This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
interesting; you sound like a studmuffin. now that you're single, are there ulterior motives involved in this dinner extravaganza?

Nah, I'm keeping my hands to myself on this one. I'm kinda on break with the last girl I was with.

Edit: First time on top, and it feels so good. I mean that in a completely, non-sexual way.

Forgive and forget and learn from your mistakes. It's what all great relationships are based on. I won't lie, I think about the betrayal every day. But, I want to show it that I still care for it and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make this work.
A+ for commitment to the bit.

He's just gonna leave you. Don't do it.

what are people's thoughts on talking about intended specialty in PS? I think I'm 99% sure I'm doing it but wanted your thoughts

I don't think it will significantly help or hurt you. You'll probably see the same question on a secondary or too. Why not?

I think its fine to say you have an interest and your EC's support it. Saying outright that you want to go into "XXXXX" wouldn't be ideal. I just stated what my interests were and supported it with examples.

As long as your ECs match up with your PS, you're prepared to handle questions about your commitment to the specialty in interviews, and you feel like that's really going to be the best representation of your desire to enter medicine, then I suppose there's nothing wrong with it. It's all about making your passion to be a physician clear to adcoms.

Stop ninja'ing me!

i would, if you made it connect throughout. if you're talking about your summer internship thing in neuro, and mentioned how it inspired/solidified your decision for neuro, it would make sense, IMo.

I think it's fine to mention that you have interest in a particular specialty and why, but I wouldn't say anything that might make adcoms think that's the only reason you want to go to med school. I mean, what if you didn't match into it?

I am now going to make/indulge myself in some maggi 😍😍😍😍😍😍

I'LL TRADE YOU CUPCAKES FOR MAGGI! ohmygosh that stuff is sooo addicting

note: maggi is the indian version of ramen noodles. Just as bad for you, but just as delicious.

Actually, my cousin just finished med school, and when asking her about the interview process, the best advice she could give me was to explicitly reference a specialty if asked that nebulous "where you see yourself in 10 years" question. It wasn't what I was expecting (or what I'd grown accustomed to hearing on these boards), but apparently a BS life plan from a student with zero relevant medical education is better than an "I don't know."

Or maybe my cousin's an idiot.. I don't know. Er, ahem, *Dr. Idiot.

p.s. I literally just drove to the gas station and back to get a pack of Keebler club and cheddar sandwich crackers and some POP

I would just say "Rich" and stare uncomfortably at the interviewer until he (or she... I suppose women can be doctors too) moved on to another question.

That's funny, I'm drinking a coke. Specifically, Sprite.

Bold. What if you tried staring... COMFORTABLY?

I, too, got a sprite. Your comment is passable since Sprite is a product of the Coca-Cola company. Otherwise, your southern ignorance amuses me.

But seriously, pop is what happens when you squeeze a zit.

Am I at 300 posts yet?

I can only make comfortable stares if I'm wearing comfortable shoes - and a man on a mission never wears comfortable shoes to an interview.

The more you know :prof:

Holy Turkish mudburglar! How many peeps are drinking Sprite right now?!

it's only the best soda on the planet👍

False, it's 7th on my hierarchy. I guess you can call Sprite "soda" since soda is carbonated water, and Sprite clearly doesn't have a lot of sweetener / flavor additive.

Coca-Cola classic trumps all. Surge was a close second, but the frequent caffeine-induced rage episodes and head explosions put a premature end to that glorious line.

Oh my god, I remember Surge! Wasn't it discontinued when we were, like, 12?

Diet Coke is my all-time favorite. I've been drinking diet for so long that I don't even like the taste of regular coke anymore.

Meh, as long as you don't indulge in that Coke Zero crap. Anyone who says they taste the same is unworthy of taste buds, and I feel obligated to remove said taste buds with a cheese grater.
