Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
about a year ago, i was awful with that, and even now i have bouts of putting off work, but if you just constantly attack it, you should be able to stay relatively on your game.

for example, even if you are are bored as hell after class, take 10-15 mins, and read through the lecture notes. If you do this again at some point later in the day, simply reading, you'll be so on top of everything, it's like a miracle lol.

another trick i use - i pretend like the test is 2 days earlier than it really is

or if it's worst case, and there's a test in 2 days, BEST ADVICE EVER - turn off the computer, TV, go to the library. In all honesty, the times that I have crammed were the most productive studying i've ever done. If I could sustain that same intensity of studying earlier on, I'd have killed my courses.

Hi everybody!

I'm hoping to be class of 2015. Just took my MCAT last weekend. Physical science and verbal were great, bio was a bloodbath! I'm praying I get a decent score so I don't have to retake. 🙂

welcome! a bunch of us are in the same position. fingers crossed!

IV i do that test trick with reservations for my family...i tell them the time is 15-30 min earlier than it actually is, so everyone is relatively on time.

for some reason i feel like you do that trick so you're relatively on time

Welcome, blackwell!

Also, cuteness!

i don't know if geekchicklet appreciates her anonymity being compromised in that fashion

so i'm chatting with this girl who's studying here from germany on IM, and we're just talking, and luda comes on my music, and i just jokingly type " i wanna lick lick lick lick you from your head to your toes" ... cause there was an awkward silence, but now i think she thinks i'm making a move on her arghh

....................................................1) i loved that song when it was popular
2) WHY WOULD YOU TYPE THAT TO SOMEONE

alsooo, ms, NO YOU"RE WRONG. i am on time everywhere. i'm really obsessed with not being late, actually. it stresses me out sometimes. my family is alwayyyyssss late.

IV: when i was in middle school (when that song was popiular) i was talking to some guy on IM. i obvi was crushing kinda hard, and i was talking to another girl friend at the same time and was trying to send her the lyrics bc i thought they were funny. i control c'd control v'd entered and realized i sent the lyrics to this new guy friend. awkward. he was like "what a compelling song" after the longest pause in the world.

ok tiger. creep.

wait what?? how was i a creep? lol i was being playful. idk, dont you guys joke about stuff like that among your friends?

Do any of you guys use the school selector spreadsheet to choose schools for application? I don't know how many hopeful, go for it, and high chance schools I should include. Def not touching any of the three long shot ones; I have no substantial research

LOL, i've had similar experiences, but i was on the receiving end.

I doubt she cares, considering how she acts whenever there's a camera pointed at her. 😛
maybe she's simply trusting her mother to not pimp her out to the world!

i used it to help me generate my preliminary list of ~30 schools which i'm whittling down. wouldn't take the stats too seriously though

just watch, in 20 years, geekchicklet is gonna apply to med school, she'll be a celeb on SDN lol

And what factors did you use to generate your list? I'm sitting with the MSAR open and the excel spreadsheet and I feel like I'm blindly picking, ugh. Are you hitting many of the go for it and high chance schools??

i have one friend who says stuff like that to me as a joke. i never know how to respond...

i use it all the time. it's on my d'top

with friends sure. not with exchange students that i am only quasi friends with. haha

i copy pasted my aim password once to my friend..., cause somehow later on, i was trying to send him something, so i hit ctrl-c but i didn't press it fully or something, so it didn't register, so when i hit ctrl-v my password got stuck in the IM.

that was a disaster, because as you all know, back in ~2002 the aim password changer never worked...

the sheet (i use the apumic mod) is a bit skewed for me because of my lopsided gpa/mcat balance, but i initially made 10 from the "best chance," 10 from "good chance" and 10 from "reach." it's a bit easy for me because i'm heavily biasing it geographically, and any school with something that pops out at in me in the MSAR (e.g. columbia has a nice thing about how every year they'll take a few with some academic weakness in the past based on the promise they show)

HAHAHA i did something really similar once (i was on a mac and didnt really understand how to do anything) and my friend got my password. she was likie "what? whats that" and i'm all "oh it's the name of a band i'm thinking of forming" and shes like "cool, thats a good name"

sooo smooth

oh you must use a really obvious password if you were able to play it off like that. even when i was 13 i used a alpha-numeric password, so no hiding that one.. lol

Oh ok, thanks. I'm not getting anywhere with my school selection. Still at the 10 I had from last week. I also need to stop eating ice cream when I pick out schools. Stress = no self control

something that also helped me is that my ugrad premed office maintains placement stats from my school, so we can see what med schools like us

nope, it was alpha numeric. there are bands with numbers in the names...it could have worked. she could have been being nice about it and realized i sent my password, also. hahaha.

i just made some bomb pasta for dinner

i just made some bomb pasta for dinner

Now I'm craving pasta

i'm craving steak or a burger. i think i'll grill for dinner tomorrow

I don't think any med school likes UWashington students, not even UW

I'm craving food in general, but my husband isn't home yet and I don't cook. Damn, I'm going to eat Ramen and Spaghetti-Os for 4 years if I move away for med school.

i'm in, a grill for 2

you're always invited.

you can come too. but since i dont know you i expect you to bring some booze.

Cooking's easy! It's basically just chemistry!

it's not even that hard.

i have endless hunger tonight. i'm hoping this tea will put that to a halt.

ha i grabbed a handful of semi-sweet chocolate chips

i don't really like frozen chocolate that much. i feel like i cant taste it as well.

i agree, its a cost/benefit. Frozen - you'll prob eat less, but taste suffers. Regular - you'll prob eat more, but taste is amazing
