As it was once told to me...

the PhD is told what is interesting to research by the MD... the PhD is the MD's bitch...if you're an MD/PhD... you have complete autonomy in designing experimental protocols and studies. Plus you get more grant money as an MD/PhD.

The difficulty lies in evaluating "roundedness." Truth is, a lot of sociopaths are good at pretending to be well-adjusted, and racking up hours in certain types of activities isn't a real good indicator of personality.

Now... yes, I might be a sociopathic serial killer who wants to channel my energy into surgery. However, the interview process is supposed to weed out personality flaws.

I did that last week for my interview. Still in state. Texas is a big state. a 2 hour drive is a daily commute :laugh:

sent out 30 applications for summer programs/work. Got back some offers. SoCal seemed like a good way to spend a summer
