Just had my first official taste of Zumba (not counting all of the fitness conferences where I watched from the back of the room). I looked like a f-ing idiot.

My roommate and I did p90x last year, and one night he was gone and was not supposed to come back. It happened to be yoga night and pants can be restricting, so I decided to do yoga in nothing but my boxers. While in the midst of "happy baby" he walks in with a new girlfriend... awesome.

When I was growing up, I wanted to go on Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?. I'd totally rock the place-the-country challenge.

Well, I would have when I was younger.

I've also found myself using "yes, but you were only able to carry 100 pounds back to your wagon" as a non-sequitur in conversations where I want to contradict what was said but can't back it up.

So, just when I thought this crazy week was over....the baby I was waiting for decided to be born 😀 It has been a good week. I am finally turning my phone off. So happy.

I need an SDN filter that blocks all posts about race and religion. Also, if the content of the post is just "waahh I got a 37 when really I wanted a 42" I want it blocked too.

Yeah, that smiley is really bad... they close threads for someone joking about killing himself but feature a suicide smiley? (Not that I'm saying they shouldn't close threads like that; I just don't think suicide is something that should be joked about at all.)

Yeah, I followed that religion thread for a while, but then I just decided to avoid it altogether. Yowza.
 
Yeah, so that smiley. Not really smiling. But yeah, that religion thread...as with many things in life, there are probably a billion more productive things to do than get into a discussion about religion vs. science on the Internet.

If anyone's looking for a book during this interminable wait to med school, I've been reading "Something for the Pain: Compassion and Burnout in the ER." Really good read so far. A lot of food for thought for anyone considering emergency medicine.

It can be really tough coming from a family with accomplished parents. You just have to know that you do not need to compare yourself to them. You do NOT need to grow up in their shadow.

Edit: Also... I'm a dude, which explains the "Son of" part of my name. Now I'm gonna cry and try to reassure myself of the little manhood I cling to.
 
Sigh. Have to present at journal club on Monday. Only starting to make my powerpoint now. To be honest though, I actually really enjoy giving presentations and teaching. These past two weeks have just been brutal regarding how much time I've spent in the lab and I feel burnt-out at the moment, which is not helping me make this presentation at all.

Also, damn you SDN for distracting me! Hi, my name is Kaushik and I'm an SDN addict. 😳

Because me and my HS friends are super cool, we assigned each other LOTR characters.

While others got cool ones like Aragorn and Gandalf.... they decided the best character fit for me was a down-syndrome child who acted like a bitch before the battle of helm's deep (for the 10 seconds he was in the film).
