I was running down the fairly steep hill from my apartment and rolled my ankle and fell. Cracked the end of my fibula (Weber A fracture) which is apparently the best kind of fracture to have if you're going to break your ankle. Thankfully there's really no pain right now, but my ankle itches something awful and I have a splint/cast thing from my toes to just below my knee.

Probably the coolest thing was my attending in the ED was one of my facilitators for PBL earlier in the year. As I was leaving xray, I saw him reviewing the films and heard him say "wow that's a huge chunk!" (referring to the amount of bone I broke off). 🙁 It was like a mini-shadowing experience for EM and ortho 😀

dang, are you weight bearing or not? It helped me a ton when I was using crutches for my knee injuries that I could bear small amounts of weight.

Absolutely no weight bearing, which really sucks. I have a followup visit with ortho in a few days and I'm crossing my fingers that they'll allow me to bear weight. I feel like crutches would be so much easier if I wasn't constantly afraid of putting my right foot down.

I've read all the Hunger Games books but I still haven't seen the first movie 🙁

you guys are getting close to the end of first year! 5 weeks and I am done with second year.

What do we all have in common? We all still know jack squat about real medicine!

Good luck with Step 1! We go through the end of June and then get July off. I've got a while to go...

Later tiedyeddog! It was fun while it lasted! Best of luck for Step 1, which no doubt you will destroy. Hope you'll return soon and ease off that stress.
