Arrgh, today has not been a good day. I wrongfully got a costly parking ticket and my class got canceled, but I already bought the $200 textbook because class starts in less than a week. Both of those suck extra hard because I am really broke right now. Oh, and I had to explain to my PI why my experiment wasn't working. 🙁

Just had candy therapy, even though I hadn't eaten sweets in a while. Extra fail.
 
Sun: Took a bite before I took the pic, therefore not entirely hipsterr'd.

Beer: It's good. There is a learning curve to liking beer.

Eyes: Apparently I need a pretty strong prescription. Eyes still dilated so not gonna actually read the thread for another few hours.

This is so, so true. For all you beginners out there, IPAs and EPAs are not the place to start. Try a Pilsner or some kind of wheat beer...Leinie's Honeyweiss is good for beginners who think they don't like beer. Belgian whites are good too...pretty smooth, slightly wheaty, kind of sweet, but very flavorful.

When you feel ready to join the big leagues, find a place near you with lots of microbrews on tap (hipster bars near college campuses are usually the place for this) and try a bunch! The bartender will almost always let you sample beers...just remember to give him/her a tip for the trouble.

Good movie! True Grit is another one out now that's absolutely fantastic.

I agree with this, although I must admit that I forced myself to like beer. Bought blue moon (great starter beer for anyone), drank a bunch of that, and then bought my case of Torpedo (And Tumbler, also excellent, not an IPA).



In unrelated news, this was a great TED talk. Skeptical at the first couple minutes, but it was actually really good.

posters are easy. people come to you and ask you "uhh what did you do" and you tell them. then some of them will try to grill you and you just grill them back and its grand.

DArn it Rhesus, I should've come to you when my friend Mr. Flappety McFlapFlap and I went out to the pub on Tuesday night...we were both clueless about which beers to get (we're both not big fans and had no idea what we were doing) and decided to get Inversion IPAs...I'm a fan of IPAs...only because I really like hoppy/fruity flavours...

I guess he and I will go with a Belgian white next time? lol...*sigh* beer fail.

I left for work at 8. I just got home. I'm not good at math, but I think that adds up to "that blows".

At least I was getting paid.

I have to get up in 6 hours. I already hurt.

I'm fairly sure I already work at Hogwarts. Cupcakes and beer appear regularly on the fourth floor, and yesterday I discovered a toilet filled with boiling-hot water in an unused corridor of the seventh floor.


I used the toilet. It was awesome. Any other toilet seat in the building would have been freezing cold.

To culminate my week of spending way too much, I'm finally getting my hair done today. Let me tell you, being blonde is expensive and time-consuming.

Aww, sorry Daisy, that's a pain. But at least you'll have (even more) beautiful luscious blonde hair!
 
Picked out my glasses today. They ended up not really being anything like the Dior frames I posted earlier, but that's because prices didn't work out as anticipated and so I needed to go with something a little cheaper.

Congrats to Cougs again!

Also, show us what you got! 😛 I also sohuld have said this earlier..but Costco has a lot of reasonably priced lenses/designer frames!

I won't get 'em until they get my lenses in, had to order 'em.

Costco was indeed cheap, but I didn't like the frames they had very much. In retrospect, the frames I got were somewhat plain lol. It's a hard decision, I couldn't figure out what I liked since nobody had really quite what I was looking for (at a reasonable price).

I'm going to my friends' party in hipster-central tonight. I must mentally prepare. Maybe I should have bought those non-prescription glasses to try and blend in a smidgen.

Haha, yes you need non-prescription glasses. I remember in high school I discovered my favorite English teacher had them. I felt kind of weird, but not exactly surprised.
