Class of 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just wanted to get to 900 that day.

Tell me, what is the secret of your immense spamming talent?

In all seriousness? Heat waves, and most of my friends are away on vacations. Mine starts next week. Europe here I home!

I will have my phone with me though. So I can drop by and post once in a blue moon.

Jealous. I'll get a vacation next summer, either to relax before med school or forget my sorrows of not being accepted.

Hey negative Nancy... gtfo.

You'll get in!

I was just reading the thread about the girl/guy who was depressed after not being accepted w/ 7 interviews. There are just so many good candidates that don't get accepted.

Oh, I get it... so when you say you're from "Detroit" what you really mean is "Bloomfield Hills / Grosse Pointe" 😉 Yeah, I'll go hop on my private jet and meet you over in Europe on my yacht off the coast of my Italian villa. 😀

It's not cuz I lift weights or I'm a bit of a health nut that takes way too much Omega-3 fish oil, and chromium picolinate.... but if you're obese... not just a little bit of extra weight... but OBESE... You need to fix that.

I knew a girl who interviewed 3 places one year... got 3 rejections. She was grossly overweight and it showed. She lost 40 pounds and got 6 interviews the next year, and 4 acceptances.

Rule of thumb: Don't trust a thin chef, or a fat doctor.

Yeah, I'm sure that nobody on adcoms would admit it, or even mention it to other members, but being obese would hurt your chances.

Well, if you're not in good health before you start med school, heavens knows what you'll look like after Step 1 + clinicals + residency.

I feel like I should start a blog with my MDApplicants account.

So back to fitness... and that fake curriculum I made up about the CB school of medicine.

I know someone that is at Jagellonian Medical College in Poland. They have a gym class. They have to complete 2 athletic sporting events every year. Like running a 10km race or biking 20km or something.

I think that's a great idea.

Agreed. Now of course the gold standard has been set by NickNaylor so it is your obligation to 1-up him.

NickNaylor behaves like a troll sometimes. He can be extremely rude to some of the scared first timers. He means well most of the time, but he's got a Dr. Cox for real personality on here sometimes.

So... I pay someone cash money (at med school tuition rates) to bust my butt exercising? Hellz no!

Agreed (though he has improved a lot recently) but that does not take away from the well-written MDApps profile that I was referring to. 😉

It's ONE class. And their tuition is only like 17,000 USD.

Depends on what the class options were. I'm definitely not a sports-oriented person. However, I would definitely do something like badminton. But running a race, that's out of the question.

US Tuition is GROSSLY over inflated.

Don't even get me started on my McGill rant. $3500 for medical school tuition. Uhhhhhh

I know you're not about to start a political discussion all up in my Class Of thread? No way shooga!

You should!

I second this.

Well, I have the first post up.

Don't worry, the later stuff will be better. This is just to test the waters. Also, there's no way I can make my stuff as comprehensive and useful as NickNaylor's blog. That requires way too much effort.

Maybe I'll post my AMCAS / TMDSAS stuff after this cycle's over.

Holy crap. Does the Canadian government really subsidize their med schools that much?

Actually, I feel like my blog will be less of a "blog", and more like me ranting about things that piss me off

I rather liked this... made me LOL.

"Right at this moment, my application is floating somewhere in cyberspace, and it makes me nervous. I know you're reading this, AMCAS folks. Don't do this to me. Think of the children."

Seconded. I've seen him take up arms against trolls and defend the honor of SDN with heartfelt spiels about how this forum is a sanctuary for aspiring premeds, but it seems like 90% of his posts are snarky one-liners insulting the OP's intelligence and/or the relevance of the thread. Why bump a thread you have no interest in?

He does that all the time. Not to **** talk the guy... I'm sure he's really not that malicious. But he probably doesn't have many friends, so he bullies the innocent little pre-meds...

like WYS said... "think of the children!"

I have a rant: stupid people who live in my dorm. None of them can figure out that the shower curtains go INSIDE the shower. Every day I walk into a half inch of water on the bathroom floor. Also, there was a girl on the phone in the bathroom. Hope the person on the end of the line liked hearing me pee.

We should all start blogs about things that piss us off. It's oddly therapeutic to rant about these sort of things.

Well... average for an Asian 😉

AZNaverage... at my school we had the JAVERAGE (jew average)... you either performed, or you didn't.

I'd rather do it on here... gets more views.

Sometimes I wonder why I'm willing to pay tuition at all. Busting your brain studying isn't always an experience that seems worth the price of admission either..

You think Nick's bad? You should have seen this one guy called ColeOnTheRoll!

I am against higher education in principle... but not practice.

The Khan Academy is great example, so is wikipedia.

Why should you have to pay obscene tuition to LEARN? I learn more by reading the internet, than I do in some classes.
