So, VCU's application asks you to list your top 3 specialty choices... what exactly are they looking for here?

I would say your top 3 specialty choices....

Here's how I would do it...

I would grab my MSAR... not like I have it memorized or anything... and pick their top 3 ranked specialties for that year.

Most likely Internal Medicine, Surgery and Family medicine 🙂

They were really strongly Internal Medicine, which I was going to put anyways.

Thanks guys. Im beyond stoked right now. Kinda confused why the other half of my state schools(UTSW,El Paso, San Antonio and even Baylor) havent given me love yet : /. Oh well ill be patient and wait.

Im waiting on NU as well : ) i submitted my app like last tuesday. Had to wait to get my waiver approved.

Pritzker invite before I even submit my secondary .... I am clearly not on top of my game :laugh:
 
So I told someone about my Tulane interview and they were super not happy.

They were sort of mad that I had a lower GPA than them and they got the reject. 🙁 I felt bad. But what was I supposed to do?

If I had the opportunity to do a post-bacc I would take something other than science for a semester though.

I really liked my philosophy classes at NU.

"Why do you want to be a doctor?" (so far I've got....)
-To become a leader of a healthcare team
-The human body is something that I am engrossed by, but more importantly, the human aspect of medicine, where sometimes a drug or surgery cannot do anything to alleviate a patients suffering, your words are enough to make them feel at ease.
-I want to accept the challenge and responsibility that comes with being a physician. To become an integral part of the community and give back all that has been given to me through teaching future generations of students etc.

I'm going out in a bit so I can't keep you company, but those all sound reasonable to me. *shrug* I'm of the "tell it from the heart" school of thought, but maybe that doesn't help for some people. 🙂

That sounds good.

No one ever asked me that question though, so I can't say that my prepped answers were good or not good. But they sounded much like that🙂

I did get asked "why medicine" though, MANY times, in many different ways...and that answer is a lot different than why medical SCHOOL (as opposed to nursing, PA, PT, etc).

EDIT: ooooh!!!!!!! Top!!!!

I want to put something snazzy here. But I don't know what. Please let me ponder it.
