My first tat didn't mean anything, I just liked it. 😛 I got it two years ago and still love it just as much as I did the first day. Never had a single regret!

As with most other things, I wouldn't do it myself but don't begrudge anyone who does. When I take my shirt off, I don't want anything to ***** attention away from my sexy washboard abs is all.

I want a tattoo myself. But I don't feel that I'm diesel enough to pull off the one I want. Need to hit the gym, as soon as I'm finished with this primary, as soon as I feel like spending the money to get my official transcripts, as soon as I feel like going through the hassle of going to 3 different school websites to request them online..

Hmmm... I wonder if my apathy qualifies me for the wannabe gunner club, I don't care to find out though.

need thoughts on school specific student LOR's. what do you guys think about students writing to the admissions committee on how you'd be a good fit, etc? Especially from schools that work closely with students on the admissions process?

I was personally told never to get a letter from someone without a doctorate. Except for the University of North Dakota, which actually requires a letter from a friend and/or colleague, I don't think a letter from a buddy currently in med school would be worth a lick. It's unfortunate, but there's too much potential for bias-induced truth-stretching.

I don't think Adcoms will take the word of a med student over those of professors, doctors, and people in managerial positions as far as when it comes to whether or not you'd be a good fit. Besides, isn't that what the secondaries and interview are for? I guess it wouldn't hurt to have one, but they should be only considered after you've found the basic 3 letters the school requires.

*sigh* I thought the all-nighters were done with. But the only way this PS is getting written is if it's done between 4-6 am. Those are my peak productivity hours.

years of having 9:30 classes that involve writing have made me accustomed to those hours of production as well. I have a rough draft, but I can't will myself to basically start over after it was torn apart 2 years ago.

I'm already an old woman. I have cats, and I shake my stick at little kids when they walk by me in my rocking chair on the porch. Also, you know how Walgreen's prints coupons based on what you buy? One time mine was a discounted AARP membership. Real talk.

I think the best thing to do is to is chug a few Rocktars, blast some AC/DC, and just dump out the stream-of-consciousness answer to "why do you want to be a doctor?" Worry about editing later. It's easier to edit than it is to write something initially.

Yeah, it was also when I thought I was going to be class 2015 too. I'd be willing to join a grumpy old men's club. I'll probably be the oldest one too. I think I'm probably the oldest 2016 hopeful here.

Definitely not. I don't wanna name names, but there are at least 3 semi-frequent posters in here that come to mind who have 4-5 years on you at least.

I don't really know if you should be applying to med school. It's one thing to be a nontraditional applicant, but I'm not sure that at your age you'll have the physical dexterity necessary to be a physician.
