ready to go to work tomorrow🙂

Wow, it's so surreal to have come full circle...

This time last year I was freaking out about my MCAT and personal statement....

And tomorrow I start med school....

Holy wow.
 
so, is it a bad idea to take a sick day on my last week of work? I've got a ridic cough thats flared up in the past 24 hrs or so -- a friend of mine has walking pneumonia, and it's not nearly as bad as his hack, but I'm not too keen on working in an open environment and coughing every 5 minutes...

plus it's already a 4-day week...thoughts?
 
I think it looks kind of bad to call in on your last week... But chances are they'll send you home if you're hacking every few minutes.

haha yay sammich! The journey begins 🙂

Hopefully they'll send me home...doubt it though. I share a cubicle, so i"m sure my cube mate would appreciate me not being there. I also have 2 holidays left to burn w/out touching my vacation days (and 4 sick days) -- best part is that I've accrued 7.5 vacay days that they'll pay me for once I quit :soexcited:

I don't really know where I want to live yet... I really want a place that super close to campus... And close to a Starbucks... :laugh:

I'm so glad that the Kaiv person on the Miami thread reposted that housing stuff for Miami. I've been having such a hard time figuring out where I should even begin to look for an apartment.

Your day sounds like it was awesome. After working an opening shift, I had to drive 3 hours to meet an alterations lady and then 3 hours back home. And now I am tired.

if i went to UM, I would def live in Brickell. padmapper (jennifer homes seems to be a good one)

Hey whats up, it looks like I'm about a year late posting on here but i just joined. I would like to say congratulations to everyone who has been accepted. I have been accepted into University of New Mexico. It seems like some of you are going east coast or atleast like some i have read. I could push myself to read the 100k+ posts sorry. is there anyone accepted to UNM?
 
12+ hours moving today. And it wasn't even my stuff. :bang:

Had to go to Mississippi and was rained on about 4 or 5 times. 😡

yikes, that sucks (especially the rain part).

but at least you're probably super tired and will sleep really well tonight!
 
Apparently if I fall asleep at a normal hour, my body thinks I'm napping and wakes up after 2 hours.

Or I'm just too anxious to sleep.

I did just change my thingy to med student.

Although for this week I'm just kind of a quasi med student. It's orientation.

But on Monday, hello back and upper extremity anatomy.
 
I'm going to sleep. Another big moving day tomorrow. Hopefully it doesn't take 14 hours this time and involve freak thunderstorms. My hand is killing me, I must have hurt it today. Have fun at orientation, Sammich.

AHHHH It's Sammich's first day of medical school!!!!!! 😀 😀 😀

I decided to go to work so I could show off my quasi business casual purchases from yesterday...woke up at 0530 to try and drag myself to the gym but that was a big bust -- watched band of brothers and drank some coffee instead 😛.

4 days left at a 9-5... :soexcited:
