its pretty awful, and think you get to repeat it again 4 years after med school, then several years again after residency.....then again after that............:laugh:

I'm trying to look at it like an adventure. I get to go to cities I haven't been to before. I get to meet new people and hope that we jibe well. Get to make new friends when I find somewhere. =)

its really just another year of your lives, you are gonna look at it the way your personality allows you to look at things in general.
 
It'll be interesting. It's probably going to be how my sister describes field training, assuming the season goes decent, (she's training to be a military officer) is "It's the most fun you'll never want to have again"

A very brisk kind of cold. Kinda windy, though not as bad as it's been.

It's about 60-70 degrees outside here in sunny florida....a breezy day would be nice

I just came back from Miami last week. 🙁 I was a little bit disappointed that it was cloudy and windy. I love sunny days! 😀

I did consider it for a while, mainly right after getting my September scores back. But I haven't prepared AT ALL. So I'm pushing it till March/beginning of April. I can't risk it, especially since it'll be my second time around. 🙂 Just need to reach that magic 30, or hopefully a point or two above that!

What about you IVercetti? How's the prep going? Only a few more days now for you...:luck: You're probably in the 😱 state right now!

lol yea you're right, I'm in the 😱 stage right now. Good luck on the retake in the spring, the Jan 30 mcat thread is so epic though, 1400+ posts; 37000+ views.. I pretty much consider that the class of 2015 thread #2
 
random question....

What is test prep week? I feel it should be self-explanatory, but I'm secretly hoping that it involves jeopardy and wheel-of-fortune flash games over BS and PS.
 
Well if I plan on entering an MD/PhD program, would I still be considered class of 2015? No idea...lol

don't be in 😱 state. as part of my preparation for MCAT (and life really lol) I did a stress reduction clinic. I was soooooo chill when I took my test...clicked those answers with steely determination.
You'll do great though 🙂 :luck:

That reminds me of last semester my schools honors program offered a stress relief/meditation class for finals. It's really relaxing 🙂 Yea, I'm in that 😱 state as well. I guess it just seems weird to talk about all of this months ago and for it to actually be time to take it.
 
I went into the testing center knowing I was well prepared and that I work better under stress. I don't believe you can really get rid of stress in a stressful situation, it's all about tuning your responses to feed off of it =)

So that's my advice for the mcat... be confident. It sounds cliche, but it's so true.
 
I finally found this thread on page 3. . . I haven't been keeping up because I went on a vacation the past 2 weeks. Tomorrow I start classes again, winter break on the quarter system is too short! Tomorrow is my first day of classes and 1 of my teachers has already assigned a written assignment we have to turn in at the begining of our lab at 8am. What a d-bag! I hope no one else has a cruel teacher like that. Thanks for letting me vent.
 
bummer, oh well atleast u got a nice 2 week vacation.

Until you get your baller MCAT score and get the urge to bring it up in random conversation for about a week out of the joy of succeeding after trying to hard! Think positive! =)

Tomorrow?! Wow, we don't get started until two weeks from now.

Also, that prof is a d-bag. Most of my professors at least wait until two days after class starts to bring on the pain. Good luck!
 
as I was chasing down a bus with my friends in order to avoid paying for a cab to the bars I forgot I had my glasses in my sweater pocket...and somewhere along the way they fell out and i didnt notice. Managed to find a friend at the bar to drive me back so I can look for them...but...they were gone (and they were expensive brand new ones!) 🙁

I went back to the bar figured i;d get drunk and forget about it, but my ****ty mood didnt go away. 🙁🙁
and now im completely sober thinking ****..
but i just realized, i didnt even like those glasses!! hurray for new perspective!! 😀

Thanks. Yeah the quarter systems breaks between quarters sucks, but we get a little longer in the summer. I guess it's ok. Yesterday was funny because most of my class mates were like "What? We had homework before class started?" Even our TA wasn't sure what to collect. I'm glad I had this jerk before and remembered he assigned work before the first day last time I took him (for a different class btw).

Now I'm studying a 40 page lab safety guide for our safety exam tomorrow. If we get below an 85% we get kicked out of the class. Which would be very lame.

To everyone on break enjoy it while it lasts. I didn't think about school once over mine (besides getting LOR) and it was awesome!

Kicked out of class? Wow - at least it's just safety, which shouldn't be too bad?

I am very much enjoying my break - I was supposed to shadow more but I really can't bring myself to go to the hospital at 7 am when I can sleep in. Something tells me I'm going to regret that a little bit when I'm shadowing over my spring break and before I turn in my apps...

I shadowed 3 days over winter break and when I scheduled the time I did 2 days at 10 am and 1 day at 11 am. It worked out nicely. If you can schedule it for later than 7 am you should, they won't think anything of it. Personally I don't think there is anything you will see in a full day that you won't see in a half day (unless there is an awesome rarely performed sugery/procedure scheduled early in the morning). I've shadowed two separate doctors (ortho & pain management) and it was awesome, but they primarily saw similar patients all day.

You called it. It turned out a passing score the first time is 75% and if we failed we got a second chance but need an 85% to pass, then if we fail the second time we get kicked out. I took it this morning and I'm pretty sure I passed. I will feel pretty slow if I didn't. A 40 page study guide for a safety exam is ridiculous though!
