BOTTOM LINE: This move benefits both sides.
Other Thoughts:
With all of that said there are some really butt hurt fans out there of opposing teams that do not want this to happen. And the fans that know they can't do anything about it are throwing A&M under the bus left an right.
You know you can't deny that the Big 12-3 is really on shaky ground now. If anything, the fans that are mad at A&M should be mad at their own University's AD for not growing a pair and looking out for their own school.
There are also people who think A&M will take a hit in recruiting and if you think that you haven't been following recruiting the past few years. Sherman has done a great job of keeping OU at bay this last year and Les Miles is pissed about the recruits we are stealing form LA. Heck last year we stole Shaun Ward (one of the top LBs in FL) out of Florida. If anything this gives us more states to recruit and more of a sales pitch than before.
In addition there are also people who have convinced themselves that TCU or Houston will be just as good or better. PLEASE put down the crack pipe. TCU is a respectable program and Gary Patterson is an amazing coach. Their fans are also classy from what I have experienced. But they bring no more TVs or fans to the table. A&M has 3 national championships (Only 1 that we claim) 18 conference titles and we are top 20 all time in wins. TCU is not. They have a program headed in the right direction but they do not bring what A&M does to the table.
There was also an article today about how Deloss Dodds, NOT Dan Beebe was sizing up replacements for A&M. That should go to show you right there that none of the remaining teams in the conference will be treated with respect as long as they are in the same conference as Texas. Dan Beebe is dirty and he is a whipping boy for TU.
The other thing that gets me is that A&M was never really against the LHN. We were only against the airing of high school games and fine with TU only airing one game. I think most people thought ESPN was crazy because they would never fill air time with Texas sports alone. Once the deal was finalized A&M was actually okay with it. Then came word that Texas had signed contracts with high school coaches in which they had recruited from to air high school games. That was a huge red flag. About the same time Texas announced they were going to jump the gun and go ahead and try to air a second football game.
We weren't against the network. Only the smoke that Texas was blowing because they were not being honest. A few weeks later communications and emails surfaced where it became apparent that Texas did not care about the rest of the conference. Missouri and OU stood up an apposed what was going on but did nothing other than say a few words.
REALITY:
Us Aggies could regret this move down the line but for now we have the Coaching, Resources, Facilities, Fans and the Money and a team that is on the rise. Things are looking up. And if you really hate us that much then you shouldn't mind us leaving.
