I wrote a poem for everyone

As I prepare to embark on the application process
I think not of the hardships to follow
but of the bonds that I already feel are forming
between all the 2015 nerds on sdn
And these be not single bonds, but rather triple
not just days we will spend, but rather years,
so dont be a bitch when we get to school,
and I'll give you a shoulder to lean on when you fail your boards
you may even meet your new lover on the 1st day of class
and user Sexy.baby_angel69 may even save your life
so class of 2015,
I think im still drunk

I just had my microbio exam, and now I have another one this week coming up, ahh!! Anyway, I sat on a student panel and a who bunch of science faculty asked us questions about what we honestly thought worked in classes and what didn't. Some professor had suggested (not any there) that classes should be entirely taught on facebook. I'm not paying $300-400 a class to be on facebook 👎 What's cool though is a got a job offer out of it working for their science center 👍

yea i know, thats my response whenever i call a girl 'he' on here. If you are THAT picky about wanting to be known as a girl, make your name sexybuttshaker or something along those lines. Even that isnt fool proof though. You'll find the odd 1 or 2 guys who are butt shakers.

edit: and what's the deal with 69? you make a good point about girls back in middle school having that in their screennames. Did anyone at that age even know wtf that was?

i thought it meant that was the number of people you hooked up with. i also thought hooking up was simply making out.
 
Haha in my 7th grade english class whenever the teacher would say "turn to page (69, 420, etc)" we would start giggling like the little jests that we were. The teacher was approaching 60 in age, and one day kinda flipped out at us and said "I KNOW WHAT MEANS, I USED TO BE YOUNG ONCE TOO" and we just looked at each other and laughed harder.
 
I remember back in my 7th grade class, we had a guy in there that had to be a teacher's aid for his degree, and one of the girls said that french line in the song Lady Marmalad (sorry for the crappy spelling) and he filled out and said "You don't even know what that means!! That was extremely disrespectful and awful, etc etc", kinda funny

Also, does anyone know anything about the Golden Key Honor Society? I just got an invite from my schools chapter, but I don't really know a bunch about it

Golden key, like all those other societies =

Pay us lots of $$$
We will say that you have a reasonably okay or high GPA
You might be able to take a leadership position in our club, which means you will lead other people who got duped into paying us $$$ for nothing. haha.

That's what I figured, it's like $100. I'm fine just being in the regular honors program.

I have a quick question that i just noticed on my transcript. I had begun to apply for an AA last when I thought I might transfer schools, but then I changed my mind. Later on, an advisor asked me about it, I told her I had changed my mind about it and wanted to go straight for the BS degree only, she said ok and that everything was fine. I just now saw that my transcript lists like:

Primary Degree Sought: Biology

Degree Denied: Associates of Arts

Should I go back to an advisor about this? I don't want anyone to think I was actually denied a degree for some reason.
 
I wouldn't sweat it, that's probably just the way your school is keeping records. I'm sure somewhere else on the transcript it says "Degree in progress - Bachelor of Sciences." (which is better than AA), so I wouldn't worry about it.

Plus, if all your grades are on there, and you don't have any Academic probation problems, it's all good.

You might as well ask an advisor though, couldn't hurt to just check.
 
Will be applying this upcoming cycle. Can't wait for this roller coaster to begin. 😛
Until then, I will continue to lurk around in the School Specifics for Class of 2014. 🙂

Thanks 🙂 Yea, I figured it doesn't mean something bad, but I have to see an advisor anyway for something else, so I'll bring it up too. I'm taking ecology this semester, which is required for bio majors of this calandar year, bunch wasn't even mentioned in my catalog year, so trying to see if I can count it as part of my required electives without needing to take scientific process 👍

my school gives it to us off. Sadly I work that day instead joy 🙂

maybe🙂. Cali schools are in such a huge hole they are looking for any reason to give days off and not pay people lol. We get the most random days off now. Sadl;y now that I graduated do they do this 😛

that thread kinda made me lol...but i always get sick of those things. Ive always felt the carib is a horrid idea but to each their own. I read most of what you said and at least you have your reasons and it seems like you understand the uphill battle its going to be. I say more power to you if you want that route and hope it works for you🙂. None of us as nothing more then future M1s can really have much to say about it

So you got in? Congrats 🙂 My mother had an amazing endocrinologist that went to Ross. It doesn't mean that you'll make a bad doctor or anything, yes it may be a bit more difficult to get a residency, but you just have to work hard at it like you would anything you wanted 🙂
 
<--- CA resident. I've got presidents day off of work (I work in a hospital so that bodes well for future presidents days as a doctor) and school. Also, because my lab class has Mon/Wed sections in addition to my Tuesday/Thursday section, I get Tuesday morning off too. No o-chem lab Tuesday!

I guess Ross and SGU are not for everyone, especially if you have your eye on something a little competitive. In my case I have no reason to re-apply unless my recent MCAT score was above a 32 which is where the average came at Albany this year (they said it in their rejection letter).

Definitely go through every option and weigh those risks because it may not be great going to Ross for plenty of folks, which I understand.

If you've already made up your mind to go to the Carib then there is no point in arguing against it. Instead I will tell you that the best General Surgeon for laparoscopic & beriatric surgery where I work graduated from American University of the Carribean. Good luck.

Haha, well it's all warmed up for you. I'm anxious for april, hoping my mcat will look better (been working on ek 1001 physics), I'm hoping having microbio may help a tiny bit haha.
 
Wasn't feeling like going out earlier... now I'm wired and it's too late and none of my friends are doing stuff. I am whining. Haha.

In other news.. I went speed dating and met a couple of premeds... stories to follow if interested. 😉
 
Yea, I'll listen haha, I've been with the same guy for almost 6 years. He's shipping out to boot camp in a month :-\ but I like hearing these kinds of stories
