😆 You're probably right. Regardless... eyeball surgery, gag me. It won't happen.
sounds like a good gigHaha, i'm not real savvy on opthamology but I think if you're doing eye surgery and the humor spills out then you did it wrong 🙂
I bet 50% of opthamology is saying "look at the light" and "you have pretty eyes, is that a wedding ring?" haha j/k
i know. none of the ROADs really appeal to me at this point.Well, it IS a ROAD.
It could be...i think ENT should be considered as a ROAD too. i could see myself doing that, perhaps.
if it makes babies better then i'm all for it
Only one that mildly interests me is Anesthesiology, but eh. Sometimes they call it ROADE and throw EM in there. EM kinda interests me, too.
But honestly, I'm like 95% sure I'll wind up in Ob/Gyn or Peds-Neonatology.
trauma freaks me out. I couldn't do EM. omg.Only one that mildly interests me is Anesthesiology, but eh. Sometimes they call it ROADE and throw EM in there. EM kinda interests me, too.
I think you'd be the most mentally stimulated with the later and for me thats a plus. you'd be like the me of the baby world...critical care/intensivist of the nicu. for reals. 👍Ob/Gyn or Peds-Neonatology.
I've got to limit myself on SDN to staying in this thread... to many people out "there" are stressing on lame stuff. I'm glad everyone here keeps their game tight and doesn't stress on the small stuff 🙂

Seriously, it's not all you do, but my understanding is that is a bread and butter kind of procedure for ENTs, especially ones that do Peds ENT. It went on my list (but still way down) after I saw how quickly, and in how many way (walking, sleeping and talking) Chicklet felt better after her tubes.
I work with the largest medical group consisting entirely of a single specialty, anesthsiolgists. They are some of the happiest docs in the hospital. I really like the OR and anesthesia is kind of appealing. I'm pretty sure I'll go into a surgical specialty... Hopefully ortho. EM is interesting to me as well (both anesthesia and em have a fair amount of procedural work). Anesthesia-pain management would be rewarding work as well. Relieving someones chronic pain is HUGE.
Luckily I'd be happy in most specialties as long as I get patient contact (ie not radiology)
Agreed. My MIL has chronic pain issues from a car accident injury from more than 20 years ago.I work with the largest medical group consisting entirely of a single specialty, anesthsiolgists. Wicked high malpractice for that specialty.you can do pain management as an ortho too, especially if you're a spine specialist.
What's a cookie? (Edit: OH! The icon for your post title).thats a cookie by the way.

sports med would be my biggest interest as an ortho. joint replacement is really cool to watch, so it's probably even more fun to perfom. we'll have a bangin' practice.
👍 good planthat's for sure. we should try to get him to teach us and put his name on our practice to get us off and running.
Ortho is pretty much the only surgical specialty that appeals to me. Sometimes it grosses me out, other times it totally fascinates me.
Either one of you Jewish? Someone's gotta take Christmas and Easter so I can spend them with the fam squad.
Glad to hear it! My advisor is taking his sweet-ass time. The composite letter is done. You have an Interfolio account, just upload it already!
Pregnant ladies gross you out? Or vomiting pregnant ladies?
What the hell is wrong with pregnant ladies?
1. Yes. It's stupid. They're going to verify it anyway and possibly change it but we still have to do it first.
2. Verifying the grades that we input.
3. Long enough to thorougly describe the experience, but skip the flowerly dialogue and BS. The advice most often give on SDN is to be succinct and use bullet points.
4. Like others said, you can upload letters later.
that's a bit gun-ho even for a doulaHahah, nononoNO.
And one more time...NO🙂
All fluids from pregnant ladies are welcome. I'm a doula.
I meant that I HATE vomit, UNLESS you are a pregnant lady.

Sorry not I, but I'm willing to alternate each year with you 🙂 ... but then again surgeons usually don't schedule surgeries on major holidays so we'd only have to work if it was something urgent 👍
Edit: it would be more likely a general surgeon had to come in for a lap appy or lap chole than an orthopod
Hahah, nononoNO.

I like the idea of keeping a rookie around to be our holiday guy... I'll keep an eye out for a candidate from the 2016 thread haha.we'd figure it out. we'll keep a rookie around for that reason.
i'm only working christmas day if i'm the lakers team doc.
i knew what you meant. vomit FTL.

If I do end up working christmas for both of you I expect an awesome gift that year... we're talking new home theater awesome 👍
Yeah, that was one of those "crap, I just hit enter and the term 'welcome' sounds uber-creepy" moments😉
I just got home from a birth and I actually was relieved there was no vomit. There was plenty of other ickiness that I don't normally see.
afraid of zombies?oh, and i'll see patients but i am not operating the day after halloween.
