Is anyone else considering buying a privacy screen filter for their laptop? It's not necessary by any means, but I would like to avoid the stares when i'm studying anatomy in a public area, and just for personal use when I travel.

I remember I was once studying pelvic anatomy at 6 a.m. in a panera and thought no one was around. I got kind of enrapt in the lecture I was watching and time flew by. I remember I was looking at slides showing fouriner's gangrene and I heard someone gasp behind me. This 8-10 year old boy was standing behind me, mouth open with huge eyes. I didn't even know what to say.

I hauled ass out of there, I didn't want no trouble, haha.

seriously! i need several things to study optimally:

1. accessible water refills
2. accessible food refills
3. accessible bathroom
4. wifi
5. outlets
6. long hours of operation

and besides library and student lounges, coffee shops, frozen yogurt shops and other such public food places were great go-tos for me. however, they were also frequented by non-med people. So when I was studying the layers of the testes, I got some REALLY strange looks. tunica albuginea ftw.

histo is all right to study in public, but anatomy....that's the worst.

Amazing, lol. That reminds me of studying for my Medical Bacteriology class on the train; the page I was on had a picture of erysipelas of the lower leg. The guard came up behind me to check my ticket, but instead of asking to see it, he just goes, "Damn, what's wrong with that leg?!"
 
People keep giving us mangoes from their trees. I love these people, and I love MANGOES!!! And pineapple. And most fruit except for cantaloupe and honeydew. Ewwwww, I hate those. And cilantro is also awful. End of my bump/food rant.
 
The place I had plan on staying over the summer just became unavailable. I was literally going to go down tomorrow and sign a contract. I now have to find a place in LA or commute 2+hours which I DO NOT WANT. ugh so freaking frustrating.
 
Just got a 6 A.M. wakeup call via some idiot doing HORRIBLE musical scales on a flute or trumpet below me in the dorm.

I will hunt this person. I will make them pay.

I'd imagine an SDN meetup to be somewhat surreal. I have never done one, but I can totally imagine me meeting SDN people, thinking, "Hmmm...doesn't look like his/her avatar at all." This would be further complicated by having an avatar of an animal, an inanimate object, or a logo of some sort. 😀
 
things that made today suck:
i got patient samples that are keeping me here late. and by late i mean past 6pm.
i had to wait half an hour at the post office for absolutely no reason at all. there was literally 3 people sitting behind the desk doing NOTHING for 30 minutes while i stood there, packages in tow, deathglaring a la nysw.
it rained and poured intermittently, and of course I was huffing and puffing away with my packages outside during the torrential downpours. my feet are squishing in their shoes. blechhh
a restaurant it takes 3 months to get into canceled my reservation. 👎thumbdown👎

Let me employ my deductive reasoning skills. Your post history (stalkety-stalk-stalk) seems to suggest that you are in the Great Lakes region. A 3-month wait for a restaurant should eliminate "smaller" cities, such as Madison, Ann Arbor or Springfield. Thus, my guess would have to be Chi-Town.
