This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Sweet! 😀 Let's do it. I don't really gamble, but I like to watch other people gamble and get free drinks on the floor. 👍

I payed for a years worth of rent thanks to 13 consecutive hours of blackjack...

turned $500, into $10,000, payed rent for a year.

I was up 4500.... I was like... honestly I'm just gonna go big... so I bet it all... Ace, King for the win. Happiest day of life.

Wow! I never spend more than $20 when I gamble. I always end up losing it anyways.

I always wanted to play blackjack, but I was always too chicken.

Mutliquote!

They don't allow scores about a 45, just FYI.
Well, then my 56V is going to be really unique then 😀

Good, I'll need someone who's not gambling to look after me and make sure I don't lose my monies. And also help me get into clubs without having to pay.

I'm sure you murdered that beast!!!!
I felt certain about some questions on mine. Bad about others. It ended up working out for me. 🙂

I hope so, I had a dream I had to take the test again, it was so real that I woke up drenched in sweat. I really don't want to go through the hell that was MCAT studying all over again.

This song is going to power me through the night.

I need the self-esteem boost.

I have secrets... BWSTW... I will buy you that lotto ticket. I actually bought one today. A $5 dollar scratch off... only won 20 bucks. Net gain of 15.

Some might say I have a horseshoe stuck up my rear, I'd just like to think I know how to challenge the odds.

And I can teach you how to play great blackjack in an hour, over wine!

Screw blackjack, Roulette and craps are where its at. Great social games too, plus the payouts can be pretty big. And you don't have to spend 13 consecutive hours at the tables either

I don't wish this on anybody!

I rather like blackjack... it's calculated risk. Roulette... not so much.

Its thrilling, go big or go home I always say. And there's a system to roulette as well just not as sophisticated as the ones out there for blackjack

Ditto on the MCAT re-take. My re-take was not all that bad, because I actually studied properly the second time around. And I actually learned stuff, THANKS TBR!!!! 😍

However, I personally think that far too much emphasis is placed on the MCAT. It's actually a horrible test. It served it's purpose when enrollment was high, and attrition was even higher for medical school.

For cereal though... the MCAT is just another hoop. The MCAT my brother wrote the get into medical school in the 90's PALES in comparison to the one I wrote. Their MCAT was much easier by and large.

Nice gain.

That sounds like a lot of fun!

I wish I used TBR. I also wish I took pre-reqs.

Freaking POS Kaplan books.

I here there was a point in time where the Verbal and Written sections never existed.

TBR and EK helped me alot. I still suck at physics though. 🙁

Kaplan... Gross.

Although, I hear their Qbank is great for USMLE step 1.
Now... USMLE Step 1... thats actually something I won't mind studying for. I hear it's most like the Bio Sci on the MCAT. And I loved studying for bio sci, hated PS. Grrr.

I've heard the same thing about Kaplan Step 1. PS sucked to study for! It was my low score too.

I used kaplan books. Kinda. Just for a refresher for Gen chem. When i took the mcat it had been 3-4 years since gen chem... I just reread my physio book mostly and went over stuff from physics i never do like atomic stuff.

One secondary down. Take that creighton!

😍 You suck at physics? Just as I do??? I got an 8 the first time I took.

TBR and I cuddled and made g = Gm/r^2

 I do! I get the concepts, just not the stupid math.

Eff Kaplan.

I literally learned nothing. I slacked off the first time around, did okay. Thought I could do better, so I actually used the Kaplan resources. Basically saw no improvement except for a gift boost in BS. What a waste of time. If I was going to spend that money and effort on a retake, I might as well have gone with a service that knew what the hell they were talking about.

My second MCAT BS super surprised me. It was almost all genetics and Orgo. no physio type questions. My first mcat had almost all physio type questions with some Amino orgo stuff.

ended up making the same score on both of them so it was like wtf "i dont know genetics i iz enngineer"

Love math. I got all the concepts too... but I just really got blown out of the water by my PS section. It was... OUT OF CONTROL.

Nothing like the practice tests. Hahaha.

Yeah, I felt kind of disconnected when I was going through the PS section. I felt much better when I hit verbal, but I couldn't get a read on PS. Usually I get a feeling about the questions, but just couldn't do it.

Heh.

My PS section was like "wtf how do I not know this I'm an engineer."

i felt that way when Gen Chem questions. it was a big big blow...luckily two of the passages where over stuff i did research over. Made me a happy boy

Now that's hilarious.

lolol.

My BS section was "wtf I never took these classes."

14. Pwnt. I mean, I felt like I actually understood PS the best. This test makes no sense to me at all

Exactly. Both times my PS was my lowest section. My highest was VR and writing which was a real WTF.

Injunirs dun reedz or ritez

and yes, I suck at mastering the MCAT

That's how i felt about my PS when I took it :scared:

I don't care what I get on PS if everything else comes out to 30+

Neither to me.... the MCAT is stooooooopid

I'm stooooopid.

My VR section was supposed to be my strongest section. Got 2-3 points below my test average the first time.

Hmm. Maybe I should practice a passage or something instead of just doing practice tests... didn't do them. Got the same score the second time around. FML.

I don't buy the whole... your MCAT score correlates with your step 1 score. It's hog wash. The USMLE tests knowledge. It's a knowledge based test. The MCAT is like an IQ test.

its a state of mind on the day type test. eff it

I sure the heck hope not! I don't buy it either.

lolwriting.

Only wrote the intro for the second essay. Got a Q. 😕

I know someone that hit a 29, 3 years ago. She's a med student at Feinberg now.

They rocked a 238 on step 1.....soooooo yeah!

Did she retake the MCAT, or did she get in with a 29?

I have no idea what to think about the application process. I see people like NickNaylor get rejected pre-interview from HMS, Stanford, and UPenn, then I see some scrub with inferior stats/ECs/non-URM get interviews to all of those schools.

Huhhhhh? WTF. Howww!

I know! I was disappointed in my overall score, but I was laughing so hard at my writing score that it didn't really matter.

It was at that point that I just told myself "Okay, this test is broken."

She got in with a 29. I'm not gonna question the application process.

The adcom I met with yesterday said...

"Yes, now your application is at our mercy."

There's reasons behind why they do what they do NickNaylor may not have been the type of student they were looking for. They get a lot of NickNaylors... but this scrub you're talking about... He/She isn't so inferior... they must bring somethin else to the table.

Sweet, I have a 29. That gives me a bit of hope.
