Long night on call. Two different clients. Still technically on for 2 more hours...I hope to god I don't get called back. So sleeeeepppyyyy.

my sleep was just interrupted by a call informing me of a fulltime chem eng job offer in big pharma (even tho i did nothing the whole summer and used my time to apply to med schools) hahaha

So glad I get the "over 9000" reference now.

I am srsly dragging my feet on this long secondary. Thank god it's my last. If I ever have to go through this process again, I don't know how I'd stomach it.
 
I'm the same way, Daisy. I have been dragging my feet about my last secondary. I have had it for too long and I need to just suck it up and do it. I just don't feel like writing.

Yeah, if I already had 10 interviews like you, I'd probably be over it too :laugh: I like this school though, so there's extra pressure to write something of which I'm not embarrassed.

Edit: see, I'm in essay mode. I automatically made that last sentence not end in a preposition even though it sounds more awkward.

Haha...by comparison, yesterday's activity on this thread was quiet indeed. Probably because I was at research all day goofing off..and then came home to deal with drama! 😛

*sigh* Hopefullly there is some resolution to my drama haha.

On a more positive note, I've booked hotels/flights for most of my interviews....and boy do they burn a hole in your wallet! I think I dropped nearly a grand in the span of a few minutes *swoons*...only because these two schools don't offer student hosting so I had to spring for a hotel.

I am officially on vacation until Monday morning!!! Wheeeeeeeeeee! Long night last night but it was totally worth it and much better than a single 25 hour birth.

Also, I got a "promotion" and will be getting a temporary paid gig at the hospital🙂 So happy. Rhino, this means I will be in your hood more if you ever want to get cupcakes😉


For now...it is gym time.

hey guys. sorry i haven't been around. i've got like 3 15 page papers to write gahhh


i bought three olives espresso infused vodka tonight. so far i give it a 9/10 (with 1 being bankers club and 10 being petron silver...never tasted a vodka that tasted like nothing so much like petron does)

+1 This is a really really great problem to have (and really, I'm happy) but it's already been hard to catch up and I'm only 3 weeks in...

Plus, losing my weekends to airports is a little lame. Here's hoping for a big envelope coming my way around October 15.

Jaxa asked me today how my life was outside of the app cycle and I realized....I have no life outside of the app cycle🙁


I am so happy to be home tonight. I slept all afternoon and I think i will watch a movie and then sleep all night.

im sooooo tired, and even though i took a 2 hour nap today, i feel like i can just sleep for 15 hours straight right now

haha honestly, this week has been a good break from all the drinking and partying. its been like 4 WHOLE days without some sort of alcohol.
 
I feel a little lame that I am reading the ~130 page student handbook of the school I am interviewing at next week on a Friday night.

So I have to get up in about 4 hours to drive some people to the airport, and I'm wide awake. Too many brownies and cupcakes. I'm a combination of an 8 year old and a grandma. I hope in a good way.

Hey, can you settle a baking dispute?
Do you automatically assume when baking that any butter is unsalted butter or salted butter?

Oooh that IS a big debate. I usually use salted butter unless it specifies unsalted, which is totally against what you're "supposed" to do. Most real bakers use unsalted always, which makes sense because you can totally control the salt content, but salted is better for frosting because it cuts the sweetness from the sugar. So I think it's really a matter of preference. And most of the time doesn't matter at all.

This talk reminds me of Paula Deen. Love her.

edit: I think I got excited and my grammar went out the window

edit again: just looked at the Magnolia frosting recipe and I'm totally wrong, they call for unsalted. But I always use salted in frosting. Weird.
 
I knew it!!!!! I do unsalted, and my friend said I was stupid.

But then, her idea of gourmet cookies is buying cookie dough and cooking it on tin foil in her toaster oven.

:laugh: toaster oven? Does that even work? I never get the whole buying cookie dough thing. If you're really short on time it makes sense, but cookie dough is pretty quick to whip up. And it takes some time I guess to figure out the whole baking part of it (much easier to mess up) but it's SO much better.

Anyway, quick synopsis since nothing special but at least it was a little fun from this application cycle stuff: got to go to someone's luxury box for free at the Mets game, have some food, see a game, etc. I'm not a mets fan, but it was fun, and the new stadium is nice. Their team... not so much.
 
Last night in my hotels bistro in the lobby, almond pound cake with whipped vanilla cream and strawberries... Mmmm so good! I felt the need to add to this food talk 🙂

so i was at a club last night, and i realized my game has devolved into me talking about how im going to be a doctor. wtf, i used to know how to charming at one point, i swear
only plus side to this was that the last girl i talked to right before i left -> her friend comes up and says 'my roommate likes you, but what are your credentials?' then i dropped like 5 minutes of them and just left with them dumbfounded :laugh:

:laugh::laugh: I'd laugh, but I know it's going to work on some girls. I don't think I could find a man in the club by telling him that, though.

I actually haven't run any med/premed game at all, although I have friends who mention it sometimes, or my ballet teacher nicknamed me "doc" lol.

(side fact: back in high school when none of us really realized the long road, that was also my nickname with some of my friends and then I hated it when I was like "no I'm nowhere close and don't know anything.")

I love almond flavoring, it's probably my favorite flavor. Especially in lattes. Plus the reason so many people love funfetti cake I think (beyond the obvious awesome appearance) is there's a little almond flavoring in the batter.

When people find out I'm applying they ask me medical questions, as if I already know a bunch of stuff about medicine, which I definitely don't.
