I'm feeling weird about not having to feel guilty about not studying if that makes any sense! So far I've been able to study plenty during my shifts 🙂

Anybody have any recommendations for training shoes for lifting, light cardio, etc ($50-70 range). I'm getting tired of beating the crap out of my running shoes while lifting.

White Coat Ceremony today. Despite the SDN Cynicism about WCCs, I am mildly excited about it.
 
The only thing I have against the white coast ceremony is the coat itself. The ceremony is cool. But I've spent all summer in the hospital and the short coats just look so ridiculous compared to real ones!!
 
Yeah, I'm very anti-short-white-coats. I'd rather wear pink scrubs for two years than that stupid looking thing. I also hate the bizarre hazing culture that has evolved around it.
 
don't apply to MGH for residencies, then, since even the attendings there wear the short ones!
 
can i change my status to md / phd student, im bored as **** and i already started couple of weeks ago

I think the unofficial -official SDN rule is that if you've actually started med school classes (not like research work etc.); then you are allowed to change your status. Whether or not you can change your status once orientation starts is up for debate - but I say yes 😀 Even orientation counts!
 
yea but i didnt start the medical part technically. like i had my mstp orientation and then the lab work but not my md orientation
 
whats the cheapest thing you can give someone for a wedding. someone i dont really know well yet (and they are realy already married, they are just doing a small reception thingy) but i will know for the next 6 years

Yeah, I went through like a mini-orientation in June and have matriculated according to the records here, but it still doesn't count to other people. 🙁
 
I have my coat now! It was a good ceremony. My parents were going crazy with their cameras. I am now oriented and ready to start real med school tmr! Hot dang!

so yeah I totally changed my status to Medical Student the other day
