God I hate targeted advertising. The last ten ads at the bottom of my SDN page have been for Louboutins, Prada, and David Yurman. It's like the interwebs knows I'm pouty about not having an acceptance yet and is trying to sucker me into indulging in a little retail therapy.
 
haha. Mine are all medical school related.

I have literally deleted almost all my info on fb just to avoid targeting ads. I even widowed myself to avoid the engagement/baby/marriage ads. ughhhhh. Somehow fb knows I am in a fake complicated relationship... so I mostly just get ADs for facebook games. which I have never played. silly facebook.

Cougs -- I have officially watched every episode of Psych Season 1-4 now! (I think I have seen all of season 5... but I am not sure)

i feel that daisy, i've been trying to channel the pouting into working out extra hard but i definitely let it spill over too often.. psych is one of the few things that still make me happy though 👍

But...um...I am watching HIMYM.....am I mistaken, or is Bob Saget no longer the older Ted narrating???

I still haven't watched all of Season 5; I am SO behind on my TV watching!!! I actually watch most of my TV these days on my iPhone via Hulu Plus. I have so little spare time🙁

Good luck on your final, I have my last final of undergrad tomorrow at 11 am. My last final is for a class called "circadian rhythms and biological clocks." It is really hard to study and stay focused, major senioritis. The only thing motivating me is my fear of losing my acceptance!

Thanks! I would, but as you know, the tuition bill is INSANELY high...this school is offering me in-state tuition after 1 year of OOS...if UIC did that, I'd probably go to UIC, but I doubt they'd do that.

Ooh, now my retail therapy advertisements are for Tory Burch. At least the material goods are dropping in price from $$$$$ to $$$$.

Yeah, I'm channeling the pouting into my update letter and searching for MHA programs in case I don't make the cut. I always wanted that degree too anyways.

Speaking of accumulating degrees, there's a guy on the UCSD website whose name is like "John Smith, MD, PhD, JD." It's like someone asked him which doctoral degree he wanted, and he replied "all of them."

Definitely keep channeling. Got my Cornell invite about a week after sending an update letter and a day after they got an additional LOR. I can't remember how UCSD responds to pre-interview updates (I know they don't take post-interview updates at all) but I still think its worth the effort!

Ah, UCSD dumped me long ago... but yeah I'm weeding through the school-specific threads one by one to find out which schools will take them. Thanks for the support though, raffle! 👍

Oh lol, I inadvertently combined the first two parts of your posts... update letter + UCSD. 😳. I sent those update letters to every school I haven't heard back yet, even if they said they didn't take them. I mean it can't hurt, right?

yeah the update letters are taxing to my mood even though they aren't particularly hard to write IMO. i know i'm starting to feel the heat because my insomnia is returning, i guess that means more time w/ you west coast folks 🙂

By the way, I figured out how to "discourage" muffinoniv's thread postings. Whenever he posts a new thread, someone just needs to go in and say "I hereby declare this thread be about _____" and just come up with a new topic. Has worked so far with a few of his threads 👍.

Today is my last genetics exam/class!! :soexcited: No more hard core studying this semester! woo hoo!

The sucky part - I graduate the 12th :soexcited: but have one last Eng final on the 14th. 😡 I guess the bright side is that it's an easy final and doesn't require a lot of studying. 😀
 
Compadres! I've been out of the loop so much lately. Can I instigate an ice breaker to find out what's new in everyone's life and how the app process is going (and hopefully wrapping up with top choice acceptances for some!)?

I've been ridiculously swamped at work - I haven't even checked statuses at schools I have yet to hear from in like two weeks! Oh wells.

Anyway, on top of working, I finished up my 4 credits for this quarter and presented a couple posters at an ENT conference! 👍 Anyway, still have a lot to catch up on here in my cubicle, but I will check back for responses! Eager to see good news from all of you!
 
Hey guys, I see there's some talk about update letters here. I intend to write a few once I get my final grade for my fall class. Is it appropriate to just say, "I recently completed a graduate level class in biology and earned an A," or do I need to provide some kind of proof? I'm led to believe that schools don't really want to deal with transcripts at this point, but does it mean anything to them to just say "hey I got an A?" Thank you!

Thanks Geekypoo. My thought process is that he's getting off on the attention, even if its not positive attention. If we ignore him on his own threads (and talk about something completely unrelated) he might get frustrated and change his ways and/or never return to lay another smelly egg of a thread again.

I would just say the grade you got - most schools don't really care about "proof" at this point on only a few grades. Just make sure and be honest about the grades you received, because I would be willing to bet lying is a sure way to get an acceptance revoked.

Aww app buddy, chin up! I guess my secret is the knowledge that my stats aren't going to win many adcoms over, so I'm just hoping for the best and expecting the worst.

That, and I still have yet to hear from a few schools I really like.
 
Hmm so funny thing has been happening. I've been watching Dexter at home with my gf whenever she comes over. But I can't wait for her to come over again to watch the next episode so I've been sneaking episodes behind her back 😳. So basically, I have to pretend that its my first time seeing it. I'm like Blu Ray cheating on her. Am I a terrible boyfriend? :d

:meanie: This is so cute. I've done this with scary movies. I love scary movies and it takes forever for my husband and I to finally sit down and watch one, so I sneak watch them. 😳
