There's an awesome new TV show called Are You Fitter Than a Senior

You basically watch fat kids get blown away in physical activities by wrinkly old fitness fanatics. It's pretty much the best thing ever.

It's a long story, but I'm usually not this void of activities. The past few days I've been somewhere where I can't do much of anything besides sit at home and peruse the internets. It's a sad existence.

Tomorrow = relocating to the land of freedom + girlfriend time + fireworks. VERY NICE!

I imagine if the mods were willing to evaluate the TOS very strictly, his posting of that lady's resume could probably be construed as bringing unwanted attention to her (although I'm not sure how far that argument would fly, since it is technically available online).

I am as well. I actually didn't have anything against Aggies at first.

Then I went to Kyle Field for a game and was harassed constantly. My opinion changed after.

I don't know...if they start going on a banning spree then gettheleadout might try to throw me out too. Keep up the good fight over there though its pretty funny.

Same thing here I look like a loser cause I'm posting on SDN at 1:30 on a Sat night. I need to see some more fireworks tomorrow though...they canceled like all the fireworks around here for the last couple years.

I live in a somewhat rural area (not really, but there's not much immediately around our neighborhood), so I plan on buying some fireworks tomorrow and going crazy. 👍

Yeah a lot of my friends are starting their app cycles right now. They're all lateish applicants though (most haven't submitted yet/are studying for their MCAT) and it pains me to watch =\

We have babby's crib! It's still in a box, unassembled, but it's here! I feel slightly more prepared now, even if the kid isn't going to sleep in it for the first several weeks anyway.

I'm just glad he took my quote out of his signature (especially because he left out the disclaimer I wrote at the beginning. It was there for a reason..!). I felt like my advice was becoming guilty by association

One of my college friends applied this past cycle, had 3 interviews, and is still on 3 waitlists. 🙁 I feel so bad for her; she's already submitted her primary again for this cycle, but is still holding out hope for an acceptance. So painful. :xf::xf::xf:

Also, I got the official results of my 5k, and I placed 13th overall, out of 110 people! How's that for my first race ever 😎

There was an undergrad in my lab last summer when I was applying. I kept telling her that I was already done with my application and had started my primaries, and that she was behind... but she took her time. It pained me when she only started getting interviews in January (and I had already been done for like 3 months) and then only getting waitlisted. She even managed to snag an interview at GWU - jealous - but still... that was so late in the year... so waitlist. She finally got off a waitlist last week! To a school I personally would never be able to attend (too rural and primary focused) but hey, atleast she got in somewhere

meanwhile, I keep giving tips to my new undergrad applying this year. But she already had early assurance to a school. I keep forgetting, haha.

EDIT: I hate FlatEarth. I will punch him if I ever meet him. Just a giant giant troll of a kid.

It was more the "if the mods were willing to evaluate the ToS very strictly" blah blah whatever. There are a lot of users here that skirt the edge of the ToS almost constantly, and it can be very frustrating. As far as that resume goes, you're right, it's public, so it's not really a violation of that person's privacy.

Anyway... Everyone enjoying the holiday weekend?

Aw man that's rough. I actually have a buddy, super duper smart dude, I think he's one of the most interesting and fun to talk to people I know. He got rejected one cycle and was on only waitlists until just last week. He was about to submit a third time. The process it not nice to some people =(

Ugh packing is such a PITA. Makes me want to fully embrace the minimalist thing and buy IKEA furniture. I would prefer to never move another giant solid piece of decorative wood again.

Speaking of consoles, I really want to hop back in the console market, especially since Netflix seems to be available on all of them, which would be much better than running it through a crappy VGA cable from my computer. I haven't owned a console since the GameCube just came out.

Any suggestions? I can't decide if I want to get a current gen one for cheaper or wait until the next gen comes out. I'm thinking about the PS3 for the Blu-ray player.

PS3 would probably be smarter if you want Blu-ray cause you'd have to get a seperate player with xbox360. I own 0 Blu-ray movies probably cause I tend to rip a lot of them off the internet. I've had a 360 all through college and I'm a big fan of xbox live. I use netflix through xbox live and it has hulu plus now too (if you have a subscription). Some people hate it cause of the yearly subscription fee though but I don't really care about paying the 50 bucks a year.

I'm doin the same thing as you no cable...ATT U-verse for 20 bucks a month. Does your laptop have HDMI out?

Ha I'll have to bring my xbox if I want to watch tv without connecting my laptop every time. I know what you mean though...I'll have to disconnect my xbox or go somewhere else when I need to study. Especially after doing basically nothing this last semester except screwing around and playing black ops with my friends

Nah, just VGA. Otherwise I wouldn't mind using my laptop as a tuner of sorts.

I really don't find myself missing cable. Right now, I wish I could watch True Blood, but it's not worth the extra ~$80/month. I'm sure I'll feel the same way (even moreso) about Dexter in the fall.

PS3 for the blu-ray player is definitely appealing. I'm pretty happy with our X-box 360, personally. Personally, I wouldn't get a Wii, at least not as my only console, because I prefer the more complex games/better graphics that the PS3 and 360 generally offer.

ooo on a random note - due to you guys, I finally watched the first four seasons of Dexter a few months back. I will finish it once I get done with grad school... *cough*and I will not mention the method that allowed me to watch that show. haha

This may not be true any longer, but I think you can pick up an Xbox setup and the price difference between that and a PS3 will be approximately the price of a basic blu-ray player. I like XBL, even though they do charge annually for it.

If you plan on playing games... I'm a western RPG/shooter/racing game sort of person, so the Xbox has far more games that appeal to me than the anime/eastern RPG/weird games/hack and slash oriented PS3.
