Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is rHinO1's movie review of the week:

Eat, Pray, Love came out on DVD yesterday, and being the good bf that I am, I watched it with my gf. In my opinion it gets a 👎. Watching a flaky, rich woman and her "life is too hard" attitude for 2 hours was midly irritating. The chick didn't figure out a damn thing for herself once in the entire movie. Even at the end she was told exactly what to do. She seemed weak minded. Also, IRL I wouldn't be able to be around her for 5 minutes... b/c she would be that friend who in every conversations says something that begins with, "when I was in Rome..." or "I met this person in Bali..." Effing annoying. Who could afford to run off for a year to "find themself" anyway?

Only good part of the movie was seeing all the cool places she visited.

Couldn't agree more. She actually received an advance on the book to pay for the trip, so knowing that ruined it for me. If only we all have the option of traveling the world when we're stressed out.

And congrats on the acceptances everyone! Happy Thanksgiving indeed. Also, I started posting in this thread long before being accepted, I didn't know people refrained from posting until it was official 😳

Omg.. gone a few days for the holidays and I miss a lot... Geekypoo... you're going to be a doctor... in Philly!!! Holy Crap!

Now that I've carb-loaded with stuffing, potatoes and pie, I'm fueled up and ready to face the real holiday: Black Friday shopping day.

I wanna shop but I have no moneys.... and I never go on black friday so... conundrum.. I need new clothes for the winter. Gotta look extra fly. And what's up with the weather over here? Its still way too warm out.

Thanks Catalystic!! I love the festive avatar🙂

Happy Black Friday Everyone! 😀

I made an absolutely gorgeous apple pie I need to post a picture of when I get it from my husband's phone (my battery was dead).

Thanks. I usually don't get around to changing it until mid-December, when it's nearly time to return to the original. And she looks so good in that hat I wanted to enjoy it longer this year.

I'd have thought that your "Free AK-47" ad was a joke, but my local Wal-Mart has a rifle special, too, to celebrate the beginning of this season of peace and joy.

For whatever reason, the color quality on this picture isn't great, but it's all I got (it's from hubster's phone, mine was dead at the time). I am so proud of my lattice top, and my family told me it was the best apple pie they've ever had!

We went around the table to say what we're thankful for and I was last. I was all, "I'm thankful for the acceptance I got to Temple Medical school yesterday that none of you knew about until right now!" I got applause. 😀

no leftovers because i had thanksgiving at friends' houses... grrrr. i want some turkey sandwiches.

I think I'll be eating leftover turkey for a week. We got a 21 lb bird this year and everyone ate all the side dishes instead of the turkey. I'm thinking of shredding the turkey and seasoning it for turkey tacos one night and slow cooking it with some bbq sauce for pulled turkey sammiches another night.

Cliff, I wish you were here....I was sent home with leftovers from a friend's house and I'm going to have to throw all of it but the veggies away because it is just too much and/or stuff I wouldn't eat🙁

nah, remember you invented technology to send food through time.

i hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Black Friday!

i feel like i'm going to be sick soon. i have all the early signs - the scratchy throat, tired eyes, headache...anyone have any good preventative remedies?

Neti pot your nose (even if its not stuffy yet)

Take some Zicam and follow the directions about drinking liquids and orange juice, etc.

Then, drink a liter of water an hour for three hours

Then take a large dose of fish oil and vitamin C.

Then, take some nyquill, and sleep for 14 hours.

Works like a charm. I hope you feel better!!!!!

Barely survived working 8 1/2 hours of Black Friday retail, and round 2 tomorrow. Days like this really remind me of why I have goals and went to college

Oh mannnnnn, I hope those shoppers were nice to you!!!

I remember when I worked at a coffee shop...this day was BRUTAL. People were angry and wanted their caffeine so damn badly. I swear that every person who came up to the counter wanted to grab me by the collar and yell at me.

