Speaking of Noomi Rapace, did anyone else see the new Sherlock Holmes? I thought it was fantastic, though I'll admit I'm easily amused.

Agreed. I feel like films need to be evaluated independently of the literature they are based on. Fidelity to the written work does not make a movie either good or bad, and I kind of like not knowing everything that will happen in advance.

I think its a double edged sword when it comes to adapting movies from famous works of literature, or even a long standing comic book series. On the one hand, you get to enjoy not knowing whats going to happen, on the other hand, you may want to see how a particular part in the story or a certain arc in the comic plays out on the big screen.

I loved what they did with X-2 utilizing the whole God Loves Man Kills arc from X-Men but hated, hated, HATED what they did with the Phoenix in X-3.

But but but they completely slaughtered the character of Sherlock Holmes imho. Forgetting the whole literature thing, it was still a mediocre action movie.

I really enjoy it, but I'm not sure how a more avid Sherlock/Conan Doyle fan would view it. I've only read 1 book and 2 short stories of his. Basically each episode is a present day homage to a story. All the characters are the same (Mycroft, Moriarty, even Mrs. Hudson) but the stories are drastically modernized. It's kind of fun to see what they do with it.

I'd say try it out. Season 1 is streaming on Netflix, Season 2 is currently on. 👍

multiple interviews, I can't believe it. This is not how I thought this season was gonna turn out. Two weeks ago, I had no interviews and very little hope. All that's changed now.

An embargo can be described as like a blocking of certain goods. Like information on certain topics are embargoed until a certain date and then released to the public. Or a trade embargo that blocks goods from being traded between to nations.

If I'm way off on this, anyone could chime in

I'm wondering about it in the case of a movie. Some guy got his hands on the movie early and decided to release a review? Who cares?

errr it wasn't just any publication though, it was the New Yorker. and by doing that it allowed for everyone else to follow suit and publish their reviews before it was even in theaters. Releasing your review of a movie early when you were only allowed to see it on the agreement that you wouldn't do just that does seem pretty unethical.

Alright, I only made it halfway through the Metropolis video before I began hating myself for being so uncreative and my parents for not buying me more KNEX as a kid. But watching the video raised a few questions:

1. How did he pay for all those KNEX/how much do 30,000 pieces cost?
2. How did he even come up with the idea/time to accomplish such a task?
3. Has this guy ever been laid?

I'm guessing the last one is a no...

i don't know the answers to any of your questions haha but i did make the ferris wheel part that's included in both videos when i was a kid. i was 10 and it was one of the best christmas presents ever....until my little brothers destroyed it. 🙁
