They were awesome 3 weeks ago... now not so much haha. I really like immunology but the other two, I'm kinda over them.

I'm taking aids, science & society (1 of 2 classes I need to graduate)
Statistics (taking at a cc)
American Lit 1 (taking at a cc)
Poli-Sci class (I'm taking this and the aids course at a university, and I need it to be full time for financial aid--otherwise I have to pay 1K out of pocket).

what are you taking right now?

Yay, poli sci! That was my major, and I think you go where I went🙂

Totally feel you on the credits for full time and such; that bites.


On another note...my upstairs neighbors just came home NOISILY, making my dog bark, and now they are blasting their TV with the subwoofer.

Two Sundays ago the cops knocked on MY door at this time for the same behavior by them, thinking it was me. If they come again and wake me up I will chokeabitch.

calculus ewww. That isn't fun.

That will be my first poli-sci class... it is american political parties.

What really sucks is that OUR school is feeling the state budget cuts so my schedule has worked out that I need to go back in the fall for 1 class to graduate... but I will need 2 more on top of that to get my financial aid ---> sucks.

don't people know they need to keep the noise down in the OC?

That DOES suck....I was checking out the summer school classes and there were classes with 158 people on the waitlist!!! That's insane!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, especially since I own the damn building and I am their landlord!!!🙂

Yeah, the last class I need to graduate is one of those classes. I've been trying to get into it for 2 years and I'm waitlisted for the fall... couldn't get it in the summer which really bugs me.

It sounds like you need to rent to old people haha

And yeah, I should! They are alright though; at least they pay on time. The last people (4 years ago) were CRAZY. I live in a super sleepy rich beach community, and the cops were here all the time because of their kids, I think they were dealing drugs, and they had a cat that died and they left it in a plastic bag on my driveway. So horrible. Neighbors were complaining to me for months. I had to kick them out and it took forever.
 
i'm amused and aggravated at the same time by an argument i'm having in the mcat forum.
 
Calling all my schools' registrars right now to check on my transcripts.

Alma mater - Will be mailed tomorrow, maybe today. So they should get those by the end of the week.

One place where I took a chunk of my pre-reqs - Mailed on June 3rd, so those should show up either today or tomorrow, hopefully.

On hold with the CC where I took a class last year right now.

Still haven't called my original undergrad college that gave me 2 1/2 months of grief over the transcript for me. Saving that one for last since I imagine it will raise my blood pressure significantly.

I might submit my apps today. I'm terrified I'm going to somehow miss a glaring error or leave out something key. Blech!
 
Update!

The CC mailed them out on June 2nd, so those should definitely show up to ACMAS and AACOMAS today or tomorrow.

And here's a big friggin' shocker.

The problem school apparently never received my requests. Do I know why? No. I asked for a confirmation of receipt e-mail on the form that I snail mailed and never got it, so I'm not entirely surprised (also due in part to the fact that it took 2 1/2 months to get a transcript sent to myself). So tomorrow morning when I get to work first thing I'm doing is faxing them copies of the stuff then calling them 15 minutes later to confirm receipt.

I'd like to pull my hair out.

Can I just say that I find it hilarious that the more prestigious and well-regarded the school is, the longer it's taken them to send my transcripts out. I'm sure it's partly due to the size of the school, but the place that mailed it out on the 3rd is huge compared to my alma mater, and I believe bigger than the problem school as well.

Glad I waited to call them last.

I thought I was "verified" but my application says "Processing is Complete"....is this the same thing? Where should I see how they calculated my GPA?

I would look outside of this thread for the answers...but I'm scared🙂

Yea, it is the same thing. If you print your application, you should see the GPA calculation and everything else that does not show clearly online.

You actually don't even have to print it, just hit the print application button and open (I used adobe so it opened as a pdf) and it has all your info.

That had never occurred to me because I am in a math computer lab right now and can only print math labs; never even thought to look at the print view until I got home🙂 But I sure will check now.


Having this thing verified makes me feel sooooo good.

Isn't it crazy that people who submitted 10 or 12 hours before I did were verified by the next day? That is like, for every 2 hours you delayed, you increased your wait time by 2 days. Nuts.

AMCAS dropped my GPA from what I calculated...blah🙁 Two classes that I have A's in did not show up.....it sounds like when the transcript updates hit I then have to file an academic change thingy. So lame.

When strangers (like on a plane or something) do the same I generally am pleased to have the convo. Somehow when the fringe friend-ish-sorta people do it, it annoys the crap out of me.

We got the first test back today, I got an A! And she drops one of the three tests, then there is a final. So....the way I figure it....I am 1/3 of the way there😉

Also...learned the name of the cute guy who sits next to me.

Today has been a great day. It needs to never end.
 
Okay, this is hopefully the last time I'll ask a stupid question about ACMAS. I can't attach letters to schools until they're uploaded into AMCAS right? That sounds so stupid to type.

I'm pretty sure I'm ready to submit, but I'm still waiting for my damn advisor to upload my composite letter and I have another LoR but I wanted to request them from Interfolio at the same time so I only have to pay once.

Right. Once they're uploaded, when you go to the schools section and click the edit button, it allows you to select letters for each school individually. It took me a long time to figure it out, because it's definitely not intuitive.
 
so whats the differrence between selecting the "individual letters" or "packet" option?

im going to have my school send my letters to amcas soon
 
I think a packet is a group of letters your advisor or the pre-med committee at your school put together for you. That's what I'm getting from my alma mater.

Individual letters would be if you have them separately, I suppose.

You can attach letters to schools before they arrive... I suggest you do so since it will take a couple hours to review each schools requirements. You will have to create a request form on amcas before you send your letters from interfolio. Once you do this it will let you assign the letters 🙂.

this is correct... if you have a packet your school put together then you select packet. If you did what I did, and requested letters from each professor then you select individual letter.
 
so sleepy from an early wake up call to shadow. i dont think family med is in my top 3 any more after all. it had been about a year since i did family med stuff, and i was bored to tears today.
 
I've got a packet with 1 humanties, 1 bio, 1 physics and 1 chem professor's letter. That meets the requirements for pretty much every school. Then I have another professor's letter I will probably send for good measure, also chemistry.

You packet people are lucky... I had to kiss major butt and run around for a couple months to get 5 individual letters 😡

Most schools have different requirements for packet vs. individual letters... so I'm not familiar with the packet requirements... however 2 schools I applied to (iowa & vermont) put a maximum at 4 letters... you should double check the philly schools and make sure if you send the extra letter you don't piss them off 😛.

i pinched a nerve in my back. i have pain all the way down my arm from my back to the tip of my middle finger. google tells me it's probably at C7. it hurts so bad 🙁

I once had a guy in his 50s or 60s tell me about literally every major relationship he had ever had. 3 Divorces in 2 hours. The things people feel comfortable telling strangers.

Yeah, I'm not sure I could do family med. Although people do say that it's a lot better when you're actually doing it, as opposed to shadowing.

Personally, I think I might just be a specialist waiting to happen.
