Err.. what am I talking about?! Patch Adams is the entire reason I want to be a doctor. I got all my shadowing experience from watching that movie 😀

I spent this last year trying to go through the IMDB top 250 and have created a large rating system for all the movies that I watch (I had an unhealthy amount of free time). Should I have included this on my app? :laugh:
 
Geekchick, I've never been able to get into the Underworld series. Something about them just doesn't do it for me...

they show up near the end of june. Most will be in july and some screened ones you may not even see till august/sept or even later depending on a lot of things.

so i saw kips thread and looked at m excel spreadsheet from last year and thought you guys (or at least kip) might be interested. Heres the schools that i recieved secondaries from in june (earliest was june 23rd last year) as well as the ones i got like july 1st or 2nd.

suny downstate
dartmouth
gwu
boston
temple
uic
rfu
jefferson - no essay but optional one "is there anything youd like to add"
suny buffalo - no essay
univ cincinnati - no essays really.

All of my 2ndaries for the most part were recieved in july and I was verified day one so i got them as early as anyone else did likely. I could only count 5/47 schools that sent them out in august or later. The latest i got one was september and thats OHSU (for those of you applying there this school is THE SLOWEST in the country). So dont worry. I got an interview in january and i think that was one of the earliest ones after submitting in sept.
 
Primary is currently under review. Count me in for working on secondaries based on last years prompts. I setup outlines for 5 prompts. Now I just need to translate them into written essays.
 
wow! I still can't believe it's my turn to go through the application process. I have watched the turnout of three cycles on SDN.

I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to bother with the AACOMAS. I know I should, but my MCAT makes me feel lazy about finishing the app and shelling out $160 for one school.
 
Going off of Elijah's advice, here are the dates of when I received all of my secondaries:

Baylor - June 15th
LSU-NO - June 25th (not like this really matters to y'all)
Maryland - July 8th
Ohio St - June 25th
OHSU - Sep 15th
St Louis U - July 9th
Vanderbilt - August 17th (remember this one is variable and only if you get interview)
Vermont - July 21st
UVA - July 6th
VCU - July 10th *** The only one that changed prompts from the year before
Wake Forest - July 22nd
Emory - Aug 24th
Loyola - July 24th
NYU - July 15th
Pitt - June 29th

Hope this helps for those with some of these schools on your lists. :luck:

I completely understand... the leather outfit, bad azz fighting skills, and edgy haircut worked for me. I really liked the first 2 movies, didn't watch the one Kate Beckinsale wasn't in though.

:laugh: Fear is the best motivator. I was up all night working and it just happened to open right before I crashed for 2 hours before class. I tried to submit and it wasn't open yet, I waited literally 2 minutes and decided I would try 1 more time and it was open. Hopefully that good luck lasts.

I reworded some things and deleted a chunk from my last paragraph that was basically reiterating something earlier in my PS and, I've decided, isn't entirely necessary. Fixed it.

Also, blech, it looks like the AACOMAS dropped my cGPA by .04 from what I calculated. That sucks. It's still in the 3.6x range, though.

You'll be fine, but isn't applying DO supposed to help your gpa? :laugh:
 
one thing that is irritating about amcas was that the only thing on my grades that they changed was that they went through and removed all of the "+" signs from my A+ grades... wtf?

Ugh me either! I know it's BEYOND annoying to be complaining about this on the second day, but what else can you expect from people who submit on the first day...😉

Hope it's not any problem with my app or transcripts holding it up
 
I just noticed on the amcas log in page that it says transmission of applicant data will not take place until 6/25. I talked to amcas yesterday and the lady tried to tell me that the schools download on a weekly basis starting from the first day... I knew she was wrong! I wonder if those people at amcas answering the phones are temporary or seasonal workers.

AACOMAS completely replaced repeat grades, that's what you mean. 🙂

I have two pairs of classes that are pretty similar that they might be counting as retakes and only counting each pair as one grade. I got As in all 4 of them, so it would suck if that's the case because each one raised my GPA by .01 or .02. We'll see when they verify it.

That is interesting that aacomas tells you your gpa before verification. Amcas doesn't list it until after. I guess aacomas is a step ahead in this game 🙂
 
Man, I submitted yesterday and I've still not been verified Granted I submitted later in the day, but come on. You guys have had an entire work day, it should be done by now. 🙄.
 
Same here! I submitted yesterday, no verification yet. It was 1030 AM PST, so 130 EST.

To people verified...did you get an email from AMCAS, or did you have to go in and check your application status to determine if you were verified??

I got an e-mail, and it was listed under the details link on the main page too
 
I just found out that my work is forcing me to go to a conference that is 4 days before the MCAT. Its only a one day conference, and I don't have to leave town, but GRRR.


they acted like they were doing me a favor as I am being paid to attend just as if I was at work.....but for reals, I gotts to blow this kitty out of the water! geekmamma style.


I'm still happy today though. My fish are so cool. I wonder what bleargh meant by "diseal" when I posted my pick of them. good or bad? :laugh:

I've got 2 finals on monday back to back (3 hours each) ---> Physiology 2 then The Molecular Basis of Human Disease

Then on tuesday ---> Immunology

I preferred the AACOMAS app over the AMCAS app. Although, I would much rather get into schools on my AMCAS app.

wussup guys. been so busy these last few days working 10 hours shadowing and then school all day when i get home im sooo tired

still have to finish this app, hopefully be done and submitted tonight or tomorrow before the laker game ( i want a free mind to watch lol)

I'm verified... CumGPA went up by .01 from calculated lol.

Need to decide if I'm really gonna shoot Vermont an app... Found out from CCLCM that they'll take online credit, so I can do biochem at UC Berkeley extension if I get accepted.
