Just 3 days of straight travel will be a little tiring but im a big boy

So I told someone about my Tulane interview and they were super not happy.

They were sort of mad that I had a lower GPA than them and they got the reject. 🙁 I felt bad. But what was I supposed to do?

😕 It's nice of you to feel bad for your friend, but why would they feel more deserving an interview just because they have a higher GPA? Tulane is known to be extremely picky about fit as opposed to stats.

where have you been all weekend 😉

Thanks guys. Im beyond stoked right now. Kinda confused why the other half of my state schools(UTSW,El Paso, San Antonio and even Baylor) havent given me love yet : /. Oh well ill be patient and wait.

Im waiting on NU as well : ) i submitted my app like last tuesday. Had to wait to get my waiver approved.

Pritzker invite before I even submit my secondary .... I am clearly not on top of my game

Congrats to both of you ! Pritzker was my first rejection this cycle, so sadly I won't be joining you there. But hopefully the three of us will meet somewhere along the interview trail 😉

where have you been all weekend 😉

I had an interview Friday, then today I had to make a 6-hour drive for classes on Monday. Busy weekend!

How have you been?

Thanks 🙂 My interview was at UTMB. I think it went well; both of my interviewers were very conversational and easy to talk to. When are you interviewing at UTH? Maybe we'll finally meet each other!

After reading your review on the school-specific threads I really want to do my second visit at CS! I was very impressed with my interview experience at Temple.

Yeah, luckily I did not have that guy. One of my fellow interviewees got stuck with someone who started quizzing her on biological cycles. When she couldn't answer, he said, "It's really concerning that someone who wants to go into medicine doesn't know all of this." Then he asked for her GPA and MCAT (when we had already been told beforehand that the interviewers were NOT supposed to ask for our stats). Since her MCAT was apparently kinda low for someone with her GPA, he asked, "What happened with your MCAT?" and "How can someone with your GPA not know the answers to these questions?" She was tearing up afterwards and some of my friends had to tell her to request another interview. I felt really bad for her, but luckily UTMB was nice enough to arrange another interview right then and there!

BMEN, it looks like we'll be interviewing at the Texas Medical Center on the same day but different schools

Thats good for her. Most schools do that if an interviewer is like that. My guy was just brutal.

But i used it to my advantage at TAMU. I used something Dr. J said and ended up impressing my interviewer at TAMU

BMEN, are you even going to go to school this year with that interview schedule?

Your senior design team must hate you :meanie:

They'll hate me even more when I get an acceptance.

"uhh sorry guys i dont give a flip anymore. You thought you got a bargain but troll on you"

Yay ! congrats.

I dont get how i havent heard from El paso, or UTSA, or Baylor when i have heard from Chicago and Case/CCLCM

I feel the same way about some of the places I applied to! Haven't heard back from a bunch of "match" or "safety" schools but got an interview from Cornell 😱. People aren't joking when they say the application process can be very random.

Last year I was the President for a club in which most of the officers did very little work (just there to pad their resume). I had to do a lot on my own. Now that I've finished my term, they've realized how much they need to learn and they've asked me to come back to help them out. I used the excuse that I don't want to be that officer who never shows up to meetings because they're gone for med school interviews...and lo and behold, I can't even attend the first event because of an interview .

I haven't heard back from Harvard yet should I be worried?

Oh wait, I didn't apply to Harvard.

lol Harvard. lol JHU. lol Yale. lol UPenn. lol WashU.
Not even going to give them the opportunity to reject me.

I think it was BMEN who told me Harvard gives you a refund if you don't get in. So why not

Lol WashU and Harvard for me. we'll see what happens. I originally thought most of the Texas schools were reaches for me based on numbers. And then bam all these invites.

I was on review with Chicago longer than most people then 10 days later happy email. I thought i was going to be rejected.

Well, I have no letters from my PI(s) for one. It never occurred for me to ask them. Oops.

Also, AP credits. lulz.

I AP'ed out of the right stuff and took upper levels of what I took AP for

Heh, if I knew about this entire medicine thing, I might not have been so enthusiastic about claiming AP credits.

Oh well, what's done is done. It's also why I can't apply to Vandy 😳

Same. However, doing engineering with AP is 5-6 year degree with pre med 🙄

Heh. From just a credits standpoint, I think I had enough AP / CLEP stuff coming in to college to graduate with a general studies degree in one semester (obviously, there's a rule that says you need X number of credit hours in residence to graduate, but it's good to dream).

UTH interview invite today. Yay. 10 interview invites before i start school

Question for you, since I'm in a similar situation. Assuming you get more II's, at one point are you going to start withdrawing apps? With so many absences from school and so much $ spent on hotel and airfares I'm wondering where I should draw the line.

I made a priority list with the remaining schools and the days they interview. Based on price, location, how much i initially like it, and timelyness. At this point i might have to withdraw from one(EVMS) if i can't get worked covered.

evening folks, more interview talk going on i see -___-

You keep hyping CS. I'm really getting the urge to finish my secondary.
a) they love engineers

b) Brand new building. Smells nice

c) Choice of where to do clinical years. All great locations

D) Purty girls

Don't want a depressing post at top so here's some 90s musical goodness.

Do it! You will get awesome freebies on your interview day! And A&M had the best food out of all my interviews!

...Those aren't the best reasons to apply to a school but BMEN's review was so thorough I don't know what else to add . Something I didn't know beforehand -- in addition to the CS, Temple, and Round Rock tracks there's also a track in Dallas. And no matter what campus you pick, you will have the same classes as everyone else because the lectures are video-conferenced. When you have a question for a professor teaching at a different campus, you push a button on the microphone at your seat, which makes the camera zoom in on your face so the professor knows who's asking the question.

Also with Anatomy -- for each group, 4 students do dissections in the lab while 1-2 students do clinical stuff. Then the people who dissected cadavers have to teach other students what they learned. The students who did not dissect have to take a quiz, and whatever they get is the grade for the entire group. The med students told us the anatomy quizzes help boost your grades.

Geez, sorry to hear that. Hear back from that other letter writer?
