Class of 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I can finally see normally again!!! 😎

I've had many an eye appointment, and I have terrible vision, but I've never had my pupils dilated. Is there some specific reason as to why people get that done?

Also, my brand spanking new computer is having issues with teh internets. Its super duper slow loading and some pages don't even load properly. I'm sure its probably my internet connection cause it couldn't possibly be a fault in my brand spanking new barely a month old computer

Really??? My pupils are dilated every year when I go for a check-up (and I have terrible vision as well). I just assumed it was a routine part of the exam, when they make you read the eye chart.

never had it done, and I've done everything from the reading the eye chart through that scope doohickey to the glaucoma air puffer test (which I hate). My eyes change into waterfalls when i have an eye appointment 😳

My ophthalmologist always dilates my pupils, but I don't think it's necessary. Probably just the doctor's preference. One of my friends today said she's never had her pupils dilated either for her checkups. Dilating the pupils basically gives you a bigger window through which you can see the back of the eye to check the optic nerve, blood vessels, fovea, etc. It's pretty near impossible for us just starting out to use an ophthalmoscope and see anything in an undilated eye. (It's still pretty difficult even if dilated...)

They must have given us some super duper drops or something because you could barely see a thin ring of my iris around my pupil, and it lasted for over 6 hours. It's like walking around/trying to read with only one contact in. At one point I was washing my hands in the bathroom, looked up at myself in the mirror, and freaked myself out. 😳

look on the bright side, at least you're not losing me to another class...actually, i might have to take that back, depending on what goes down in the next few months.

Oh geez, I feel you. All break I was like, "I'm gonna kick some a** this semester and not fall behind and study EVERY day and pre-read and post-read"....

Had four pathology lectures on day 1 and I watched my plan crumble before my eyes. Now we have an exam on Friday and I'm still learning last Thursday's stuff.

You have an exam this Friday?! Your last exam was two weeks ago! :scared:

Yep. We started the pathology portion of the course last Wednesday, final exam on Friday.

And then a glorious weekend with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to study for. :claps:

What a short deadline... guess you guys were actually right (and that I was ignorant) that med school goes by REALLY FAST. At least, it doesn't cover the entire pathology (like the whole Robbins book)

Nah I guess this is more of a histopathology course, since we'll be doing path in each organ system block next year.

Mmmmm tiramisu.

Long time no see buttermellow, how ya been?

Pretty good. Just working and keepin' on. I have an interview at Mizzou later this month, I'm thinking about just acting weird since I already have another acceptance.

you should come in wearing a pink dress or something equally crazy.

Oh Mizzou 😍 and  at the same time.

I know, still wearing overalls. what is this 1995?

Besides the fact that his overalls look more like one of those reusable shopping bags, why would he wear that when meeting the Canadian prime minister? That's the best getup he could put together? Jeez.
