my good friend who is in med school right now had ONE interview way late in the process, got off the waitlist, and is a happy med student. long process. lose not the hope, yoda says. fear leads to anger.. anger to hate.. and so on. yes.

Wow, sounds like an intense diet! I'm a terrible dieter, I have zero willpower when it comes to delicious foods.

I am sooo going to make those! Ok...I have a sad admission...does anyone else ever randomly read over their AMCAS to try to see what the adcoms are seeing??

Also, I was just asked if I had any ethnical diversity in my history..because my top choice likes that...🙁 That is literally something I have zero control over.

Yeah, I do too. I like this website, though. I can input all my food and it tells me how many calories I'm allowed/left in the day. It helps a LOT. Food is worth a lot more calories than you think (I'm looking at YOU, caesar salad dressing...). Once I get more used to the new calorie restrictions and all I'll start exercising more regularly. It told me I can reach my goal weight (which is *cough*-ty five pounds less than I was when I started) by my next birthday. I like that goal. 👍

Yeah, I had the "Lose It!" app on my iPod touch and it does all that, plus calculates how many cals you'll burn doing a bunch of different exercises. Even though I could literally take it anywhere with me, I never stuck to it for more than a day.

thank you everyone for the congratulations! Robochicken -- I'm very excited to here we interviewed at the same school on the same day. 🙂 congrats on your acceptance! and Sorry we didn't get to meet. I tend to keep my mouth shut on my love of the SDN forum when I meet people since most pre-meds make fun of SDN-users (or atleast they have been at the interviews I have attended.)

So I got a cheesesteak at Abner's. It was OK. Their waffle fries were super good tho. Grabbed a Heineken to go with it. Man being 21 is expensive, as is philly. Went to scoop deville and spent $7 on a freakin ice cream... which was super delicious! Overall I could see myself enjoying Philly but also going into massive debt in order to support the penn med out of school lifestyle lol. I really wanted to go to a club tonight but I have to be up by 5 AM tomorrow so that I can make sure I get to my flight, so that didn't end up happening, although I did walk around a good bit just to check everything out. Really a neat place, Center City.

Abner's? I'm sorry, man. You should have asked, I could have taken you for a real cheesesteak. Philly is great, but there are a lot of cheaper, fun places to go out too. Not that Penn kids necessarily go to them...

Scoop de Ville is great though! Just a rare treat.

Yeah man, I didn't feel like walking down to Pat's, and Abner's is what one med student recommended, although everyone I asked was like "I don't eat cheesesteaks." lol

Scoops was awesome. Although it was super sugary and now my stomach is a little upset hahaha.
 
Yeah, Pat's (or Geno's) is more than a hop, skip, and a jump from campus. It's easily 2mi away on the other side of the river.

I ended up getting ice cream over in Manayunk tonight because I've been craving it for months, pure awesomeness. =) Feel better, Flow!

Wow, so many new acceptances! Congratulations, you guys! RoboChicken and Avoidthetiger, I saw you guys in the same school thread that I was accepted to. Just sent my deposit in yesterday, 95% sure this is the school for me. We might be classmates!
 
So, who in the class of 2015 already knows what specialty they want to go into, and, if so, which specialty?
 
Hm, so two nights of good sleep cannot make up for a week's worth of bad sleep. This whole interview process is turning me into a zombie! Haha.

On top of that, UTMB may be playing a cruel joke on me by showing up in my TX match rank list even though I never interviewed there. It makes me worried that either the interview invite got lost in the internet and I missed the boat, or that it was a silly computer error and they didn't ever mean to show me any love. Oh well, the admissions office told me they'd check on it and send me an email. Can't wait for the weekend to be over! Hopefully they just checked the wrong box on my application and meant to send me an invite this week, but instead marked me as complete?

Also, do you think that this shirt is awesome or tragic? I'm considering ordering it.
 
The shirt is totally awesome. A few months back I sent it to my research adviser so she could get matching ones with her kid.

don't lose more than 2 pounds a week or you wont be able to maintain the weight loss. read about set point theory and that'll help you understand a little more why. feel free to PM with any specific questions.

Just got home from a good experience in Florida. Met some great people, learned some things about what I might like in a curriculum. Had a nice rejection sitting on my desk for me when I got home :laugh:. Stat ***** schools 🙄.

I woke up at 4am EST to catch a plane. I got to my "home" airport at 11:30 PST. I actually got home for the first time to drop my stuff at 2p PST. And now, at 8:35 PST, I am finally home home and in bed.

I am so glad I was smart enough to put clean sheets on my bed and lay comfy PJs out. It has been a long day🙂

I don't plan to. I only lost about 2 pounds this week and that's what I expect. I think the first week was just my body going OMFG WTF is going on!
