I was on the phone with my mom earlier while she was watching the Giants vs. the Cowboys. She was getting all worked up about it, and I basically said what you just said. lol

The NFL is dumb. But college football is so much better than studying anatomy.

I'm saying, if you're an athlete, you can appreciate other people's dedication to following certain sports. Right?

Just bear with me. Without football, my Saturdays would be a meaningless void filled with...gasp...studying.

And I don't understand the couch thing. 🙁
 
"Watchin sports on tv is teh dumm. Why care about/spend time on it?"

This logic could be extrapolated...why stop?

Watching a tv show about a time traveling alien (dr who), monster butt-kicking (supernatural/grimm), anything anime, an addict "diagnostician" (house), etc, etc is a waste of time...sitting on the couch, getting worked up about fictitious characters, the energy could be spent elsewhere.

You neglect that, for a major subpopulation, watching sports serves as a positive, longitudinal bonding activity. Most 60 year olds can't go out and run routes for Saturday's intramural pickup game, but they can still sit back with their buddies and cheer on their team... Sometimes husbands and wives bond over sports, as do parents with kids. Sitting down together to cheer on the news, or going for a walk around the lake just doesn't deliver the same effect. 😉

I'm just here to say one thing: taco. OK, another thing: I totally slept through an entire lecture this morning. It was one of those times where it was literally impossible to stay awake. I felt rude, but then I felt rested. 🙂

It was a good game, I'll give you that. The hard part was being stuck at a bar and not being able to hear the TV/see all the captions because other people were there. The best part was being stuck at a bar and being able to drink my sorrows away when things started not looking so hot. 😉

D'aww. There was a girl in my class about a month ago who literally closed her computer and laid her head down on the desk during lecture. No shame. At least most of us have the decency to do the face-on-hand thing...

My computer remained open with Onenote up. I briefly woke up a few times and pitifully attempted to initiated note-taking. Now for that lecture, I have a random half-word or two on various slides because I couldn't make it much further than that before passing out again. :laugh: I also have many handwritten notes from undergrad where the handwriting degenerates into meaningless scribbles from when I fell asleep in class. I've been bad about this for a while. lol As a grad student, I even used to fall asleep in the front row of my PI's class of 15 people - like 3 feet in front of him, with my head back, mouth agape. Very, very embarrassing. He would always ask me questions when I was dead asleep, and he seemed so disappointed that I always answered correctly upon being awakened from my slumber. 😀
