Its easier to say "British" than talk about any specific dialects. Besides, I know a few people from England who refer to themselves as "Brits" and who refer to their accent as "British."

The same can be said to people out of the US who refer to the "American accent." Which do THEY mean exactly?

I think most people outside of the US think of the "Hollywood" accent they hear all the celebs speaking with as the American accent, since they get all our movies and most of our music.

In America, I think most people think whatever accent they speak with is the "American" accent. I've heard of CA people going to the deep South and having the locals tell them they speak funny.
 
people ask me where my accent is from sometimes. which is crazy. lol.


ive always been a palm girl (treo for the win) but then I had to switch to blackberry (storm/curve, omg bleh) and then back to the palm (pre, double bleh). I got a driod incredible saturday. so far its kicking ass.
 
teaching a youth fitness class today. i'm going to make those kids never want to come back :laugh:
 
Anyone else think there will be an increase in interview offers next week. I think after Friday a lot of people may cancel oos interviews if they get into their state school. If there are cancelations then that means open interview spots.

All seems to be quiet on the Texas front today... no one posting anything about interview invites or anything.
 
wow this thread has become crazy slow lately, it's pretty crazy to think about how close the 15th is!

I'll start up a reliable topic: I'm making carrot cake and pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting this weekend. Also found a recipe for Chai cupcakes. I love fall!

Also, just got that book just here trying to save a few lives in the mail and very excited to start reading it. 👍
 
Ducky, is that a pumpkin cupcake recipe you know and love? If so... can I have it as well? I want to make the same thing this weekend.
 
I just got home from some AWESOME dessert....we had a big dessert sampler and a chocolate lava cake. It was awesome🙂

Nothing was pumpkin though....that would have made it even better.


Duckie, the Andes brownies were a HUGE hit; I am going to make another batch when I get home.
 
i'd rather have pumpkin pie, so can it be thanksgiving already?

I have yet to make pumpkin cupcakes but was planning on using the recipe in my new Martha Stewart cupcake cookbook (the recipe is also on her website).

Also, the best carrot cake recipe I've found is a triple layer one from epicurious.com (replacing half the oil with applesauce) if anyone was wondering. So tasty.

And today when I flew in, I could see all the trees changing color. Makes me hate where I live even more🙂

Yay! The first chapter and the last couple of chapters are stories of her being an emergency doc in third-world countries so it's more heart-breaking than chest-cracking, but the middle of the book is straight action 🙂

speaking of books, i just started reading this book today and was like 50 pages in after 20 minutes i was enjoying it so much
 
has anyone else noticed how much more work 4th year is compared to all previous years??? or is it just me??

on a happier note i beat my roommate today in a best of 5 at super smash bros 😀

I'm getting destroyed this semester trying to balance the everything that comes with interviews, trying to have a hobby, and a still-tough cheme workload. So yes, I have. Lol.

The majority of my work is coming from two 1-credit courses. I have one of those courses again next semester, too. It's already pissing me off. Plus my schedule next semester is super weird and is also killing my dreams of having a dance-filled final semester. =\
