I mean I have had great research experiences. But only two out of my four mentor who seriously inspired me to do any kind of graduate work. The rest just made me kind of hate research and some specific areas of engineering/science.

Kids this is just one of the reasons why I am not wanting to pursue a pure research career

“To me, this implies they are not entering [postgraduate education] to train for a trade — they are drifting into it because they don’t have alternative plans, or it’s just ‘the next step’ somehow and they can defer making a decision for a few more years,” she says. “Given how poor the job prospects are in academia, this is a concern.”

Just like kids and going to grad school...

Purty much. My friends who arent going into industry and dont want to go to medical school are just using grad school as a deferment to the real world. When i ask them if research or academia is what they want to do with the rest of their life they say prob not...Now some go to sharpen their tools for industry. Not many industry jobs for BS BME students(a good number exist), but a grad degree makes things to much easier to choose an area of interest. Its a shame it cant be like MechE,ChemE, PetE,or EE and get many job offers out of college

Honestly, I'd rather spend a few years doing a tech job with on-site training than waste thousands of dollars in grad school debt, for a degree I didn't want to pursue. Hell, I'd even be a waitress and live with my parents until that med school acceptance came. I can never see myself involved in the world of academia 🙁

That'd be mychoice. Unless i got an NSF fellowship to do grad school. Then i would do a masters and just bide time for later.

Au Bon Pain???? Sigh... I need to show you real French bakeries my love.

I mean we did go to real bakeries ( a lot of bakeries.. mmmm), but it was the only place to grab food on the way back to the hotel. There was a supermarket in some mall though.. it was strange.

Edit: unintentional top! I will celebrate with food porn:
