Class of 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Are you waiting to take the MCAT?

I've taken once, did decently, but was really hoping to distinguish myself in order to compensate for other.. uh, deficits... and so am retaking next month. I presume I should just go ahead and submit, and my new scores will be forwarded automatically. Sure hope I improve, or my decision was a bad one 😳

Yes, all of the posters in this thread are superheroes.

Edit: my blather paid off! TOP.

I'm the Aquaman of this group - marginalized, and seemingly useless, but when the flood comes, I'll be sittin' pretty. You'll see.

Nice BS score by the way 🙂 Color me impressed.

I think I victimized myself with a fluky performance on the VR.

Just how decently, exactly?

Just kidding, just kidding...

Could you forward me the email for educational purposes? 👍

Creeper.

today is the day... i finish my PS? as you can see i'm a little behind... or at least "chronologically challenged," as i do already have my transcripts and MOST of my letters in order.

summer is not good for productivity

Summer is definitely NOT good for productivity. It's so hard to sit and fill out AMCAS when the sun is shining and there's a lovely cool breeze on a hot day.

Okay, that's it, I'm taking my dog to the park. I promise I'll work on AMCAS this afternoon! 😀

My score, if taken alone, would not prevent me from getting in anywhere I don't think, but it's not outstanding either. My GPA was solid, too, but my EC's suck, and I'm not really going to be disingenuous about it and embellish my app.

Likely story... at any rate, yesterday was all cloudy and whatnot, and I sat down to actually start entering coursework, then BOOM! The evening sun pops through the blinds (I have west-facing windows), and so I'm compelled to go play basketball. Darn weather, conspiring against me.

What kind of dog? I took my boss's lab on a river-swimming excursion last Saturday.

That's how I feel about my MCAT score. It was my own fault, though. I really underestimated the number of practice tests I needed to take in order to be comfortable during the real thing. I'm not retaking because I got a fairly balanced score that sits just about at the median of most of the schools I'm interested in, but I kind of regret not preparing more. Especially when I see scores like nadaba's! *bow*

Why be disingenuous when you could be ... a genius?

I don't really know where I was trying to take that.

No time for regret.

THIS IS SERIOUS STUFF.

I'm pretty sure he got a 44 but wants a 49

No chance. I seriously wish we could order a copy of our exam, because I'm like 50/50 on whether I just completely forgot to do an entire VR passage. Not that that would have made a huge difference in score, but I fnished with more time than usual and it somehow just didn't seem very difficult, leaving me confident enough to proceed to the next section without checking my work. DOH!

I still to this day believe my crappy verbal score was because I forgot to do a passage. I didn't think it was hard either. Darn you, AAMC

EXACTLY! I really didn't know quite how to prepare (started visiting SDN a little too late in the process), so while I felt I knew most of the material, and hadn't prepared for the actual test-taking experience... didn't pace myself too well, wasn't familiary with the wording of questions / use of double negatives, etc.

Now I'm a huge advocate of practice, practice, practice. It's more a reasoning-based test than I had expected.

Well, we took it the same day; maybe we had the same issue. Do you remember the sideways scroll-bar fiasco? I'm thinking this was a computer malfunction and we need to start a petition.

I realized with 30 seconds left in the PS section that I missed the last three questions. 🙄 I had just enough time to look at them and realize they were easy questions, but not enough time to answer them. Still managed a pretty decent score in that section, but I wonder if those three questions would have been enough to move up a point.

I do! Wasn't it with that ochem passage though? I seriously stared at one of the questions and didn't know how to answer it until I saw the scroll bar 3 minutes later.

And I don't knwo what my problem is for the test. I know the information well, but when it comes to the tests, I KEEP making dumb mistakes. I think I just need to focus on the practice. I have no shortage of material and I think doing tons of passages will help (hopefully)

I don't either. Congrats on your score, too, though!

Thanks...but I wish I had studied harder.

My second score was actually a retake, but I didn't study any harder for my retake than I did the first time around, so it was just a waste of time. I was telling myself I would review practice tests, go over practice problems, blahblahblah ...and all I end up doing is retaking 2 AAMCs (didn't realize that I had already taken the tests before until I finished).

Derpderpderp. Just lucky my score didn't go down

Yeah, it was a chem one. Can't remember if it was regular chem or ochem though.

So public health, eh? I applied to public health school senior year, but then realized I was only using it as a faster, easier surrogate for the study of medicine and declined to attend. Epidemiology still really fascinates me, though, and I'm considering eventually getting an MPH as well.

haha, more progress than i've made... totally got those amino acids down though... as if that would help

Yep, I love public health. It was easier graduate in three years or get another major or do a combined undergrad/grad program. I think that knowledge of public health is essential in medicine, especially if you want to work with large populations and institute widespread change. Definitely something you all should consider 👍

this is my contribution for the day to get us to page 100.🙂

Finishing up these labs, submitting transcript request forms and LOR forms, then onwards 👍

carry on.

Ew this MCAT talk is horrible. I moved away from the MCAT forum for a reason 🙁.

Who will top the century page? They shall be called the Centurion.

Also, AMCAS needs to hurry up and verify me!!!

Is there any form of confirmation once AMCAS receives your transcripts? I know it can take awhile to get verified, but I'm paranoid that the manilla envelope from my school will somehow never arrive.

👍. I am still a bit bitter about my BS score though. Sorry, had to chime in 😳

Anywho, all of my letters are in....yay! Apps are sent out tomorrow I believe. Who's ready for some secondaries?

Yes, AMCAS will send you an email when they receive each transcript.

I'm just a little salty about my PS score, really. Our PS section was so random..

Letters- you lucky dog. I hope my committee gets mine in within 1-2 weeks. :xf::xf::xf:

Commence taco bell food coma as a result of 99 cent crunchwraps...

ughhhh

Damn, work got in the way of my chatting.

I'm sure you'll do just fine 👍

Good luck!

Aren't those things normally like 2.50? There's a Taco Bell right across from my work...

No beef, add beans? 😀

You know it 😉 and yeah I dunno why they're 99 cents, but I don't ask questions, I just rejoice.

Did they ever find out if Taco Bell uses "real beef" in their food?

I think the lawsuit was dropped. Cow anus still counts as beef.

My lunch today: peanut butter sandwich, baked lays, and a fiber one bar. Kind of depressing

That sounds like old person food.

Gramps.

Don't worry, my lunch everyday consists of a protein shake or salad. 🙁
