So today I met someone who said they were in medical school... I clearly gravitated like a magnet. Being the neurotic gunner that I am...

Turns out they weren't in medical school... they were in a medical assistant program. Since when does a year of learning how to take blood and do nursing like duties constitute medical school?

Don't get me wrong. I love MAs, and I love RNs (when they're chilled and helpful, instead of crazy and trying to make you look bad).

Am I wrong in assuming MD/DO = medical school? I felt like a douche, when I was like oh have you written step I yet? How did you like anatomy?

And then she looked at me like I was an alien...

I tend to assume these people are intentionally misrepresenting what they do because they crave respect, and saying you're a medical assistant doesn't really garner that much. It may be an invalid assumption on my end, but they are wrong to say they are in "medical school."

She was going around telling people that she was in medical school, bla bla bla. I was like oh damn, awesome! I can't wait to ask her stuff.

Your gun is overheating 😀

That's what I thought too. I mean, if anything I'd want to keep on the down low that I was a medical student. I don't want people to have a pre-conceived notion that I am going to be a wealthy daddy warbucks surgeon for their daughter/niece/grand daughter.

Humility. It's important.

Humility. It's important.

I have the most humility of anyone I know.

I was trying to list modesty as one of my personal characteristics, but then I realized that even considering to list it probably meant I wasn't a modest person.

Did you finish that essay?

Bar scene is a whole different story. I have a very close friend that is a supermodel... no joke.

Some quotes of hers...

"F*ck... everyone is a doctor, dentist, or lawyer at this club. I need some diversity. What do you do? Venture Capital? Awesome."

"Just because I have a McDonald's gift card doesn't make me fat. I'm just dedicated to trans fat"

"What did he think? Just cuz he bought me a drink, I was gonna roll over and let him f#ck me? "

Confidence is important... but cockiness is not.

Generally, people that say someone is cocky when they are actually just confident and poised. They are just jealous.

Can't think of a way to write it without coming off as a jackass / cliche. 🙁

I had that problem. I just said screw it and did I work well with others, teamwork, communications, I'm a citizen of the world etc...

Camping was a great time- super tired today though. What did I miss in the thread?

Ha. Its kinda like when people ask me what im studying. When I saw biomedical engineering the usual response it

"*with a tone of disgust* Biomedical engineering?!"

"Engineering, yuck..."

I learned my lessons so now i say music(its partly true no lie)

I hate talking about school when I'm in the club scene. I always change the subject.

Heh... I always tell people I'm just doing liberal arts. I don't tell them I'm double majoring unless they really press.

I never mention it anymore. Music is much better. It usually goes

"oh what do you play"

"do you write"

"are you in a band"

"what kind of music do you play"

Haha, a couple weeks ago I heard somebody else complaining about this. If you say you're in medical school, it means you're in school to get your M.D. Nothing else. Not a medical technician, P.A., N.P., etc.

My favorite is to pretend I'm really artsy...

And start talking about feeling artwork. Living through painting. Hahaha.

Gets em every time.

Im talking in general. I relate to musicians/music alot better than engineers.

Don't forget DOs! They get angry...

Although I want to go to MD school, I think I will fork out the money for OMM course at HMS.

Cuz sometimes you just need somebody with the human touch...

You've fallen for it... haven't you?

Who relates to engineers anyways? Not even engineers! They're all so... uniquely EFFED.

Electrical Engineers. They clique-y
