I'm excited to quit undergrad 🙂 23 more days of class.

All those cinnamon rolls are making me starving. A bunch of you guys are from Irvine right? Has anyone ever been to the Sugar Shack in Huntington Beach? Best cinnamon rolls ever.
 
The best cinnamon bun I ever had in my entire life was at a place called Wheat Montana. somewhere between Bozeman and Helena, MT. If I remember correctly, the wheat they use to make their baked goods is grown nearby. Maybe MT Headed is familiar with this place.

What is this Sugar Shack you speak of and why have I never heard of it? On my way to huntington beach now.

Yeah, held up in IRB. Most likely I'll finish in May, get a certification that says I've completed all requirements for med school, and actually "graduate" in August.

do any of the schools you got accepted to start in July? I would assume not "graduating" until august cold potentially hold you back, no?

Nope, both August, I believe. The only school I interviewed at starting in July is Case, which wouldn't be a problem as I could just transition into the program if accepted and I choose to go.

Besides, that's the point of the statement from the MPH office. It'll say I've finished everything and am just waiting for the graduation date. It's not like I have uncompleted coursework left, so hopefully it won't matter.

Still shooting to graduate in May though!

Wheat Montana has several outlets now, but their headquarters is in Three Forks, right across from a porno / strip club place. It's about the most local-food carbohydrate you can get, since they grow and harvest and mill the wheat within a 100ft radius of the place. It's mighty fine.

We had a variety show here in January and the final bit was promoted as a "genuine Montana pole dance". This real good looking girl got up on stage all bundled up (it was the middle of winter after all) and when the slow music started she danced and took off a layer. After layer. After layer. I didn't know it was possible to wear that many jackets, sweaters, sweat shirts, long johns, etc. Finally when we were pretty sure she was down to her last layer of long underwear, she spun around the pole, winked seductively at the whooping and hollering audience, stuck out her tongue, and it promptly got stuck to the frozen pole.

"Haap! Thumdody haap bee!" she cried, and the curtain came down on the set.

Have you tried the Dorito taco from Taco Bell? I was disappointed to learn that it just tastes like a cheesy taco. Not like I eat that much fast food anyway...😛

I spent all morning trying to figure out how to block CityVille notifications from my Android Social Networking widget. I still can't figure out how to do it.

Most advice on the internet is for how to block CityVille:
- after you run it (I've never run the thing, nor will I give it any permissions)
- tells you to click on a button on the left sidebar (there is no button now)
- tells you to click on the "block this app" from the dropdown (but CityVille only has a "Report Spam" dropdown).

It's really frustrating. I've blocked tons of apps, including other Zynga apps like FarmVille and CastleVille from clogging my Android Social Networking widget in the past, but CityVille seems to be using some new technique that I can't stop. I had to scroll through 25 requests for mortar and **** just to see my other friend's new baby pics.

If I can't figure out how to do it, I think I'm going to unfriend this girl, simply because of the ****ty and abusive apps she runs.

Those things ****ing make me want to die. Any app that posts things automatically on my social networking sites just needs to be deleted, and people that use them get unfriended.
 
some good news, the postbac i have an interview for is allowing me to interview by skype. Now I need to get my computer's sound fixed. Anyone here a computer tech whiz?

oh so you know some things about computers, maybe you can help. Its pretty much all sounds. For some reason only the systems sounds work on my comp at startup. Apparently, my computer doesn't think I have a sound device installed when I do with all drivers installed and working properly. I have to manually start sound on my comp by going to services --> windows audio ---> start. but I have to do that every time, and it doesn't always work completely.

Got any ideas?

some postbacs do, usually ones that provide linkage or so. Nothing about medschool can ever be easy 🙄

- As a sanity check, is this consistent even if you plug in your headphones or other accessory device?

- I know you mentioned that the drivers seemed to be working fine (at least via an update check on the device manager) but it might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for your speakers from your PC manufacturer's website.

- Another possibility (though improbable) is that you somehow corrupted/deleted the appropriate codec(s) for handling MP3's, etc. Here's a brief tutorial on how to check for appropriate codecs.

... as far as the manual sound sub-menu annoyance:

- In the control panel you should see something to the effect of 'hardware and sound' (depending on your OS). You should be able to click on a device (presumably your built-in speakers for a laptop) and 'set as default'. It is possible that you have somehow assigned all non-system sounds to a device that does not exist. If this is the case simply redefine your built-in speakers as the default device for all sounds (doing this manually for all available sub-menus).

...and if none of these work then I blame Lee.

yeah, i think SS's right - linkage is the common denominator for interviewing in postbacs.
 
so I tried to fix the sound on my comp by myself, now I have no sound at all. FML
 
so even if i were to get top, i couldn't hear the 90s musical goodness
