Word, I've just been crazy busy with summer school & secondaries.

Btw, I e-mailed osu and they are very quick to reply and seem friendly. My A & P class is acceptable... They mostly want to know it has a lab with dissection. Also, apparently they are fixing the website to reflect they require 1 course in biochem, not 1 semester. That is an important distinction for us folks on the quarter system.
 
I was very, VERY pleasantly surprised by Eclipse. Getting David Slade, who also directed 30 Days of Night, was what needed to happen to make Twilight sparklepires actually seem like BAMF vampires. I wrote a longer review for my mom message board, but yeah... it was actually really good, and I'm VERY critical of my vampire books/movies/shows.
 
Cornell was super nice on the phone.

The writing courses cannot be eclipsed by other more extensive writing experiences/courses in grad school, FYI

Check your spam!! Almost all of my messages were in spam until I made google screen messages with certain keywords out of spam (btw, don't separate by commas, use OR if you're doing the google filter thing... I made that mistake)

Integral of the upper one minus the integral of the lower one. There are more complicated methods for if the curves cross and ****, but you usually do that by finding the points of intersection and doing several differences of integrals. Don't overthink it. =)

Hey Flow, I wanted to ask you, when you started dancing, how did you start? Around here all I can find for adults is either ballet or hip hop with nothing in between. I've taken ballet as an adult but I really don't love it; I don't like the culture. Hip hop is really not my thing either and I'm way too tall to do anything with a partner (ballroom). Suggestions? I'm going to start skating again in a few weeks and I want to augment it with dance classes, but no more ballet.

If I was a woman, I wouldn't want to do ballet, either. F pointe.

I took a ballroom class on campus when I first got into real dancing (had been doing glowsticks/fire for a while before that). Believe me, tall guys will love having you around for dancing and a lot of our guys at my studio are tall. It's not super hard to find a tall partner. I hate (ballroom) dancing with short chicks. I would also recommend an adult beginner jazz class. Jazz is the coolest thing ever, but as my jazz teacher put it, it's like the ugly step sister of the dance community (possibly because it's so diverse).

Yesterday I actually spent 10 minutes talking a friend out of sending schools a picture with cleavage. She just doesn't pay attention to things like that and picked out one where she looked good head-on. Hopefully I didn't screw her over for getting interviews/acceptances.

I'm looking at UPenn right now and thinking "But I don't wanna make up 1000 characters for 3 of my experiences about how they helped me develop as a person, a leader, and in terms of commitment."

ugh I am already tired of secondaries.

A feel like I just got started seriously. I'm a little overwhelmed, but it will be better once I've finished and submitted at least a few.

:laugh: she may have been more successful with the cleavage. jkjk. But yeah, I think I'm going to have my friend take my picture for me. 😛

I hate taking pictures because I have braces right now. They come off in a few months though, but I look so awkward smiling. Not to mention I was hoping to do interviews with them off, looks like that won't be happening.

Soo I really don't have any significantly leadershippy experiences (just got elected pres of a club, but I haven't actually done anything yet), so I think I may make being a leader in dance an analogy for being a leader in general. lol.

If any of your secondary apps ask for pictures, make sure yours isn't fuzzy and vaguely reminiscent of a log floating on a lake--you've really let the ball drop on that in the past.

Does anyone else feel like they're getting better at writing secondaries as they go on? I feel like my secondary essays are getting better, and I wish I could go back and change some of my essays in ones I have already submitted. Especially for the fit and diversity essays.

Actually, yeah, I feel like each "draft" is better. I'm lucky that I haven't submitted yet. But honestly, I don't really know if these essays mean nearly as much as the PS.
 
This has been my life since Friday:

write, edit, submit, pay.... sleep.... repeat

I'm done with 5 of the 6 secondaries I've received. I would be done with all of them except I spent the day at the DMV getting my driving record. 1 ticket in the last 5 years.... should have gone to traffic school haha.

Now I've gotta get back to my summer school homework....👎
 
I'm so jealous that you guys actually get to work on your secondaries already. I'm still sitting here waiting for AMCAS to verify my app. /sigh😴

my credit card statement is proof that it isn't all that great 😛.

I applied to 26 schools so I'm trying to knock them out as I get them so I don't get overwhelmed.

UVM wants to know all of the speeding tickets I've had in the last 5 years. I couldn't remember :laugh:. I should have gotten it while I was waiting on secondaries to arrive, but I didn't know they would ask that.

These schools are really interested in knowing everything. Most schools ask what you have been convicted of, but MCW wants to know what you have been charged with too, even if you were found not guilty or the charges were dropped.

Haha I know. I was explaining the steps to my friend today, and she goes "So do the schools pay to fly you out for an interview?" When I told her no, she was absolutely flabbergasted. I then told her the whole process would probably cost me upwards of $3000 and she almost had an aneurysm.

I hate when they tell you the limit in "words". It's very misleading, especially since my mindset is in "characters" since writing my personal statement. e.g. 500 word limit is not very fun.

I have a friend who applied MD last year but got rejected. She had no clue how ridiculous the whole process actually was haha! Once I start adding dates, people get totally confused:

"I sent my primary application on June 1.
After the primary application, schools begin sending out secondary applications in late June to late July.
After that, I really hope to get some interviews in August before school starts. But interviewing will last from August to January, possibly later.
In October, it would be really great to get an acceptance--the earliest schools can accept people is the 15th, but it's entirely possible to not have an acceptance until May."

people usually stop me there, before I talk about having to drop all schools but one in the 15th except for schools where you're on the waitlist.

Maybe I would be getting an A in calculus if I wasn't watching SYTYCD right now....

Though Family Guy is slowing me down a bit, I've finally started a bioethics paper that's due tomorrow: Should new drugs be given to terminally-ill patients outside clinical trials?

I say no. What do you guys think?
