Class of 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Ok. So I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but I would really like to see SDN do more interviews of ACTUAL DOCTORS and not just random health professionals that I don't care about.

WHO SAID THAT. INAPPROPRIATE.

Although, revision, nurses are awesome. And if you are reading this and a non-physician health care professional, I care a lot about you. A lot. Look into my eyes and see the care.

I'm thinking about how I haven't done any work in the lab for the last month.

And I mean, yes, I'm into medical school, but does that mean I should just shut down?

I had my last day in my research lab Thursday. It was kinda sad, but I am definitely looking forward to some research in medical school.

But yes, being accepted means that the drive for my undergrad research completely died for me.

I took botany and I thought it was pretty cool class, we got to go to Big Trees National Park for a project. I'm pretty sure plant physiology isn't as fun.

Botany was okay. It had a good professor for me. However, plant phys has the worst professor on the planet on top of me being accepted to medical school and not caring how the hell Arabidopsis creates its cell wall...

tantacles, I see that you like games. I have never played soul blazer but I did play Terranigma which was part of that trilogy of games and was all kinds of awesome.

You're making me all nostalgic for those games, guess I better start downloading some games.

Why do you love block vs. integrated? Just curious.

ALSO: I ate an entire pint of Jeni's over the weekend. Brambleberry Crisp. 😎

I dunno how other block systems work but for us, we have one two hour long test at the end of a 3-4 week block. One test is awesome. Many of my friends at integrated schools have weeks where tests don't sync up on the same day. They might have a test three days in a row or one every week for a month. That just blows. We take one test and then it's time to relax for a week.

Also, I know this makes me weird but I hate Jeni's. Expensive and not really that awesome, but maybe it's just because I am so used to it. 😛

Yeah see that's why I was confused, because the integrated curriculum I was used to had an exam every few weeks, kind of the way you describe. And from what I understand, the block curriculum I'm beginning in the fall has exams lined up all at once....like 5+ over the span of two weeks. Which just sounds like cruel and unusual punishment.

I think we can agree.... One test at a time every few weeks >>> many exams in a few weeks at the end of a semester.

Block to me = one "class" on a specific subject, then you take an aggregate test at the end of the block. We have PBL type stuff here and there, which isn't too bad.

Class style = multiple subjects taught in many classes, each class has a test.

Integrated means to me you are taught physiology, histology, and pathology at the same time.

Conversely, "traditional curriculum" = you are taught histo and physio first year, pathology second year.

So, I see it as integrated vs. traditional and, separately, class vs. block style?

5 exams over two weeks sounds just terrible. I am sure you'll do fine, you work with what you got. 🙂

Ah yes. So what I've experienced would be integrated block. What I'm headed into is traditional class. The prospect of an exam every 2-3 weeks made it impossible to really slack, so I liked having that extra motivation. But yeah, I figure I will make it work. p = md, after all. It's just that I'm just a lazy bum who likes hand holding, haha.

A bigger deal might be is it P/F?

Good lord, the UC postbac application is essentially the AMCAS app. And I can't just give them my AMCAS app and transcripts and leave it at that. Not to mention that I'll have to do this again a 3rd time starting tomorrow when AMCAS opens again. -__________________________-

Freaking Howard and/or Drew please accept me so I don't have to continue with this torture

Wow that blows. There is no way to import an old AMCAS application to avoid filling everything in again? Maybe tomorrow morning you will wake up to a wonderful email...

If I do turn out to be a reapplicant, it looks like AMCAS will re-populate my data for the 2013 app season. Still, I'd rather just get in to the two remaining schools I have left and not have to deal with this mess.

Here's to hoping for some good news at the start of the month :luck::xf::luck:

My fingers are crossed for you... I wouldn't wish another year of this crap on ANYONE. :xf::xf::xf::luck::luck::luck:

In other news, I finally got to see 21 Jump St yesterday. Freaking awesome movie, hella funny.

yeah, this is true. i think what i'm most excited about is that while both places have Honors / P / F, the place i'm attending in the fall doesn't grade on a curve, which makes for a lot less animosity.

yep. because i reapplied but not in consecutive years, i had to repopulate the whole damn thing myself. 👎thumbdown👎

we are all rooting for you. what kexy said... only a true sadist would wish a repeat of this process on any other human being. i hope drew loses a matriculant because i know how much you'd like to stay in CA :xf::luck:
