Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
the thing about this one is it just says "statement of purpose". i ended up taking some previous secondary responses and combining/condensing and adding a little to make it school specific.

:scared: summer school starts tomorrow for me. only four weeks, but I'm not in school mode. oh goodness.

i found genetics to be pretty maddening actually, but hopefully your class is good

haha exactly what I want to hear right before I start 😉 Since it's short hopefully I can just power through it.

just make sure to put in the work because it's kind of like the orgo of bio.. new paradigm

genetics. so it should actually be fun. I hope.

If it makes you feel better, my genetics class was pretty alright. I hear bad things about the class at other schools, though.

Man you guys are making me feel like a slacker with all this summer school.

duckgirl, your frozen yogurt popped up in my newsfeed. how much do you love sweets?

... I actually thought genetics was pretty easy. I think molecular biology or metabolic biochemistry is much harder.

Good use of the word paradigm.. we had to go through and define/discuss that word in the online class I'm taking right now.

I really enjoyed the subject of genetics, it was only the teacher that made it a little bit of a bad experience.

modernity in the sense of philosophical "moderns" or like in the colloquial sense of "now"?

modernity in the sense of philosophical "moderns" or like in the colloquial sense of "now"?
The latter, I believe. Although it could well refer to the concept of modern philosophy, as we are discussing paradigms and paradigm shifts, so the paradigm of modern thought could be the focus. It's very open ended. TBH not my sort of class but I enjoy these classes because I get stuck in the engineering rut too often and it's good to think openly and philosophically for a little while.

it builds character. i'm glad i was forced to take of bunch of those classes or else i would have ended up quite dull
They make us take very few. One of my LOR's came from one of these classes tho, which was cool. I think the biggest thing I learned over the last year was to really talk to professors. They're usually interesting people with vast amounts of knowledge in both their field and their hobbies.

word. i like talking to profs; i never leave a convo without having learned a thing or two

I'm a bit disappointed you guys didn't hit 17,000 while I was gone.
sorry to disappoint, busy weekend for me.

It's essentially "modern history" (16th to 20th centuries). By the end we'll be discussing the concept of modernity and how it came to be. Have to write my second paper tomorrow and maybe a discussion post tonight.
I love how even before you are clear what the class is about, you are writing a second paper🙂

Bleargh, where do you board? If you (or anyone else) goes up to Tahoe or the CO Rockies, hit me up, I'm down.
ice coast, baby. my buddy's well-to-do parents own a condo in aspen. it's amazing.

Hahahaha. It looked like he may drop by my birthday celebration for a bit but it didn't happen, so I am thinking nothing is going to happen🙂

Edit: Also, bleargh, major congrats on the interview!!! Dude!!

aw shucks again. i'll make sure to ask them why they would interview a lion yet not a cougar. i'll wear my stern face.

A whole lot. Probably an embarrassing amount. I take my topping to frozen yogurt/ice cream very seriously 🙂
passion is important.

i had a great froyo about a week or two ago. white chocolalte mousse with reese's, cherries, and m&m's. yes, i was having a fat kid day. it was the day before my MCAT actually. you know, carb loading for the big day.

Nice! We don't have a condo in aspen, but my family lives an hour away from aspen and I live an hour away from tahoe, so win-win.

Steamboat, A-Basin, and Aspen are CO's best. Utah's got plush snow....but prone to avalanches. :scared:

UT is too far away for now but I'd def hit it on a vacation some time. Went through park city recently and that place is really cool. If I die in an avalanche or in a car crash >100MPH, I die happy, so it's all good.

Ladies of 2015... Why does it always work that you drop a girl off your planet for a few months and she's super into you when you let her back in? Hahaha... and it works best when it's not entirely intentional. Jeezzzz

Not entirely sure what you mean. And it doesn't happen to all guys, I'm sure. 😉

But I can say that a little disinterest goes a long way.

Maybe not all guys, but works for me and my friends pretty often. Just drop contact for a few weeks (or longer) and then say hi a while later and buying temp skyrockets. I hate how these things work lol. Makes me feel (unintentionally) conniving =P

But yeah, the bold hits the nail on the head.
