Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
To be honest, it really isn't that bad. I actually love learning the material - it's my first exposure to material that I'm interested in. It's just very overwhelming. The transition isn't very... subtle. We hit the ground running.

...oh, that and I didn't study at all this weekend due to a friend's wedding, which isn't so conducive to doing well on a test today.

Could work. Me, I think I'd still benefit from just being present even if my primitive brain wouldn't be able to keep up.

I thought that too so that's what I had been doing, but that isn't how it turned out, at least for me

Yeah in undergrad studying was mindnumbing but I'm eating this stuff up. So I'm actually enjoying studying so many hours each day. I'm glad med school turned out to be such a good fit for me. I honestly feel really badly for anyone who took out loans for M1 tuition and then hates being a med student

Gotta love pass fail for that exact reason 😀

This is actually somewhat reassuring. Not that I'm totally freaking out or anything, but all this idle time can cause one to lose perspective. If I didn't think I would love what I'm going to be studying and what I'm going to be doing, I wouldn't have left my old life behind...but there are always doubts and fears, you know. One week to orientation...

Also, this is for Cougs:

A friend of mine who got into McGill med this year tagged me in one of his photos.

Medicine year #1, class #1, slide #1, unit #1 course objectives:

Well at least the French are honest! Hahaha, I'm in Montreal right now.... and I miss it here. I'd really like to go here. Seriously.

But WTF McGill... horrible powerpoint color combo. 🙁

Leather seats? What is this French pinko nonsense?

Maubs😍

I am now desperate to watch that movie.

It's such a damned good movie.

"You see this? Right now, I'm washing lettuce. Soon I'll be on fries! Then the grill. A year or two, I make assistant manager. And that's when the big bucks start rolling in!"

Today I am 35/35, meaning I am 35 weeks pregnant and there are 35 days til my due date. There's no way I'll still be pregnant in 42 days. Um... *gulp*

Congratulations! (...is that the sort of thing you congratulate for?)

In other news, I failed the practical portion (which is graded separately from the written) of our first exam. Whoops. Lesson learned: do not take weekends off from studying.

Well, I blame it on the fact that I didn't study for essentially the entirety of the weekend. I had to "cram" on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights and Wednesday morning. That works fine for the writing portion but not for practicals... that happens with lots and lots of time with the bodies.

Then again, about a quarter of the class failed the practical portion, so it's not just me.

Whaaaatt? Practical for us was amazing. Lecture exam was tough. My cramming did not work for that at all. But I pulled it off for the practical.

There's a thread in the nontrad forum titled "At what age does med school become unfeasible" and I can't help but think "Me fail English? That's unpossible."

Oh, Ralph.

One of my lecturers reads the PowerPoint to us.

I'm pretty sure I fell asleep in the front row for like 20 minutes.

it dies a fiery and painful death in my dreams each night

jk but seriously that thread should not be allowed to exist 🙄👎

Our rule is that they're allowed so long as the applicants would be in undergrad. I think it's kind of ridiculous at this point, too, but
