Like most things in life, the higher up you go, the harder the steps become to climb. Is Step I half as bad as people make it out to be??

Objectively speaking though, Step 1 is still a miserable experience. Med. students have some high rates of depression. Guess when the peak of depression is? End of 2nd year...can you think of a reason why? Hint: it's not because they are about to end classes for good.
Nah that was the section to use Martin Luther king as a subject for each prompt.it works trust me![]()
LOL
No hands?
My writing checkist:

Civic issues: Social Contract
Anything else: World War II
If I got FAP... I would have applied to 50 schools.

Wish I had FAP.... I WISH!
I think it sailed over your head...or I'm just too immature.
Sorry bub, but I'm great when it comes to FAP

Nope, I got it... I just chose to not acknowledge it.. cuz I feel horrible about finding it funny. Hahaha
I really don't think any of you needs to even be the least bit concerned about Step 1 right now. Enjoy life as you can. Not that med. school is all doom and gloom. I mean, look at me, on call and doing absolutely nothing. It's kinda nice.Step I kicks that hard eh? Eff. Well, I guess I should invest in a copy of First Aid early on.

don't be, you're not the only one laughing![]()
1st question, no, not really. There is no secret to it. If you are already on SDN, you have a decent idea of what to expect. Once you start, you just adapt and your life goes on.AlexMorph, is there anything you wish you would have known before starting into med school etc?
And, what do you think is important in choosing a school?

2nd question, which school you go to only matters in the sense that can you see yourself being happy there. By which I mean, is the location good, will your classmates be people you can hang out with, etc. Rankings and stuff don't matter at all. Your "bottom of the barrel" MD schools constantly match people in some very competitive residencies and places. Once you get in, it is all on you. Your schools has very very little to with your success/failure.
wow, i just looked at the post count and BWSTW totally came out on top of me
So the old adage floating around these parts... "No one gives an eff where you go to med school" holds true? As long as you're not a Caribbean student.

Simply a product of the obscene amount of neuroticism pre-meds possess. It only gets concentrated in med. school, and let me tell you, dealing with these people is not fun.Seriously, I get like this 🙄 when ever I see a "got a C, no chance for top schools" type thread. Medical school is medical school is medical school
Yes.
When you enter med. school, undergrad means nothing.
When you enter residency, med. school means nothing.
When you start practicing, your patients aren't gonna ask you as soon as you enter where you did your residency.

You also have to live in Boston for that MGH residency. Eff that.Great breakdown.
There must be gunners that want their MGH residency at all costs. Thankfully, most of the people in my class thread here aren't ALL that neurotic. But, yes, SDN is bad for neuroticism.
I know a few kids at HMS that got Cs in orgo... some even failed a class. They still got into HMS...

Saggy... I got 5000. Just saying.
It's ok, just know that when you get back to your apartment you can look forward to a serious bout of pink eye. 😉
Depending on what you want to go into, residencies at Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana are much better.Yeah, I'd much rather hit up my NMH residency.

Laters. Patient choking on own vomit. And here I thought I was gonna get to chill...sigh.
Say wahh?! I'll add you when I get home; didn't know how to search by email address on my phone, and your name's way too common!
The sad thing is so many people can't pronounce my last name despite how common it is 🙄
