Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
nah never seen it, i didn't even know PBS was still around these days LOL

Well, not trying to invade the Lebron bashing (give the guy a break), but i highly recommend it. In an age where media sucks a big one this show seems to be one of the best newsish shows out there (consider it a dignified version of dateline. That'll do pig.

haha i'm watching "undateable" on VH1... its hilarious.

damn i take that back about after the nba season....at least there still the world cup for a few weeks after the finals

eh lebron sucking talks lol

that How guy has gone missing again...

congrats! how does it feel?

Kind of weird, since tomorrow is my last full day of living in Baton Rouge forever. I've disliked this place for a while, but now that I'm leaving I guess it just feels weird to be going one place and staying there for a while.

Journey is better than destination/ending as far as my undergrad was concerned.

what made you choose LSU-NO over VCU? just curious... you dont have to answer if you'd rather not.

Money and location, mostly money. I really really wanted to leave Louisiana, but Richmond wasn't quite my style. I liked New Orleans better and when you combine that with a $30k per year difference, it ended up being LSU.

VCU is a great school, though, and I liked it a good bit more than LSU.

congrats man...consider yourself lucky to have choices...well deserved of course

i know, crap.

lmaooo yeah but after your VCU acceptance, she was beggin for some lovin from a DOCTORRRRR

im waiting on my score which comes out June 1st, which is like the day to apply so i guess im figuring out
1. apply this year and retake in june if its bad
2. apply this year and figure out all my schools in 24 hours lol
3. wait a year if its bad

hoping for 2

haha that's funny.

yeah. the mcat studying in the winter changed me, and not for the better. i finally snapped out of it and i'm back to myself.

i just need to find schools that are good with OOSers and i'm going to be realistic. if i dont get a 35 or higher i doubt i will apply to any of the top schools

Apply to 3 or so reaches. You have to. I kind of wish I would have applied to more reaches, even though my schools were 50% reaches.

damn thats amazing. yeah if i could just have my score so i know what to do

if my score is subpar do you think i should retake in july and still apply, or take a year off?

If you can think of something good to do during the year, I would take the year off. Everybody I talk to loves their gap year, plus you could have more time and less pressure to retake the MCAT. There's no guarantee you would score significantly better, and then you would be applying late. Applying early is like 50% of doing well and gathering up invites. Don't let anybody tell you that July isn't late - they're lying.

yeah i know but its not thatt late, i know people with eh scores who got in taking late july tests, so its all good

this whole damn process is just so annoying....i have to drive to 2 different schools tomorrow to get transcripts and 2 different hospitals for LORs and then be at school by 2PM

what about applying and then updating with a new score?

fax the schools your transcript requests and have them mail it for you?

dude, seriously, july isn't late. i think sdn is too obsessed with applying on the first day. i've checked a boatload of mdapps profiles, there are only very few schools that makes a difference between july vs. june, like vermont for example.

That would be better, but you still might miss on some early interview spots for schools that will pass you over the first time.

That sucks.

It really is amazing what kind of random/awesome interviews you can get by applying early. Hopefully you shouldn't have to worry about retaking, since you should get a good score. :xf:

Well, what I'm saying is that you can miss out on interview invites from rolling schools if your stats are mediocre or average for that school. I know that I wouldn't have gotten 4 invites with my average stats if I didn't apply early.

BTW, I'm the kind of person that would apply on the first day even if I didn't know SDN existed. FWIW, I didn't submit until 8pm that night because I was at work the whole day.

it only takes one.

msb, good point but they want my credit card info, and doing it online on their website they want an extra 10$ processing, so i might as well drive cuz there is some bomb sushi by the school loll and save the 10$...not to mention i dont trust these community colleges with my future; leave it up to them and theyll mail out my transcripts in 2011

Hopefully.

I learned not to rely on stats when it comes to interviews. They fricked me over big time.

I also think that "one" depends on your state. For me, my "one" would give me a much better shot than a Californian's "one" if we're both talking about state schools.

Where are you applying msb? Or have you not received MCAT scores yet?

How is July is even remotely late in the app cycle. Especially this year - There was only 1 June MCAT date this year, and maybe 3-4 May dates. I believe there are about 7-10 in July and August this year. Seems like AAMC is trying to bottleneck the number of applicants, so applying a little late won't do much damage with the way it is set up this year.

im going strictly DO because of one terrible semester that KILLS my MD sGPA. and i got my scores back and they were not up to par... way below my practice test average, but i had a panic attack during the PS/VR because i was already hyped up and then the coffee kicked in. terrible experience. so i'm retaking in july because i know i'll do better.

haha well AACOMAS only accepts transcripts directly from the schools so i had no choice anyway. but all 4 of my transcripts have been received so thats one monkey off my back.

That sounds horrible. I had somewhat of an anxiety thing my test day, but it was after the MCAT thankfully.

I did have the best breakfast ever, though - bacon, donuts and chocolate milk.

i like your theory

i am a man of theory myself lol but i wont list any, not until i get my mcat score

If you apply really early and write good essays you never know what could happen.
I am 95% sure I am going to apply this cycle and then I read things like this...and totally change my mind. Im not going to lie, I dream of some really cool schools. and while I would really go anywhere, I still like to think that Im going to be this pretigious neurosurgeon one day. In reality, Im pretty much subpar in every category. Its hard to wait another cycle....I was dying during your guys's cycle...the highs, the lows, the waiting (come on, Ive read every page in that thread...). I just wanna try already

this. hopefully my med school app piggy bank will allow me to have as many chances as possible. :xf:

haha.

it's all good. i'm applying early, regardless. if i can get a couple interviews i'll be feeling pretty, pretty good (larry david voice). i have an upward trend that should save my ass at DO schools... first 5 semesters of college i was at about a 3.0, last 4 i was at a 3.7 for those semesters.
