i have to admit, cheese is one of my main food groups. cheese and sushi have their own layers in my food pyramid. This is why I can never have babies. I love me my unpasteurized softs and my raw fish TOO MUCH.

I've hosted a few times and one of people I hosted got in off the waitlist like a month after being waitlisted. There is hope!

deferred. They said technically no decision, but i'm sure you know better than i do. Yeah, Dean White and other people also said positive things about this turning into good news potentially, but I just want to know already.....it's been like half a year! 🙁

how do you satisfy your love for the asian noms there, btw? i'm just curious.
 
Also, I just want to share that I found out they sell Jeni's Ice Cream at my local gourmet grocer....

We have a pretty decent asian presence here. I mean, it's not half as good as LA or Chicago or New York, but we are for sure one of the most "diverse" cities in the immediate region.

We have two places that do dim sum and both are OK, two or three pho places with one being excellent, and a couple sushi places. Akai Hana is one of the best sushi houses I have eaten at in the US, but that's probably not saying much. There's a couple Korean places, with two of them doing the real table barbeque that are pretty good.

We also have various markets, many of them vietnamese. I am not fluent in any asian language so it's hard for me to navigate them. We have two asian bakeries that I know of that do the asian/french fusion thing. One of them makes excellent taro and mung bean buns and assorted other treats and the pork buns are really good, too. I try to stay away from there because I end up bringing home twenty pork buns and eating them in a week or two. I can't remember the name of the top of my head.....

I enjoy all foods, and there is a pretty decent collection of indian and east african places, too.

I think I am very strange for this, but I hate Jeni's. 🙁 I have been coerced in going there multiple times and never enjoyed it, dunno why. Our krogers have been carrying it, I guess they're spreading that out?

haha! i'm sure you're not strange. I went on interview day with my girlfriend who's a M1. she took me on an entire tour of that area after my day was over - we went window shopping at ladybird and some other boutiques, had some of the brambleberry and salted caramel at jeni's....I thought it was yummy, but i'm a sucker for ice cream/frozen yogurt. Like I have been known to buy a "take-home" from pinkberry and demolish it in two sittings. 😳

I believe you. I think that it gets wayyyy too much smacktalk...people seemed really surprised that I liked the city and voiced concerns about my ability to find all the various noms I like. But I think that's relatively low on my list of priorities when choosing a medical school, haha.

I must say, I think our frozen yogurt sucks here. People aren't big on the tart flavors here and hardly any of the places here really use live culture yogurt, which is how I can tell myself it's healthy enough to pig out on. 😀

i dislike most creamy frozen yogurt (with the exception of 21 choices). i will say tcby is blech to me. i lurvvve tart froyo. my stomach turns into a bottomless pit when it comes to that...and pasta. i can eat disgusting amounts of pasta as well. i think that's left over from my days of carboloading as a swimmer 😳

on that note, gotta head to the gym... SO glad you joined our faction! we <3 food. and dogs. pretty much everything, really. except trolls. trolls are verboten. 🙂

i lurrrrve having my ipad at the gym btw. i've decided i'll do fun things like netflix on the elliptical next year during school. i remember trying to do reading at the gym and not accomplishing very much. might as well make it all a break from school!

Probably haha. I acted like a total freshman last night- took shots too quikcly and was drunk too early. Then forgot to eat and drink water, so I felt like death until 5 pm. Gatorade, you are my best friend.

Ooo I should do that. Load up my tablet with shows and watch on the elliptical. It would definitely pass the time better!