So, I forgot to book my hotel for my trip next week. But it was a good thing because after an hour searching for a good deal I found a super cute B&B....I am so excited to stay there!!! I'm really excited about this school too🙂:xf:

Edit: Also....I know I totally made fun of Gwenyth Paltrow's website....but then I read this article...and now I'm kind of a fan. I also sort of disgust myself. http://goop.com/newsletter/71/en/

Wow, I don't know how you handle that. So intense. I walked into a store hoping to get a TV today and found that everyone else had probably a 2 hour head start on me. I left empty-handed. Oh well...

yeah, i'm hoping to find a deal on a TV sometime before august.

that was awesome!

check out the east coast wolfpack at 3:30 today. if they win its on to the ACC championship!

dont worry ducky, all hail oregon.

Ditto🙂 I'm leaving a huge old tube TV behind...it isn't worth moving. I have totally been scurutinizing my stuff lately for what should come and what shouldn't. Like my bed, that TV, two of my couches...I need to have a massive garage sale.

the only furniture i'm concerned about bringing with me is my bed. i'll probably buy a new desk, tv, couch/chair once i get to where i'm going from a thrift store or something (obviously not the tv).

So part of me wants to cancel my last interview and basically wash my hands of interview season (though there's a small chance I'll be offered an interview at Penn if they change their mind). Hubster thinks I should just go, if nothing else, for funsies and a free lunch. I dunno.

Since it is in town....I say go. Free lunch is always good. There are a lot of boys who would never get dates without dangling that winner in front of a girl.

You should definitely go since more options are always better than less especially when financial packages come out.

PS I received a Penn invite soon after sending an update letter but they seem to like dragging their feet. I'm sure you'll get one though.

Clint, did you ever get the deferred status?

....free lunch!

Seriously though, because it is in town, you should go. It doesn't hurt and like someone mentioned, you could get accepted and receive a merit scholarship/great financial aid package.

Or you could attend the interview and do something crazy, like show up dressed as a pedo-bear.

So, because I feel like this is the last real year of my life, I am looking at all of the fun stuff I want to do that falls in a school year.

One of these things is the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen. It usually falls in April, but next year it is in June.

Anyone game?🙂 http://www.foodandwine.com/promo/classic-in-aspen/

I may be in Denver in June. So maybe yes. 🙂

IMO there are lots of reasons to go, but not many to not go.

I've been thinking about how I want to do that, too. I drive a car and I don't think all my stuff would fit in my car. Notably, my desk, bed, tv/entertainment center, etc.

if i get in to philly i'm getting rid of my car

And the Nevada Wolf Pack beats Boise in OT!

Who's the real wolf pack again? =P

:woot:

that was awesome!

I can't agree with this. What little hope there is (I know it's unlikely but I refuse to give up hope) that LSU will go to the MNC motivates me to cheer against everyone else. Sorries.

Jersey, I hope you're feeling better!

And Duckie...about the Honey Bun cake....I am embarrassed to give you the recipe because it involves using cake mix 😳

It's kinda funny, half of the schools I interviewed at, a car is pretty much an absolute necessity (Denver, Cleveland, Atlanta). The other half, it would be a PITA (Boston, Philly, Pitts-maybe).
Flow -- Can you please inform my parents that a car is a necessity in the city I live in. They won't believe me... and after surviving here for 5.5 years without one, I guess they are correct. Public transportation is pretty good here though... but with snow already here, I'm dreading walking to the grocery store. ughhhhhhhh.

regardless of where I go, I think my parents are going to try to talk me out of a car. They just don't want more expenses for me and I just don't want more loans. ughhh.

At a lot of schools, a car is a necessity when you start doing clinical rotations. Unless all of your rotations are in the hospital adjacent to the school you're at, you will need it.

Not only that, but more than EVER, when you have free time, distancing yourself physically and mentally from school and work is important. You can't do that as easily if you're trapped by public transportation. A spontaneous day trip after an exam can save your sanity🙂

Give them my phone number😉 I'll talk some sense into them.

oregon basketball is just plain bad, especially against Duke 😀

IMO there are lots of reasons to go, but not many to not go.

It's mostly that I don't feel like spending a Saturday at an interview (yeah, it's a Saturday interview... weird). Chicklet's birthday party is the weekend after that and then it's the weekend before Christmas (OMGWTFBBQ... it is!). It makes me nervous about shopping and all.
