Class of 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just dropped my acceptance at one school and accepted a different waitlist offer. Let the scramble to get ready begin...

Best thing ever is that I'm going to med school where I've gone to undergrad/ lived and worked for the past 7 years. I have my doctors here, fully furnished house, I know how to navigate the area...I do not envy people who have to move.

Allow me to taunt ... Nah nah nah nah NAH!

(I'm joking about the taunting...just being playful !!)

Eh, I don't mind moving too much. The logistics are a hassle, but a change of scenery can be refreshing, particularly if you find yourself dwelling somewhere unpleasant/dangerous/boring/with inclement weather (or all of the above) for years on end.

this is exactly why i didnt mention dates, eventually stopped posting in class threads, deleted my mdapps and changed my username.

twice.

Hahahah. I personally don't really care if someone identifies me. I don't hide it at all. I'm the same person on here and in real life. The way I see it, the internet isn't a private place at all. Anything can be be found by anyone.

It's all personal preference, I guess

I didn't satisfy the undergraduate course requirements for that school and therefore could not apply 🙁

Neither did I 😛 I heard you could take the class over the summer though. I know a few doing that.

I know some students who took a class during summer session 1 in order to graduate with a degree, and then matriculated in medical school in August.

Yeah ... I like where I live though. This is terrible, but the worst thing about it is that my boyfriend is here :-x. If I had gone away, I'd still see him, but I'd have more time to focus. But I guess then id be missing him a lot.

Typical woman...I am unsatisfiable!

I'd actually be quite upset if I had to go to the med school on my undergrad/grad campus. Enough is enough!

He's away for a rotation right now. I have slept so that I have a limb at each of the four corners of the bed. I've stayed up late reading in bed...WITH THE OVERHEAD LIGHT ON. I've eaten crap and don't feel guilty cause no one else knows 🙂 I go to the gym when I'm done teaching at 930pm.

It's been nice doing whatever I want whenever I want. Not that he restricts me...definitely not...it's just...for example if i know he's home when I get out of teaching at 930, I wanna go home and see him more than I wanna go to the gym. Take away that option, let's gym it! More of a lack of self control on my part I guess 😛

I was torn between writing more letters to my alma matar's med school and try to get in there, or go back home to a better city that was closer to my family. The only reason why I considered the first at one point was because I wanted the familiarity of the area, and to be around all of my friends from undergrad.

Then I realized that they would probably peace out within a year or two so it wouldn't matter anyway. I'm happy where I am 🙂

So we can finally go public with our romance?

Looks like I got a solid shot off in my duel so far.

Unfortunately, the registrar has got some of those funny alien weapons that shoot green beams.

I just noticed you decided to make an addendum under your SDN name instead of paying the donor fee to change your name

LOL. I'm truly not that cheap, but when saving for 2 months of rent in (the expensive city where my med school is 😏) before loan money comes in, you can't spend money on such things. My time will come, and when it does we will have to figure out a proper name.

Hey now, some of us are homers for life. 😉

I have a lot of friends outside of undergrad here and lots of family members/girlfriend are still in undergrad here.

Haha im about 4 hours away from where I grew up. Close enough to visit the fam when I want, far enough that it's a pain in the rear for my mom to come visit too frequently. This is more of my home now...I too have lots of friends that are permanent fixtures here.

This is what I'm worried about. I'll be less than an hour from home :scared:

I'm moving pretty far away, so most of my family would have to fly to come see me. My mom and sister are doing just that in August, but after that, I probably won't see them again until December, when I head back here. I will miss my family and friends I have here. My going-away party last night reminded me that I will.

I'll be ~8 hours away. It's a manageable drive, but sort of getting to that point where it's worth the extra expense to fly.

I almost want to move to Australia...can almost guarantee my crazy mom can't visit unless planned wellllll in advance

Might I venture a guess and say you don't have any younger siblings still living at home? That keeps my parents preoccupied for the most part.

In other news, this has me feelin' a bit randy:

why would you want to move to Australia? The most dangerous everything lives there. :scared:

If it makes you feel better I live under 5 hours away from my parents and I hardly ever see them because school is so busy. I saw them maybe every two months in undergrad. :\

Life, I guess.

Maybe it's good that I won't have the distraction of many nearby friends and family, then. I will now just have to make sure I spend my extra time with the boyfriend.
