Class of 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Wish I had a physical activity course. I think kin offered something like this, but it was half health half swimming. And I take to swimming as well as an anchor on fire.

Well... if the fire is sufficiently hot, and the metal of which the anchor is wrought is of fairly low density to begin with, then maybe you float?

I love fireworks. Celebrate your country by blowing up a small part of it.

It's an act of protest. The fireworks themselves are manufactured in Taiwan, so naturally they must be destroyed.

That probably needs to be on the cover of Good Housekeeping. I didn't know jealousy was an emotion that could bring one to the verge of tears, but alas, 'tis

Chocolate bundt cake with chocolate icing served alongside Heath bar ice cream. Freaking. delicious. omnomnom.

But running... is like the least exciting option on there (refer to my sig). Mainly because you need little instruction, and because it doesn't require access to special facilities/equipment. Should've gone with SCUBA. Or basketball. Or both. I played basketball in flippers once.

Why?

Chilling in front of the A/C. I'm full of lovely food. Life is good.

Except for the niggling part of my brain that's reminding me of my non-submitted AMCAS. *sad face*

Because in America, we have the time and resources for such frivolity.

'Merica! YEAAAA

Submitted my UCSD secondary. 6000 characters seemed like a lot until i started writing. I had to cut and edit like a beast.

3 secondaries and two essays for class done. Achievement unlocked. I get to enjoy my afternoons this week yay!!

The UCSD secondary is a beast. Congrats. How many more are you expecting?

The 7/28 MCAT thread is laaaaaaaaame. Everyone just keeps posting updates on how many chapters they've read. I much prefer to see what people have been eating.

6000 chars? I'm glad I won't be applying there.... I can't even finish up my stupid PS.

Will never be as awesome as the food posted in this thread.

4-5 more. Luckily, I've been checking the school topics to see if I have gotten screened out. Not yet as it seems for most. I did get screened at Nebraska for not being a resident. So I had to submit an appeal to Nebraska as to why I have close ties to the state(all of my immediate family lives, is from, or went to school there). I was expecting to get screened out of UCSD but hey I'll take it.

It seemed really daunting at first. But since it was a straight autobiography which also has bits and pieces of why you want to go into medicine, it ended up being easier. I got to touch upon a lot of the stuff I did in high school that was medically related and not anywhere on my application or essays and I was able to explain any difficulties.

I hope I get screened in at UCSD. California schools are always a long shot, but I hope you get an interview invite. :xf:

Haha, it's good to live in the midwest. Watch me not get accepted to my state U 🙁

Budget cuts have cut my local library's hours. Open on Wednesdays - Sundays. 🙁

You'll get in. 👍

I dunno. I've always wanted to experience living in the midwest. I have an uncle that lives in Indiana and an aunt in Wisconsin. I've never visited them though (they always came to visit us 🙄). I'm applying to some schools there, so we'll see how that works out.

Screw budget cuts 🙁

Where are you supposed to read and get free books now?

Exactly. The amount of (good) books that they're getting is dwindling as well. Now I have to wait until Friday to check out some books. 👎

I need to start using my library more. I usually end up buying books. In bulk from B&N...

Barnes and Noble is awesome. I love going there and just perusing through their books. It is also a good MCAT studying space (early in the morning when no one's there). I'm too broke to buy books there, so there's no temptation. Lol.

Might as well spam while Firefox takes forever to load AMCAS web pages.

You have to get there during their off hours so you can hog one of the cozy chairs.

I love B&N. For Xmas i always ask for B&N gift cards to feed my addiction. screw a sweater its never cold in Houston

Too bad the company is tanking hard. Borders ftw.

Aren't those tanking too? The one closest to me in Houston went out of bussiness. Meanwhile there are like 3 B&N's within a 10 mile radius

Just saying I like Borders. I got my Divine Comedy copy there and it has nice illustrations to go along with the poem.

I thought Borders was the one that was closing down?

Borders not ftw. I think it's both, actually. There have been quite a few B&N closings around here. There was a really lovely store right next to the capitol building in Indy occupying the first two floors of a very opulent financial tower. They couldn't pay rent anymore. Now where will the homeless people read the paper?

I just always like Borders better for some reason. Have no idea why, as they're essentially identical.

I read books there for free especially during my MCAT studying breaks. 😳

Around here, all the Borders have been shutting down.

All this B&N talk is making me thirsty for more coffee...

Gross. Now I know why all my "new" books smell like palm sweat.

I prefer B&N. I, too, have no reason why. Although, Borders was where I bought my first Lindt chocolates.

yes yes yes yes

Anyone got firework plans tonight?
