Fun stuff. =) I work in peds too, but don't get a whole lot of patient contact anymore. It's sad because the little ones can be so much fun.

Does SDN get like this every interview season? With everyone on edge and losing what little common sense they initially had, blaming other applicants for their not getting interviews?

I never noticed the really awkward "M" before! You are so right about it.

In other news, my Blackberry has gone nuts with emails today - so naturally I've been neurotically checking it on the first blink. Still, no more interview invites. Wah, just had to be sad about it for a second. 👎
 
well LizzyM just sent me a PM that might explain why, in addition to applying late and having a lower MCAT/GPA, I didn't get an interview last time I applied. I used a difficult/challenging story that ADCOMs just might not have liked 🙁 (dealing with guy that was trying to break into girls rooms and me kicking him out of my school). Though I still think the story describes me oh so well.

Aw that sucks. It's always incredible to me that one thing can potentially ruin your application, even when it's something that's not inherently bad about you. I'm assuming you didn't talk about that in this cycle, since you have so many interview invites now?

Rock on, app buddy! Stick up for what you believe in!! I totally used a story about an incarcerated family member - only on like two secondaries though, so hopefully if there are any ramifications they're not felt too harshly. I just want to get another stinkin' interview!! I'm so proud of you with your 11! 👍

Well several things ruined my application two years ago but this might have contributed to it. I only mentioned it this year in one application and they didn't get back to me (but it was also a reach school). And I think all the schools that look at previous applications (where I mentioned this story) as well as your current application also have not gotten back to me [Maybe one of them did but I don't think that school looks at old applications]. But luckily I didn't talk about it this time -- had a much more challenging situation in the past year.

Nah, still don't know what school she is at. i just PMed her (she was responding to the sad story thread and I was curious about her take on my story). I'm worried that she will be able to figure out who I am though....

Hour 1 - sprained my wrist putting my suitcase in the car. Jet Blue check in guy shares his tolblerone with me.

Hours 3-5 - small child kicking the back of my seat and screeching during the redeye flight

Hours 5-7 - no sleep but some good Three's Company episodes on the plane

Hour 8 - Boston is an f'ed up place to drive in. Glad I'm not dead. On the upside, the rental car guy said I was the friendliest west coaster he had ever met.

Hour 9-9.5 - blissful sleep

Hour 10 - blissful shower

Hours 11-12 - sitting in my BFFs class; totally awesome.

Hour 13 - Chipotle.

Hours 15-18 - It turns out all of Massachusetts is an f'ed up place to drive in.....like $18 in tolls later.

Hour 19 - nice hotel...but restaurant only serves breakfast.

Hour 20 - having trouble finding a place to deliver food. Shaking with hunger. This town blows. I want to stab everyone in the neck. With a spoon. Ruined manicure and no one in this town has the tools to fix it.

Hour 21 - best steak of my life delivered. Cougs is happy. This town is wonderful. I want to buy everyone a puppy and give them a hug.

Hour 22 - sadness that the URM thread was destroyed by haters....but it will always live on in my memory.

Now..... Sleep.

Any hot ladies are probably not on SDN. If you take out the 'hot' requirement, there's a darling young filly named Once that seems overly confident and has great grades due to abandoning all friendships... :laugh:
 
Speaking of hot... MAN is it a hot day today in SoCal! I thought we were finally getting some nice fall weather but guess not!! 🙁
