I'm pretty sure everything a doctor does is messing with the natural progression of humanity. What is the end result/goal of medicine? Is it to indefinitely increase the human lifespan and overpopulate the planet? I guess more patients equals more customers. That's the way the pharmaceutical/biotech industries see it anyway. Having done research for these industries I know first hand that they prefer treatments to cures.

What I think about this I'm reminded of those carrying capacity experiments you do in basic biology. By increasing the human lifespan, isn't medicine just speeding up the end of the human race? What would Darwin do?

I don't think that's the purpose of medicine... I think medicine has a lot more to do with quality of life. Sure we use drugs/surgery sometimes to increase life spans. But chances are you or I wouldn't be here if antibiotics weren't discovered, or vaccines.

True. But I come from LA, and actually am from the town where Octomom is from, so I witness this overpopulation first hand. You ever see the movie Idiocracy?
