Not in the slightest.

Edit: Yay!!! Top! Perfect ending to my monologue.

Blah all my friends are adding their med schools on facebook. What I would do to be at that point....

The Heat lost this year for three reasons:

1) LBJ and D-Wade are the same type of player

2) They lacked a dominant big man. Bosh is more of a 3 than a 4-5.

3) They lacked depth

Number 2 would be covered by the best big in the league. Number 3- ok, who cares- Dwight Howard is on the team now, do you really need your JJ Bareas and Jason Terrys running around to be the best at this point? Number one, well, if they figured out a way to make it work such that one player can play off the ball, then, yes, the NBA would be ruined completely and utterly.

Mavs were big time contenders all year until Dirk and Caron Butler were hurt. Dirk just picked it up come playoff time and recaptured what they were flirting with early in the season.

Anything can happen, but the odds would tilt heavily towards the Heat, ruining the NBA if those odds succeeded over and over again as I expect they would.

This is why I think the draft should not be a draft at all, but a true lottery - all entering players should be randomly assigned to a team and be locked-in for life. All players should also receive the same salary. Then we'll see who really wants to win.

And D-Wade is a god in my eyes. Of the dynamic duo, he's the better in pretty much every facet of the game. Yeah, I'm claiming he's tougher in the post than LeBron is. So what? Come at me, bro

That's an interesting proposition. I'd probably be OK with that.

D-Wade is not a God. He's a prolific scorer; that's for sure. Yet, to say Wade > Lebron is kind of silly. Lebron + goons: 60+ wins. Wade + goons: I think it was 20 something wins .

I think I ate your chocolate squirrel, champ

Agreed. Though his imitations of Dirk when he was sick were a bit unclassy.

1) I don't see any of them backing down. IMO, LeBron is a better player than D-Wade, but D-Wade is a better leader. Who's going to give up trying to be an alpha dog, both of them are too stubborn.

2) Bosh seems like a push-over, so if Dwight steps in, yeah, they could shut teams down.

3)Whaddya mean? Even knew what to expect with those two?

Oh, didn't know that the Mavs were always contenders. Didn't really care about them until they were in the semi-finals. Hahaha.

My only point is that yes, the odds would be in their favor....by a lot, but if they cannot act cohesively as a team, then no matter what the odds are, they won't win many titles (maybe one, lol).

Yes, anything can happen, which is what makes sports interesting. Who knows, the Cubs could even win the championship this season. :meanie: Sorry phnerd, I couldn't resist!!

I refuse to comment per your Cubs comment. :meanie:

1) I don't either. I think its going to be a continuous power struggle on and off the court. Lebron may be a better player, but his character just ruins it for me.

2) Bosh definitely seems like a push over, especially at the end of the season when he was in a continuous slump. Not until he had that ridiculous game against the Bulls did I ever consider he could rise and be a team leader.

Nothing's gonna happen until they can actually start working together. The team fell apart without Lebron, and they lost. He needs to realize how to perform in the clutch and not let his emotions get the best of him.

And bookfreak...that was uncalled for haha

Interesting proposition, but randomly assigning players to a team could result in a Heat-esque team with tons of excellent players and skewing the odds in their favor.

I can see where you are coming from, IMO, LeBron has more (potential, lol) talent, but that talent means nothing if he can't produce during the playoffs. I thought he would have learned his lesson after his horrific defeat to the Spurs, but I guess not. *sigh*

He was out a good portion of that season, though... and that's questionable evidence regardless. At least I could name other players on the Cavs roster! And D-Wade is a god specifically because he is NOT just a prolific scorer. He's a phenomenal shot-blocker, paster, and - most importantly - posterizer.

All that aside, I love LBJ. I think he's done absolutely nothing to warrant the criticism he's garnered, either. The reason for "The Decision" is not because LB demanded it, but because the millions of people who would so readily complain about it were willing to watch it in the first place. It was a producer's dream. And the whole departure from Cleveland thing? He was well within his rights. If a player underperforms, he's ousted; I think organizations need to be held to the same standard by their hired help.

They were posturing to mock fun of the media's hypersensitivty to everything (which includes the sniffles) 🙂

I'm sorry! 😳

The funniest part is when D-Wade was like: I actually did cough, you guys just caught me at that exact moment.

I'd say they've already demonstrated their ability to play cohesively as a team by getting to the title game in their first year.

Furthermore, I dunno that I'd so readily ascribe characteristics such as egoism and stubborness to these guys. It's true that we've come to expect a little haughtiness from the greats, but I really haven't seen much this year to indicate that there's any sort of power struggle going on, and as the season progressed, their offense evolved into something much more dynamic than a series of iso plays. I'd say their lack of 1-on-1 play turned out to be their downfall... the Mavs themselves never even threatened to win until Terry and Dirk began taking it upon themselves to shoot it every chance they got during 4th-quarter possessions.

And I still don't know wtf is going on: people will simultaneously claim that Lebron needs to take charge and that the Heat need to play more as a team. .... Something's gotta give.

And LBJ is not the reason the Heat lost. They lost because the best starting center they can muster only managed to score 4 points in the whole Finals series. Even if he didn't get a single pass, he should have quadrupled that number on offensive rebounds alone if he had an iota of offensive talent.

I thought it was due to their actual basketball skills not team-work. Team-work would have won them the title.

To me, it just seems that both players play to their best potential when they are given free-reign to completely dominate and have ridiculous stats every game. So because LBJ > D-wade, let him dominate.

By team, I mean LBJ dominates and everyone else supports him, a la Cleveland (minus the support,).

Blasphemy. Magic Johnson himself claimed that Wade is the 3rd best shooting guard of all time. MJ -> Kobe -> DWade

I don't even know what LeBron is, exactly. PF, SF, SG? Does he even know? If he wants to stay the guard route, he needs to take the 3 more consistenly. His percentages were amazing those last couple games, but his timing was odd... there were times he was on a streak and completely unguarded, and just passed it off.

October 15 = acceptances for all?

That would be nice. Go ahead and write me a list of schools where I have guaranteed acceptance? Please and thank you! If I had the means, I would seriously apply to every school in existence. I vacillate between uber confidence and crippling uncertainty, and currently I'm in the latter phase. My biggest concern is EC's. I did not know I wanted to pursue an MD until after graduation, and have been employed full-time since. Just.. the chance... at an interviewwwwww... would be greatly appreciated.

Quickly, though- he's a 3. He just plays the other positions at times to throw off the opposing defense.

Hmm, I distinctly remember saying that posts should be suspened until after my MCAT, I'm missing far too much 😡

From lurking on the C/O 2014 thread, it seems that mods, and possibly donors are exempted from the 20 second rule. *scratches chin in thought*

Peace.

Wow, you guys had a basketball discussion without me?

This thread is dead to me 🙁

Many posts in thread
But not much that is of use
Do not fear, Soldier

Yes, that was a haiku.
