I got an offer to join PBK today. I know it is supposedly the only honor society worth joining, but I'm not to into spending $70 to join. Anybody think it is worth it?

I did, you should too! It's not really "worth" the 75 bucks, but you can at least join it so you can say you're a part of it. At our school, there's a graduate stool scholarship you can apply for!

I agree that it can't be a dictatorship, but their is definitely a hierarchy. I would compare it to a ranking system, kind of like what you find in tournaments. Some of us are #1 seeds, and others are just wildcards. And while we may pair up for a match, one is clearly expected to out perform the other.

Welp, that was a fun day. Had the best tacos of my life and got most of my backpacking gear today and spent way too much money. Good times 👍👍

I'd like to come a bit earlier, but I think I'll be moving in the last week in July. (Bf and I both want/need to work for as long as possible. Boo.)

But I think we found a place to rent in Center City! It's a brand new building, everything's sparkly and shiny and new, and we might not even have to fly out to sign the lease, which would save another couple hundred bucks each!. Yay!

I'm waiting for some waitlist movement too. I think I'll wait until at least the 17th to contact the dean and ask about my chances, since the 15th is on a Sunday and many of the withdrawals/new offers will take up the day of the 16th : / Argh. Hey guys, just had a great idea for a massive thread that would be a HUGE help to new SDNers and also cut down on even more crappy pre-allo posts. I need help compiling it all together and I was hoping some of you could help me.

I need some people who can help me compile all the best threads on SDN that helped you in the medical school process. I know of a bunch, particularly with the application process and MCAT prep, but I could use some more help...

The thread is going to be titled: A Guide on How to Use SDN to get into Medical School. I got the idea the other day as I was talking to a few people who were also applying to medical school who seemed utterly clueless to the admissions process who didn't know how to use SDN effectively.

I'm going to break down how SDN can be used to help you starting from someone who knows ZERO about the medical school process. Gonna use myself as an example along the way and show how I used SDN to get accepted. If you are on board with it and want to help, hit me up on gchat or pm me!

Great idea raffle, although the whole "cut down on crappy pre-allo posts" might be overestimating the common sense of many SDN users... Here's a thread I bookmarked during my interviews which was pretty awesome:

1) Ooops, but I'm too lazy to fix it. I guess it's because I say medical stool all the time when I try to say medical school...

2) I think you're doing the right thing, IMO.

3) Yay for new running shoes! Time to beat the **** out of the pavement, and not your body!


Also, I went to an awesome party last night hosted by my club's board members, and I met this great guy who reallly really seemed gay/into me...like I left the party to drive my friend back to her place and I said I'd be coming back, and he offered to "keep me company"--and he had no idea who I was since we had just met. He also just sounded/acted totally like it, and my friend and her good gaydar texted me afterward just to tell me "he is totally a MO..or in the closet!"....at the end of the night, I found out he had a girlfriend.

SAD PANDA/Story of my life.

edit: a mere 4 hours after bin Laden's death was announced, a NYC man had a website up and running selling T-shirts that celebrated the announcement. He made 120k in the first 48 hours. And a hotel in Ohio had their flag accidentally get stuck at half-mast that day, and they got dozens of threats. hahaha

We're still banking that he could totally be in the closet...we spent a lot of the evening together and he was kinda touchy/feely...or rather, I was and he didn't seem to mind. 😛
