Class of 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Don't worry, you'll never use any of that information ever again.
yeah, except, I have to take the upper div ochem elective in the fall 🙁 Ochem that is 400 level...help me god :scared:
Talked to the prof, she said the class is about understanding ochem and learning how to do the mechanism in general for anything, more than memorizing reactions and mechanisms.

Well, you're on your own there.

I found that to be the case with all mechanisms, especially in second semester. Example, when you see that little H+ above the arrow you should get a voice in your head that says "Hey fool, something is getting protonated first". Then you only need to see the most likely place. I thought it was the hardest part of organic.

I'm actually going to miss orgo. It was definitely my best pre-req, and I liked synthesis problems 😳.

It's shocking how fast I forgot all of ochem, general chem, and physics after the MCAT. Seriously, I don't think I could do the simplest problems anymore.

It's great!

Me too! Orgo was my favorite of the pre-reqs. Bio was my least favorite, because of all the drosophila and E. coli crap we had to memorize. I can recognize that those things are important, but I still don't want to have to know about them in detail. My second favorite was physics, which I TAed for. I didn't like gen chem much, but my professors for gen chem were amazing so that made up for my lack of interest in the subject material.

AAAHHH... sliced my finger peeling a freakin' mango. Contemplated going to urgent care, decided krazy glue would do the trick. Stupid slippery mango.

Hellooooo future doctor haha. But seriously, hope you're okay!

Thanks. It's feeling better now that I have some pressure on it.

How's the studying going? You just couldn't pull yourself away from us? :meanie:

Pretty much 🙁 I just love talking to you all too much!

Studying is aight. Spent about 3 hours today doing Acids and Bases passages, and actually learned a lot that I didn't know before. I <3 Berkeley Review haha. Last time I took the test I barely did any passages, so I'm changing it now and doing tons. Hopefully that helps :xf:

Hey now....

I usually let the first Cubs insult slide, so watch yourself!

Oh, that's right, I did comment on the Cubs in some other thread.

I don't even know why I'm trash-talking. I have a habit of cheering for sports teams that haven't been relevant in years.

They use what's basically krazy glue in the ED anyway. Just pout some vodka on it. Or better yet, drink the vodka and you won't feel it anyway.

Been up since 6:30 today as I took another practice test completely forgetting that as of Saturday a bunch of my school's computer labs are closed for the summer. So now I have to figure out how I'm going to take my last few FL before my test.

In the meantime, got my highest practice test score today, maybe I'll be buying that first shot for my West Coast peeps after all if it keeps up through test day 😎

Still somewhat frustrated over stupid mistakes (like changing obvious right answers to wrong ones) which is weird because its only happening because I have so much more time left at the end of each section now (which definitely wasn't happening like a month ago). So its just a matter of fine tuning, which can definitely be done in 4 days.

GL!!! :luck: I got a 14 on BS the week before and I was pumped. Make sure to carry that confidence to the test and you will do wonderfully.

Just got done grilling and drinking Blue Moon. Twas a good night. Hope everyone is doing well. 🙂

i'm not quoting cuz i have had a *looooong* day.

a) all of you are so young!!
b) class of 09 represent! 😉

so last night i went to a movie. it got out at midnight, and then the theatre shut down. i went out with friends for a while. got home, and realized immediately that my key had fallen out at the theatre. luckily, my friend lives upstairs. it was a friday but i had work the next day, so i stayed over, showered, and borrowed her clothes.

went to work all day (school festival - just a fun day with my kids), and then picked up my key from the movie theatre. my bike was stuck at school because my bike key was locked in my apartment. so i walked home (30 mins), got my bike key, walked BACK to work (30 minutes), and finally got my bike and rode home (15 minutes)

longest day EVER!

Woke up today @ 6:30 am on. a. Saturday. because of class. 😡

Not everyone! Shakespeare=OLD 😀

Looked them (Moe's) up. The food sounds awesome.

It was an awesome place actually- we had a great time.

Cubs fan? I'm so sorry ... it must feel like you're constantly being punched in the face.

See below. I do enjoy the being punched in the face constantly part though 👍

I'm pretty sure that

Steve = White Sox fan
Phnerd = Cubs fan

Oh, at least the White Sox have been relevant in the last decade (plus they had MJ in their farm system for a couple of years!).

😀. This is perfect, but the only thing I'd fix is "relevant in the last century".

Class of '09 undergrad! Woohoo! 😀 I finished my postbac in December.

Grats on the postbac

I hope you're not a Lions fan too.

+1. I was great at orgo.

Another '09er. Awesome!! Makes me feel not so non-traditional. I'll keep my non-trad status, though, thank you 😀.

:corny: I find a slight amount of humor in phnerd being teased.... It's so easy! Haha 😉

Missy, can't keep away? Good luck with the studying 🙂 beat the **** out of that test in 5 weeks! ...then come play with us 🙂

Steve 😡 not funny. You're gonna get it.

Yay I finally have an ally!

😛. To tell you the truth, you have gotten about 1/10th of the teasing that I dish out to most Cubs fans.

That's what everyone says 😕 Haha I have to stop getting so mad about everything!

And noo 🙁 It's so hard! But I just went and got some lunch, now in to study the whole day! Parents are gone too so I'll actually be able to concentrate. Back to school in a week as well for the last month of studying. It's coming up!

Should I feel special? haha

Hahaha so you DO get that a lot

Hm, i'm spending today studying for finals and writing my personal statement. The motivation is back..
Isn't it funny how it's EASIER to concentrate when family is not around...i tell my parents that when I want to study in the library and they never get it 😕

Haha yes unfortunately. I guess there might be some truth in it

See I studied MCAT at school and was so distracted. I came home because I thought that having a support system around me would help. False. I get so distracted because they just keep asking me what I get on practice tests. Though, its good that I don't have to cook, clean and do other stuff for myself. 🙄

This! But, their perception of "average" is so skewed, because everyone we know gets like 35-36, so when I was getting low-30s on my tests, it definitely wasn't good enough 😡

Fo' real. My cousin is MD/PhD at a top UC with a 38. Doesn't help my case much.

I thought you needed at least a 35 to post on SDN. My bad.

Should I feel special? haha

It's probably just some SDN courtesy 😀

Having my own place was key for my studying. Take the bus to my alma mater's library and voila. Would call the p's about practice tests whenever I felt like it.

I only have one cousin out of 30 or so that even has a bachelors degree aside from myself. A 30+, even low 30s, was considered iconic in my family's eyes, though they really have no idea what any score means aside from what I tell them 🙂.

You're a Cubs fan? That makes me a sad panda.

I grew up a mile and a half from Wrigley. I hope that doesn't diminish your opinion of me too much. :meanie:

If it makes you feel better, there was a period of time in my childhood when I was a Sox fan. That was probably after I went to my first Cubs game and they got shellacked. By the Expos, I think. *sigh*
