Best day of the app season ever. Spoke with an adcom at UCSD today. Explained that my BCMP(w/e you call it) did not reflect my science abilities as it did not show my engineering courses. Told her about the rest of my stuff. She's like I'll make sure to personally read your application to push you along.

Yea its awesome. She told me that if by the off chance I dont get accepted there and dont matriculate somewhere else she would help get me invited into the post bacc program there. Just take some classes and re apply.

Texas schools start pre-matching acceptance around Nov 15 so i pray that is the case.

I'm being review by 4 different schools right now. I'd like some interviews... just to know that I have a chance. You know?

You'll get them. Its still waaay waaay early for AMCAS schools minus some.

Texas Schools got on the ball. 3 out of 8 for TMDSAS schools. only the TTU schools havent contacted me yet. But im slowly getting less worried about that.

Yeah... most of the schools I applied to are slow moving schools.

Like I said... just before thanksgiving. Or at the very least... BEFORE Christmas.

August. Their first interview is 9/3. Last year late july/august was when people heard. Same with UTH

Code: Pretty much sums up my AMCAS with the exception of Nebraska. Would be bitchin if we got a tulane interview on the same day if I go an interview htere
 
I wish I could paste my pre-med advisors email on here but she frequents this site..

So, I asked her if she could make an exception and write my cover letter for my letter packet as soon as possible. She says.. oh don't worry even if your letter goes out late september rather than mid september, its no big deal. LORs are part of the secondary and are due on the secondary deadline and I wouldn't be at a disadvantage at all when compared to my competitors because my primaries are in very early.

I agree... totally bitchin. Tulane is a top choice... along with every other school on my list. Hahahaha.

I have a connection somehow to each school i am applying to. Which makes them my "top school"

Whaaaaaaat! This is why I am SO SO SO SO SO happy I don't have a pre-medical advisor. These pre-med advisors are useless. The position provides a job for some 1000 people a year I am assuming, at various colleges and institutions.

FORGET PRE-MED ADVISING! SDN FTW!

A top school is anyone that accepts me...

Also anyone that asks you what a top choice is... or why you haven't gotten in yet.... can suck it. They clearly don't understand this process at all. Some dumb family friend was like... so you're applying now for this September? No... I am applying for next September...

My pre med advisor is awesome. They are one of the best. All the ADCOMS here in Texas know her. I pestered her so much these past years and it payed off.

Today I had my first freak out panic attack lol. Thinking of the fact that my AMCAS won't be verified for like a month while interview invites are already going out. FML.

Hey dont freak out. Only like 5 schools on AMCAS are sending stuff out right now. The rest do in sept.

feeling burnout/frustration with MCAT

I felt so confident two weeks ago, I feel like I got my VR confidence back today (3 perfect passages the past two days)


I took AAMC 7 on sunday and quit during BS because I felt so frustrated--barely broke 9's on PS and VR...this sucks


HELP!

Take a breather. You'll be fine. However, if your practice tests continue to be not where you want them. Post pone your test. The real deal isn't going to be easier than AAMC 7-11.

I think i took 7,9 and 10. 7 was the worst i remember and 9 was a confidence builder
I got 14 and 17's in practice ones and scored in the 30's on the real ones. No reason to fret.

I know the material and there is no reason I cant get 10 sub scores on every section--I'm taking a practice FL saturday ( I have an extremely busy research/clinical schedule this summer) and deadline to postpone is tomorrow....I've been bustin ass reviewing all the topics this week so I hope it pays off

I took 3 way back in april and got a 31 but that's the only one I've taken completely

It's always hard to explain this process to people who don't go through it. A few months ago my grandpa asked if I had "passed" the MCAT (he didn't realize that it's a scored test, not Pass/fail). To simplify things I just said yes, and he replied, "Oh, so you're going to med school." And I said no, I don't know yet. Then he looked at me confused and said, "But you passed the MCAT." :laugh:

I'm a little ADD, so studying and taking practice test for me was hard. The only reason i did it was to see how i could do with time and how the questions were like. On the real thing, the noise canceling headphones cured my ADD. Super concentrated, super speedy. Never took breaks, finished writing 30 minutes early and verbal 15 mins early, so i got out like 1-2 hours early.


Caffeine is a heck of a stimulant. Bless Caramel Machiatos.

point being is the studying environment is way different than the real thing. Even if you try to make it be like the real thing. Your sympathatic nervous system helps ya on the real thing.
