Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My favorite caffeinated thing is a cafe mocha. Peppermint mocha during Christmas time. Mmmmmmmmmm good.

I usually just have a cup or two with some hazelnut flavored creamer and a few packets of Splenda. I've cut back to 12 oz./day and I'm SO friggin' tired.

one of my professor's was the biggest caffeine junkie. 10 cups of coffee in a day was not uncommon for him. he would also end lecture 35 minutes early so he could go get his *first* workout of the day in.

he was freakin' ripped.

Diet Coke is by far my favorite food. I've never drank coffee. The strong smell alone makes me wheezy. I don't like coffee flavored desserts.

So I was drinking my morning coffee this morning and I realized I literally cannot function like a normal human being without it. Does anyone else have a dependence on coffee? If so, how long have you been addicted to the bean? How do you take it? If not, do you do anything else to wake up in the morning? Curious about people's responses in today's icebreaker :d

I am definitely dependent on coffee! Without it on a normal day, I'll definitely get a headache; this has been going on for a few years now, probably since late HS/early university.

On a happier note, I'm on my way into Boston from Montreal and the bus has Wifi! WOOT! A few more hours to go!

Officially rejected from Penn. Shocker! (<~~ Sarcasm)

I'm really pretty meh about it.

I just got that same email too. To be honest, I hadn't even remembered that I wasn't rejected there earlier. Meh indeed.

As to this coffee conversation, I take mine black. But ditto to Hoody on diet coke being delicious. And I do love tea. And the occasional mocha/latte/whatever.

Ok, I guess I like caffeine a little too much...

in conjunction with a frustrating morning and this coffee talk i just made some of the best home brewed coffee i've ever made. caribou coffee, ftw.

there was a study released from those suspicious harvard folks within the past couple of years that demonstrated decreased morbidities/mortality with something like 4+ cups of coffee a day over 20+ years.

http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/press-releases/archives/2004-releases/press01052004.html

that's not the exact article, but you get the idea.

At first glance I thought we were talking about decreased obesity instead of morbidity/mortality. My first thought was "well, duh, I would **** my intestines out if I had 4+ cups of coffee a day."

I had one of my faculty interviewers call today to congratulate me on my acceptance at his school. Very unexpected. I missed the call and he left me his cell # to call him back. I highly doubt the school asked him to do that. I think he is just a really nice guy.

I love coffee. However, I have had to give it up several times b/c my caffeine intake has gotten ridiculous. Until I graduated in december, I was drinking at least 1 triple sized sugar free rockstar a day. Currently, I'm drinking one cup of coffee a day, in the afternoon. Except on Saturday, b/c I have to be at the hospital at 5 am 😱... which means I am up at 4 am.

Needless to say, when 3 pm rolls around, getting my coffee is one of the best parts of the day.

but it stops after a few minutes 😎

EDIT: holy turbo-click!

I LOVE coffee! I'm a Starbucks goldcard member (which means I get free syrups, customization, etc. and yes I realize it's a marketing scheme) I will agree that Starbucks drip coffee is awful and many other coffee shops are way better (and have almond syrup, which is one of my favorites). I go for an americano or a skinny caramel latte (sometimes with extra shots to get through long days of retail). I'm also obsessed with anything coffee related, including ice cream and desserts. 😍

Been asked a few times recently "what are your plans if you don't get into med school this cycle?" Makes me sad. But I do need a plan. And a new (non-retail :xf:) job.

I thought I was the only person who thought this! Their drip coffee usually sucks.

Funny enough, my work brews starbucks coffee in our caffeteria and it is awesome. I'm not sure why that is though.

👍 Also, Alterra and Intelligentsia make me reluctant to leave the Midwest.

There are like 5 Intelligentsias in LA... it's not just a Midwest thing 😉

I'm with ya buddy... but we're not out of the running quite yet.

As crappy as some IHOPs are (dirty, full of drunks, strippers, etc.), the one I go to has my favorite cup of home brew - much better than Starbuck's. I still go to Starbuck's for specialty drinks, though (Christmas gift cards 👍).

i'm ready to get back in school. i've got 3 studies i want to do. all i need is a PI on board to shovel me some resources.

I like IHOP for two reasons, the breakfast food at night is awesome, and they leave the coffee caraff at the table 👍. Also, I need to start going to your stripper infested IHOP 😀.

I like the starbucks expresso drinks too. My gf turned me onto the skinny caramel machiatos mmmmmm.

coffee snobs don't hate me, but mcdonald's iced coffee is the bomb, especially for the price.

I can appreciate a cup of McDonald's coffee. They're incredibly consistent. And yes, hard to beat on price.

Don't worry, I'm with you guys too. Still doing this though. :xf:

Pretty sure you don't want to hook up with the strippers I'm referring to.

IM YOUR BUDDY TOOOOOoooooo!

Eh, give the Hungarians something to be proud of.

I briefly thought about it, but no. Their crushing defeat will serve to console me about all of the terrible Hungary/hungry puns I've endured over the course of my life

No doubt because of all the transplanted Chicagoans. 🙂

Best of luck to everyone who's still waiting. When the good news comes, I'm buying drinks. 👍

Hungary for the taste of justice.

everything you JUST said. Also a goldcard member and my drink of choice is Americano with a shot of caramel. Try that, it's delicious!

OMG I hate bureaucracy.

Actually unrelated but kinda related note: Tax documents are starting to come in.

👍 My tax $hit be done, yo. And bureaucracy is largely unavoidable, sadly.

I had all my tax stuff done a couple weeks ago, but I've been too lazy to print it out and mail it in... something of a paradox really.

My uncle's a CPA and he does our taxes. Woot! He also e-files them.

Maub, Chicklet just got so excited at seeing "Tato head" in your avatar. Ha!

LOL, too cute!

I need to e-file, but we are snowed/snowplowed in. This is the first time I've liked snow all year, snow day!
