Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Yea I suffered from depression my first two years of uni, but I managed to overcome it thanks to some very good friends of mine who wouldn't give up on me. Often times I felt stupid and worthless during those years, but its funny how well you think you know me based on a few internet posts that may or not even be true. That psychoanalysis stuff could help make you millions.

I don't feel bad for you. Sorry. 😎

Poll time!

1. What are your Thanksgiving day plans?
2. How do you prefer your turkey? (smoked, fried, roasted... brined?... white meat or dark?)
3. What's your usual menu like?
4. What's your favorite side dish?
5. What's your favorite dessert?

1. as I have every year, going to my aunt and uncle's dairy farm and having a big old fashioned family Thanksgiving 🙂
2. Smoked turkey is DELICIOUS, but for Thanksgiving I like a ginormous roasted turkey.
3. We have all the usual stuff (turkey, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, rolls, salad, stuffing, green beans, gravy, cranberry sauce) and of course pies (pumpkin, 2 kinds of apple pie, pecan)
4. mashed potatoes! We have regular ones and ones with cheese, chives, and onions. But really I love all the sides. I love Thanksgiving. Especially the days after when you can make huge leftover sandwiches. Now I'm getting really hungry.
5. For dessert I usually have pieces of every kind of pie, but Dutch apple pie is my absolute favorite!

@ Playa, instead of bashing the hell out of you, which I would/could do, I will drop some knowledge on you. The things you consider having a life: friends, bars, drinking, partying is really what will prevent you from having the life you want (since you're on SDN I'm assuming you want to be a physician). After high school I went to college and I did ALL of those things and a lot more. Result: I dropped out of college and ended up getting a random girl pregnant. After college, that is where real life begins. You will find that IRL you will need a good job, money matters, girls you meet at the bar are not worth the time, there is more to life than your friends, eventually you won't want to party with young people, and a lot of old people parties are full of sad people who never "gave it up."

I have a life, which includes an awesome family and (since I've actually been accepted to medical school) soon will include an awesome job that will provide me with a lot of professional satisfaction and a comfortable lifestyle.

I hope you get your **** together and figure out life after college will be highly dependent on the work you put in now. College is 4 years, but the rest of your life is a lot longer.

Take the cotton out of your ears and put it in your mouth.

rhino has had his grown up hat on a lot lately  haha, i'm just playin man. you know all i have is love for you.

thanks for the avatar love, cougs. if you need any more recharging you know where to find me.

😳 I'll stop. There has always been a ton of stuff I've wanted to say, but for anonymity reasons could not. I'll probably never share everything I want to, since this is the internet and all. I've come a long way from where I was to make it to medical school.

1. Dinner with the family courtesy of me. This will be my second year cooking a full Thanksgiving meal
2. Roasted dark meat
3. Turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, lasagna, collard greens, cranberry sauce, cornbread, and at least 2 different types of pies
4. MASHED POTATOES 😀
5. For thanksgiving? Definitely have to go with pumpkin pie. Or pumpkin pie cheesecake (made by me)

I'm hungry now...

lasagna?! can i come to your house?

Hey congrats to all you guys who got into med school! Hopefully if I find a way to get my **** together soon, maybe I can have a post like this after a while.

Im vegetarian so no Thanksgiving for me 🙁 (that and my family is Hindu so we never really felt the Thanksgiving spirit in our home even though its not a religious holiday). I would eat Tofurky but I hate tofu.

I wish more people had seen the seinfeld season 9 episode 10 "the strike" (I just googled it because I'm trying to find an upload to show a couple friends), because I reference it a lot.

The most notable quote, in terms of why I reference it, is:

George: (on Gwen) She's a two-face.
Jerry: Like the Batman villain?
George: (condescending) If that helps you.
Jerry: So if I ask her out again, I don't know who's showing up -- the good, the bad, or the ugly.

you turkeys better be working out some kind of calorie bank for the holidays. i'm not trying to hear a bunch of b!tching during january and february about how you wished you didnt eat so many of santa's cookies.

On Christmas we always have a ham and lasagna. I love Christmas food but Christmas Eve is way better. 😀

Yeaaahhh sounds like my Christmas Eve. Love eating with the Italian side.

Christmas day is like a kielbasa fest.

I already gained eight pounds from this application season.....

I need to start running again/hitting the gym lol

You know it! I hated being stuck in the hospital on Christmas Eve and Christmas when Chicklet was born (I had wanted to avoid being in the hospital for the holidays). My mom was a sweetheart and brought us dinner in tupperware but it just wasn't the same.

Best Thanksgiving meal?

Pour one handle of Jack Daniels over and in the turkey. Let sit/marinade for 2 hours. Throw turkey away, drink said Jack Daniels.

Not by myself, of course. And let's be honest, who couldn't use a little help through the holidays?
i mean i enjoy drinking myself, but why waste a turkey like that. that's where the confusion comes into play.

haha bleargh, i'm pretty sure you give me at least one 'lol' for real every day. thank you and the interwebz for making this a possibility.

you're a toss up between joke and fail. 😀

But really, just kidding. touche on wasting a turkey, i would never do that.
there are times when your statement is true.

Question for the married ladies in the thread... did you make your bridesmaids wear dresses that were not flattering?

I just bought a dress that I know I'll look bad in. Royal blue just doesn't do it for me. I guess that's the point of bridesmaids though, right? To make the bride look pretty.

I'm confused. Why is Ursa trying to get us to drink salmonella liquor, and why hasn't my avatar cousin even said "hi" to me?

Just saw Morning Glory....definitely helped the battery. It was everything I wanted it to be

i considered that point, but figured that an 80 proof liquor is a bit too stiff for a colony of salmonella.

Historically, they were supposed to look LIKE the bride. The belief was that evil spirits sent to curse the newlyweds would become confused, so you were protecting your friend or something.

If I was getting married again, the only difference is be that'd I'd put my friends in black instead of the deep red I chose, but it still looked nice. Their dresses were simple and everyone looked good in it. There were a few dresses I liked and we decided if they came to a consensus, we'd get that, or they could do the separates things and make their own dress in the chose color and fabric. Thankfully, they all liked my top choice dress (didn't tell them it was my fave til they picked it).

I think they discontinued that exact dress but it looked a lot like this one, only tea length, and "claret" color, which was a straight deep red.

This was my dress. My girls matched the trim on it (this is claret).

The last bridesmaid dress is wore was maternity and poo colored.

The only time I was a bridesmaid was for my sister's wedding. She chose taupe floor-length Badgley Mischka dresses, so not only were they expensive and ugly, but totally unwearable at any other occasion.

The person that did my fitting didn't factor in my boobs and so the whole dress hung way wrong. This was a year and a half ago, and I'm clearly still pissed about it :meanie:

I don't think I'll ever have a wedding. A civil ceremony is enough for me. I can't stand getting worked up over such minutia as whether or not to put a rose next to the dinner plate.

Personally, I think Vegas is the way to go.

😍 Don't care who wins, but I love me some football.

I don't care who wins either, but after having the day off school, I'm stoked to be watching the nfl on Thursday.

someone remind me that living at home is only temporary.
